Doesn't look like we can stash CMart in the minors to help out w/ DL issues like we have in the past. It also looks like Jairo Ascencio is up or out.
I'm going to take a second look through the list and see if there's any potential pickups that may be worthwhile if they don't make other teams' 25-man squads...

I will merely quote our fearless mystical leader:
carpengui - February 15, 2012
I think it’s gonna either be Ascencio or Fish and I think Fish will win out and Ascencio will be traded.
Jay212033 - February 15, 2012
I prefer neither
…and I think we can have a great bullpen that includes neither of them.
biggentleben - February 15, 2012
Fish
He’s a lefty that runs it up there in the mid 90s maybe he could learn some tips from Venters and O’Flaherty but hard throwing lefties don’t grow on trees.
Jay212033 - February 15, 2012
Plus one will more than likely make the with Moylan not being able to start the season.
Jay212033 - February 15, 2012
disagree
with you on CMart, think hes a solid asset for us
Rodrda01 - February 15, 2012
Huh?
Who mentioned CMart?
I stated I would rather see a bullpen without Fish and Ascencio as I do not believe they are one of the best arms the Braves can take North.
biggentleben - February 16, 2012
I think given the choice between Ascencio being the last guy in the pen, and doing a decent job of it, or burning Vizcaino’s service time clock, I say let Vizcaino start in AAA and Ascencio can fill in Linebrink’s old job.
Gearrin deserves a shot as well.
Broccoman - February 16, 2012
This is true
Though if Vizzy is intended to be added to the back end trio and put together a shut-down core of the pen, I’m all for it. If he’s going to be a 5th-6th inning guy in low-impact situations, I’d rather see him starting at AAA.
biggentleben - February 16, 2012
I think adding Medlen
turns that in to a shut down core without having to sacrifice service time or development of Vizcaino. If he improves a change up, he could be an amazing starter. And with Kimbrel, Venters, O’Flaherty, Medlen, among others, just how much use would he get out of the ‘pen? We have enough good arms there, no need to waste Vizcaino’s development.
Mr. Sanchez - February 16, 2012
I don't disagree
I just think there’s a definite non-zero chance that Vizcaino shows enough in spring training that sending him down is simply not in the best interest of the team.
biggentleben - February 16, 2012
replied to the wrong person
one up from you he says he thinks the last spot will be either Ascencio or Fish, so im assuming he’s saying CMart, who is mentioned as out of options, would not make the squad. that i would disagee with.
Rodrda01 - February 16, 2012
You're still off
The BP as it stands looks like this
Martinez
Varvaro
Medlen
O’Flaherty
Venters
Kimbrel
Leaving one spot for several guys until Moylan is healthy. And unless of the guys with options remaining really impress I think either Fish or Ascencio will get the last spot.
Jay212033 - February 16, 2012
One good thing, the guys we’re talking about for the last two spots in the pen, would be 7th inning guys on many teams. We have 5 guys who I’d trust to close games on the roster (Medlen, C-Mart, O’Ventbrel)
