The Cubs released right-hander Robinson Lopez, according to Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus (on Twitter). Chicago acquired Lopez from Atlanta in the 2010 Derrek Lee trade.
Remember when everyone was up in arms about trading him?? A candidate to come back into the fold??

He's still pretty young
and worth a chance to see if we can get him going again.

I liked the trade
We needed a 1B at the time and we went out and got one with our surplus of pitching. Having said that I’d still want Lopez back because he’s still young and has a power arm.

I wonder though, did something happen?
For his age, and his stuff, why would the Cubs cut him if not for an off the field issue?
