I think he’ll be a great hitting coach. It sounds like he’s always learning, has a good rapport with the players and is willing to work with anyone that’s willing to work with him. It doesn’t hurt that I liked him (and Scitt Fletcher) when he was playing for the White Sox, either.
What a great interview. Noticed he was wearing the new alternative jersey too.
In that short clip, it seems he’s excited to be with the organization and I like his no-nonsense approach and honesty that nobody knows enough about the art of hitting a baseball.
Gotta love the fact he said that when everybody else is down on a player, it’s his job to be in his corner no matter what.
Best part for me was, he said he wanted to get to know the players personally before trying to “coach” them.
Completely agree and have very positive feelings about his ability to work effectively with Chipper to help the rest of the guys get on track and stay there.
I hope he can help us put up consistently good at-bats, a la 2010 Braves.
I was greatly encouraged by Wren’s comments following the September collapse last year. He plainly stated that the team was giving away at-bats. Then he cited the kind of at-bats we saw from the Phillies against us in the final series of the season, and said that should be our goal.
Let’s all hope Walker shares this (presumably since he was hired not long after Wren’s comments, he does), and that the players buy in.
Sounds like a good guy to work with. Open to any kind of teaching style or technique and learning new things.

He definitely gives off an old school mentality. I can see why Fredi would like him. Also, the enthusiasm is good to hear.
