Here it is, the Atlanta Braves new uniform, being modeled by Chipper Jones, Brian McCann, and Dan Uggla.
Pretty cool new alternate uni. They will apparently wear this on the weekends, shifting the red uni to Fridays.
And of course, Jason Heyward:

jdelsandro - February 6, 2012
Love these
wpf3211 - February 6, 2012
Awesome.
These are the best pics yet I’ve seen of the new unis, and I like them very much.
Tarkus - February 6, 2012
Awesome
Now let’s figure out how long before we can order them with player name/numbers on them. Braves Shop only has blanks right now.
Vanakatherock - February 6, 2012
Great shot of J Hey
Imagine if he lost the batting gloves and it was a black and white photo, I could believe it was a historic Braves photo.
Crispy - February 6, 2012
That’s a poster shot.
carpengui - February 6, 2012
Here ya go Crispy..

jdelsandro - February 6, 2012
That is awesome!
That does deserve to be a poster shot. If a few years when he has wracked up a couple Gold Gloves, Silver Slugger’s and possibly even an MVP that will be the thing for kids to have up on their walls, like Jordan in the 80’s and 90’s.
Crispy - February 6, 2012
Yeah the only thing i couldnt do...
was remove the batting gloves.. but it looks super awesome even with them.. Thanks for the idea.
jdelsandro - February 6, 2012
I wonder what Heyward was thinking while staring off into the distance
leedawg - February 6, 2012
The 30 HRs he's gonna hit this year
wpf3211 - February 6, 2012
45.
With .550 OBP and .900 SLG. Oh, and 75 steals.
J Tadpole - February 6, 2012
I feel like it should something more philosophical than that

I'll try.
“Why the hell am I doing this? I’m a baseball player, not a g.d. fashion model.”
J Tadpole - February 6, 2012
AWESOME JERSEY'S
I am very impressed with the Braves going back to their grass roots by using the 1966 jerseys and using a modern home jersey. A brand new jersey brings in great smiles by fans and players.
JustaBrave - February 6, 2012
I'm eh on them
The stroke around the Braves script and the stroke around the numbers are inconsistent. It looks odd to me.
But I’d get a blank one so it would have no flawed numbers.
royhobbs - February 6, 2012
I think the text and number look too shiny. Like they’ve been ironed on.
cbwilk - February 6, 2012
I liked them
But noticed the same thing. They looked ironed on. Not a fan of the shininess.
Doghnut - February 6, 2012
This is why I love baseball...
Every detail matters to someone.
While I understand the shiny factor referenced by cbwilk and Doghnut below, I have zero idea what you’re talking about regarding the “stroke.” However, I’m assuming “stroke” is common garment lingo, and I am going to assume it means the shape and style of the lettering/numbering.
While not perfect, I like the unis a lot.
Jman781 - February 6, 2012
Stroke is designer jargon
It’s what I do for a living. In short, it’s referencing the thickness of the blue around the Braves emblem compared to the thickness of the blue around the numbers. It’s inconsistent, and to my artist’s eye, consistency is aesthetically pleasing.
I’m certain that the red in BRAVES is the same red in the numbers, but the inconsistent stroke of both make them look like different shades.
royhobbs - February 6, 2012
Good point
is this the finalized version, including the shiny iron on look of the numbers? Could these be the demo model, and the real things will have stitched numbers?
Mr. Sanchez - February 6, 2012
Who really knows
When the Marlins debuted their new unis, I was out in Arizona for the AFL, and they wasted no time in having their Marlins prospects wearing the new unis for in-game play the next day.
Hopefully the Braves will rectify the glossy look, and the stroke, but I wouldn’t bet on it. These are probably ready to go out and play now if they had to.
royhobbs - February 6, 2012
I actually like the difference; it almost invokes a sense of contrast—at least to me. I kind of wish there was no border around the numbers at all and that they were all red.
swainzy - February 6, 2012
It see it now...
It’s like one of those “Magic Eye” pictures.
Now, it does look off. You’ve ruined it you ruiner! :-)
Jman781 - February 6, 2012
I think they did not want to make the uni and the logo look the same
almost like not compromising the logo to match the uniform or versa. like the old days, just iron something on, if it matches, it matches….
jgg420 - February 7, 2012
I like them BTW
jgg420 - February 7, 2012
The Heyward shot looks pretty sweet
the photos from the actual unveiling is more meh.
Having the number up front makes me feel more obligated to get one with a number than just a blank one (which is what I currently have for the home white and a road blue replica)…whenever I come across some extra money in the next couple of years.
LEastCoastBears - February 6, 2012
I do like the logo for the patch and like the pairing with the traditional home cap rather than the alternate one with the red uniform.
LEastCoastBears - February 6, 2012
The red jerseys to night games
is definitely a good move.I think I like the new one OK.I like the 1950s style characteristics.Good just for weekends.Wouldn’t want to go totally to the throwback look.
dawg1060 - February 6, 2012
On a related note, since I just recently start following soccer
I am surprised how soccer teams changes their uniform every year. Sure, they are also the ones who blatantly puts the name of some corporation front and center but it’s just weird to me at least that soccer teams put out a 2 to 3 new uniforms (with usually just subtle changes…unless you’re a big seller like FC Barcelona) every years.
LEastCoastBears - February 6, 2012
Generally soccer clubs have identity with a certain color or color scheme (Chelsea are the “blues”, AC Milan are the “rosaneri”, etc.). They have home kits and road kits, and probably put our an alternate jersy design every now and then. The frequency with which they do it resembles the NBA I think.
TBuzz - February 6, 2012
Yeah, soccer has a primary kit and couple secondary kits. The home teams get to pick which kits to wear and the visiting team can apparently wear their primary kits if the colors are different enough.
I was surprised that the main soccer clubs just regularly put out a new set of kits every single year. It’s fairly obvious for FC Barcelona since they use different number of alternating blue and red stripes (and it’s not clear to me that there is some order to how many stripes there are, such as equating that to the number of trophies won in the previous season) while for others the change is a lot more subtle (location of a trim or something). US sports (including the NBA) doesn’t change their main uniforms that frequently, although US sports love to do special throwbacks and stuff like that.
LEastCoastBears - February 6, 2012
Nostalgic looking, but I confess to missing the Tomahawk on the front.
NCChopper - February 6, 2012
Same sentiments concerning the tomahawk
Found this interesting tidbit on a Braves history site. This current alternate jersey looks like the Milwaukee “63” version. Hope this isn’t some kind of “Tomahawk Removal Omen.”
adc62 - February 6, 2012
Mr. Heyward...
wears that uni well. Very well.
sddbaker - February 6, 2012
I am of that same belief for Messrs. McCann and Uggla.
/cartoony eye-sproing
TheLetter2 - February 6, 2012
McCann looks less heap-ish
CarverM - February 6, 2012
Normally, I oppose any effort for McCann to lose weight, but in these pictures he still looks pretty beefy. I approve.
TheLetter2 - February 6, 2012
The new sleeve logo
carpengui - February 6, 2012
Nice
wpf3211 - February 6, 2012
I feel like i’m in the minority here, but i still like the red unis better
suicide bunting is a sin - February 6, 2012
Me too.
MatM - February 6, 2012
I never really liked the red.
sddbaker - February 6, 2012
Agreed
and I generally have a much greater fondness for that color than you.
Mr. Sanchez - February 6, 2012
The red were ok.
I personally don’t care for the Sunday hat….
skandrewj62j - February 7, 2012
the red has always been my least favorite.
I’ve never been a red guy though.
I’d probably go Home, Home Alt Creme, Road Blue (sorry I like them), 70s Home Alt, Road, Home Alt Red as my preference in terms of what we might see them wearing next year. I just say might because what they’ll wear for the civil rights game I’m not sure is set yet.
nuftjedi - February 7, 2012
Really like these. very sharp!
ChillyMutt - February 6, 2012
Sweet looking uniforms .
I like the throw back look .
bravesdude - February 6, 2012
Thats what i noticed as well
It looks like a throwback jersey… love it
jdelsandro - February 6, 2012
Really nice.
I’m going to order one, I think.
Nabb1 - February 6, 2012
Very nice digs
I love the classic look
Disciple of Carolina - February 6, 2012
OK great, now just sell $20MM worth of these new uni's every year...
…so we can acquire some eFn free agents!
toppleprone - February 6, 2012
Other than online , where at can we buy the new jerseys ?
bravesdude - February 6, 2012
I read that you can
buy the authentic and replica jerseys at the Braves Clubhouse Store at the CNN Center and at some Academy Sports + Outdoors stores today through Friday. I imagine as the season continues there will be made more available.
AtlantaBravos - February 6, 2012
Love the new unis
….of course, I like the red ones too, but they look better at night. Hopefully they don’t do away with the blue road alternates though.
ronniemac03 - February 6, 2012
Personally, I’d like to see the red unis dumped- they look tacky, especially the cap.
Is that 60’s-style uni the main uni or an alternate, with the 80’s-style the alternate?
For road unis the Blue ones a couple years ago- I’m usually not a fan of nontraditional colors, but it works.

ATLandUNC - February 6, 2012
Does anyone remember last year, I believe during the Civil Rights series, where I suggested that they switch the red alts to Friday or Saturday nights and wear throwbacks on Sundays? I will find it…
abraves257 - February 6, 2012
I recall the conversation/suggestion
leedawg - February 6, 2012
Thank you
Looking for it now
abraves257 - February 6, 2012
Nevermind, no link in archives to the first Open Thread from the 5/15 game. Oh well.
abraves257 - February 6, 2012
well
at least they look better than the Marlins unis
drumzalicious - February 6, 2012
the Turn Ahead the Clock unis were better than the Marlins stuff
nuftjedi - February 7, 2012
Heyward looks a lot thinner.
