Wilson for the error. Bourn with the moronic steal of 3rd. Fredi for leaving in Linebrink with the season on the line and better options available. Fredi for benching Heyward for the walking out Matt Diaz.
Yeah, just bizarre. As I’ve maintained all season, Fredi just doesn’t know the strength and weaknesses of his players. Linebrink is the very last option out of the bullpen, when you have potential starters than can go in.
Yeah. That was what did it. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that hitters that are paid millions of dollars couldn’t scratch out a run in 10 innings, half of which were against their subs. Fredi told them to do that.
I’m a troll?? That’s hilarious. Just because I point out the huge logical fail that you all perpetuate I’m a troll. Yep. That’s me. I actually blame the players for not hitting and I’m a troll. Wow.
I have never in my life seen someone so inept at it as Fredi. It’s like he thinks he’s playing MLB live! There arms don’t just magically stay good after coming in ever god damned game!
Yeah, he just wanted to kill them. It had nothing to do with the fact the team couldn’t hit for shit all year and we played 1 million extra inning games. God forbid anyone hold (insert name of your man crush hero here) accountable for not, you know, actually producing at the plate. Oh yeah, that’s Parrish’s fault. Chipper and Mac must have been afraid that if they didn’t hack away at shit pitches like larry told them to they would be benched. What a bunch of morons you all are.
finish that one and we would have been chilling today getting ready to go to Milwaukee… Instead they’re packing their lockers. I’ll volunteer to personally go pack all of Fredi’s stuff if he gets canned
Um, by blaming every guy on the team that couldn’t put up one run in 10 innings, half of which were against the dregs of the Phillies bullpen? He probably just said to hell with it, we are never scoring again anyway so why not pitch to him and get it over with.
If you can’t understand that if anyone on this team could hit at all the last month, hell the last week or the last two days, he isn’t in the position to make the majority of those decisions then you are right, we are done. In fact, I’m waiting for the ban hammer any moment. According to you a hitter’s only job is not to make outs (we sure heard that enough this year) – there sure were a lot of guys not doing their job. But that’s irrelevant because Fredi shouldn’t have called for a steal or pitched to a guy.
He made bad lineups, he played the wrong players, he constantly wasted outs with poor hit and runs or bad bunt. Fredi and Parrish wanted a over aggressive hitting philosophy and that help create this terrible free swinging offense. He overused his bullpen constantly earlier in the season. There is plenty of blame for Fredi.
It’s been a pleasure coming to this site and being around most of you great people. Aside from the trolls, we have such great fans on this site that live and die with every pitch, each game of the season.
We’ll get em next year, and I’ll see you here then. Take care.
It’s like a TV show with an excellent script, a very solid cast of great actors, most classically trained, people who really enjoy the craft, and armed with a great special effects budget, that’s just shitty writing. They give you an excellent premise that draws you in, and then they make all the characters act like idiots, and you feel terrible because even excellent actors can’t pull off the shit dialogue that they’re given. I mean, it’s like season 3 of Heroes, or something.
A bunch of excellent hitters, and this year, they’ve all become one of the most impatient bunches in the big leagues, despite that having NEVER been a defining trait for any of them before. Chipper and Heyward are both players who are famously selective about their pitchers, and they both suffered extreme declines in BB%. Then there’s guys like Prado and Gonzalez, who just decided to be even more impatient that they normally are. I know that coaching doesn’t have a huge effect, but you can’t tell me that is ZERO effect, and when I seem a team-wide reluctance to draw walks or to take pitches, I think it’s got to do with the aggressive philosophy at the plate. Especially since it’s what they default to in big situations: They swing first instead of becoming more selective, looking for the perfect pitch to hit.
but any semi-competent MLB manager could have won with Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz just like any manager in the league could have won 100 with the Phils this year.
You all have made my evenings so much more enjoyable when I watch the Braves games.
They are so different when I DVR them and watch later, and if I miss one, I always wonder what you all have been up to.
Not even a sell out for this game? I went to last night’s game and I must say Braves’ fans are bad baseball fans. Doing the wave, chanting during EVERY Brian McCann at bat, moving behind the home plate during a pitch. START TREATING BRAVES GAMES LIKE A GOLF GAME! SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN! Let your team concentrate. Moving forward all we can do as fans is make it better to play in Atlanta.
I haven’t been around this site much at all this season. Guess having a new baby takes some of your time. But I’ve enjoyed this place for the last few seasons to celebrate and commiserate with fellow Braves fans.
It’s going to take a good while to forget about this. Collapsing over a couple months or so is one thing but dropping an 8 1/2 game lead in one month. Unbelievable! It’s just so sad to say and continually realize that the Braves are such a successful franchise while being a very unsuccessful franchise at the same time. Sheesh.
Did you even look at the stands? EMPTY!!! Your team is fighting to get to the playoffs, and the place has a ton of empty seats. I could buy season Tix for this team RIGHT NOW. But I won’t. That little thing of living 600 miles from the stadium might have something to do with it.
That was epic. You all were talking so much shit to start the month and ONCE again we come in and rape you LOLLLLL. Fucking chokers! And we beat you with our minor league team! hahahahahaha GO PHILS!! 102 wins!
You’re right, we do have a lot of good players, and it does indeed hurt to barely miss the playoffs. That you’d come here to tell us how great our season was and wish us luck next year rather than just celebrating your victory with your friends and loved ones is very kind.
Thank you dude. This shit hurts, as meaningless of an asshole as he was, I know that I would never do that, so I appreciate your efforts to try to civilize your smallfolk.
At least we don't have to endure this torture anymore
I want Fredi gone. He was terrible. Even Orel knew he blew it tonight. This team looked defeated as soon as the tying run scored in the 9th. I’m so glad i don’t have to watch this team for another 6 months.
I suppose it's with kind of a masocistic pleasure that I'm surfing this thread.
I told myself I wasn’t going to look in here after the game, but with the way that ended…Terrible way to end a season. Clutch players not coming through, O’Ventbrel blowing it, and getting beat by the Phillies. by golly there’s a lotta self hate going on on this end.
Seriously, I called this shit before the season, but I want the Braves to succeed so I can’t pull against him. But over the course of the season he made me realize every nightmare I’d ever had about his coaching “style.”
Over aggressive is the theme of the season. Just can’t be swinging at so many pitches out of the zone and running into so many outs. I just hope next season we develop a less homer or bust mentality.
at least major league teams that are capable of playing baseball in the major leagues will be in the playoffs. The Braves might as well be removed from Turner Field by gurneys. Why the fck are they even interviewing that idiot Fredi Gonzales?! Does he even know where he is?
Absolutely disgraceful!
Frank Wren & the Braves front office have a LOT figure out this offseason!
To all the fans- please don’t do anything stupid. Next year looks to be even more promising. Trolls aren’t worth your time.
Hopefully the Braves can get something done over the winter to improve themselves, but even if they run out the same exact guys next year with the same manager and the same hitting coach, these are still my Braves and I’ll still be rooting for them. I hope you will be too.
This is my first season with TC so I don’t know what winters are like but if at all possible I’d still like to chat with you all- not being a football fan, winter is awfully lonely without the Bravos. Hope to see you all soon!
Keep getting mowed down by Schwimmer. Pathetic.

He was doing okay until walk.
nypeach83 - September 28, 2011
Yeah, just bizarre. As I’ve maintained all season, Fredi just doesn’t know the strength and weaknesses of his players. Linebrink is the very last option out of the bullpen, when you have potential starters than can go in.

leedawg - September 28, 2011
Yeah. That was what did it. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that hitters that are paid millions of dollars couldn’t scratch out a run in 10 innings, half of which were against their subs. Fredi told them to do that.

for this terrible September all we needed was a 1 play in multiple games and we didn’t get it.
fizler - September 28, 2011
I don’t think I pitch to Pence there, but that’s just me…
Chipper Pwns - September 28, 2011
How can you NOT blame Fredi?
justincredubil02 - September 28, 2011
Um, by blaming every guy on the team that couldn’t put up one run in 10 innings, half of which were against the dregs of the Phillies bullpen? He probably just said to hell with it, we are never scoring again anyway so why not pitch to him and get it over with.
T.P. - September 28, 2011
This team has had a much larger problem than lack of timely hitting all season long.
That problem is Fredi Gonzalez.
justincredubil02 - September 29, 2011
Please quantify how that is a bigger problem than timely hitting. Connie Mack could be manager and if you don’t score runs you won’t win.
T.P. - September 29, 2011
If you can’t understand how a manager who constantly makes terrible decisions is worse than a lack of timely hitting, then we’re done here.
justincredubil02 - September 29, 2011
Managerial decisions, like play calling,
are absolutely grossly overrated.
J Tadpole - September 29, 2011
If you can’t understand that if anyone on this team could hit at all the last month, hell the last week or the last two days, he isn’t in the position to make the majority of those decisions then you are right, we are done. In fact, I’m waiting for the ban hammer any moment. According to you a hitter’s only job is not to make outs (we sure heard that enough this year) – there sure were a lot of guys not doing their job. But that’s irrelevant because Fredi shouldn’t have called for a steal or pitched to a guy.
T.P. - September 29, 2011
Also, that roughly translates as “I can’t quantify it or justify my argument so I’ll take my ball and go home”.
T.P. - September 29, 2011
ATLtruth - September 29, 2011
i'm still in shock
my entire 2011 is ruined
LEastCoastBears - September 28, 2011
I can’t believe that I have to wait 5 months to get this terrible fucking taste out of my mouth.
GumpBrave - September 28, 2011
I'm gonna need at least three years.

twss
Sabean's_Folly - September 28, 2011
Look on the bright side, the Boston Red Sox will take up the media coverage.
Chipper Pwns - September 28, 2011
That literally means nothing to me.
GumpBrave - September 28, 2011
It means that I don’t have to avoid ESPN for several months every time a baseball program comes on.
Chipper Pwns - September 28, 2011
Take care folks, until next season
It’s been a pleasure coming to this site and being around most of you great people. Aside from the trolls, we have such great fans on this site that live and die with every pitch, each game of the season.
We’ll get em next year, and I’ll see you here then. Take care.
DolphinNation - September 28, 2011

Guess I’m getting a refund for my 4 tickets for tomorrow’s play-in game……
Dale Murphy for HOF - September 28, 2011
It's been a pleasure sharing this season with you guys
I just wish….
Bronn - September 28, 2011
Honestly, here's how I feel about this team
Bronn - September 28, 2011
Dead on
Rec’d
-InsertWittyNameHere- - September 28, 2011
Damn it

I'm flagging YOU then
lol
Bronn - September 29, 2011
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
-InsertWittyNameHere- - September 29, 2011
so basically it was a dan uggla home run.... and that's all
one hit, and that’s it
Stephen M - September 28, 2011
And running into 2 outs on the bases
pbrfan - September 28, 2011
I still say one of those was a shit call.
Bronn - September 28, 2011
What a damn shame.
Smitty89 - September 28, 2011
And this is the difference between Bobby Cox and Fredi Gonzalez
Say what you will about Bobby, but his teams ALWAYS won games like this at the end of the season.
AmgineRmEht - September 28, 2011
with Bobby braves would've been in playoff in mid-August
joshant - September 28, 2011
Is that why he missed the playoffs every year from 2006-2009?
J Tadpole - September 28, 2011
because we didn't have any good talent?
bob wickman and chris reitsma were closers at one point, you have to atleast have a team to compete
JasonHeywardisGod - September 28, 2011
He never had great closers.
What he did have was the greatest pitching staff in league history.
J Tadpole - September 28, 2011
He had a pretty bad staff from 06-09
justincredubil02 - September 28, 2011
Off and on I guess
but any semi-competent MLB manager could have won with Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz just like any manager in the league could have won 100 with the Phils this year.
J Tadpole - September 28, 2011
This shit still never happened under Bobby
Not even fucking close to it. The worst you can say is that everyone choked in the 2003 NLDS, when we had a super-star offense.
Bronn - September 28, 2011
This particular thing, no.
Bobby was not a great game manager though. He was a great motivator.
J Tadpole - September 28, 2011
Fredi is neither.
justincredubil02 - September 28, 2011
And this team didn't look motivated even a week ago. One freaking win against the Cards
One more freakign win against the Mets, or the Nats, and this shit never happens.
Bronn - September 28, 2011
Is that the manager though?
These are grown men after all. Don’t you remember Bobby’s Braves getting criticized in the media for lack of fire?
J Tadpole - September 29, 2011
Yes, that’s completely the manager.
justincredubil02 - September 29, 2011
Disagree.
Look at Victorino. Can’t stand him, but that guy’s a pro.
J Tadpole - September 29, 2011
I’m not sure what that has to do with anything.
justincredubil02 - September 29, 2011
He doesn't need a manager to motivate him.
J Tadpole - September 29, 2011
I wish someone after this game...WOULD JUST SAY WE FUCKING SUCKED....Enough bullshit that we tried..it's bullshit you SUCKED
supyoscn - September 28, 2011
what do the bravos need to do in the offseason>
radamez85 - September 28, 2011
who cares until april.....
supyoscn - September 28, 2011
Bring Pujols, Reyes, Fielder
and fired Freddi and Parrish
joshant - September 28, 2011
Wipe this month from their minds.
Smitty89 - September 28, 2011
Sell the team to Jay Z and move to Brooklyn?

5 months til this one stops hurting...
SouthernPanther - September 28, 2011
cant wait for the Fredi quotes
“Tip your cap” and “we did this to ourselves” i hope they fire him
Erihury - September 28, 2011
The only Fredi quote I want to hear is his resignation.
We need Vince McMahon to buy the Braves.
Broccoman - September 28, 2011
linebrink on the mound, pence with the bloop hit, and a vidro to end the game
could we have lost any worse way
Stephen M - September 28, 2011
Well its been real and its been fun

samxrm - September 28, 2011
You all have made my evenings so much more enjoyable when I watch the Braves games.
They are so different when I DVR them and watch later, and if I miss one, I always wonder what you all have been up to.
We’re an eclectic bunch, but it’s great :-)
NCChopper - September 28, 2011
everybody will remember this collapse until other team not name Braves
can blow 9 game difference in September
joshant - September 28, 2011
isn’t that mathimatically impossible….OH WAIT
supyoscn - September 28, 2011
Not even a sell out for this game? I went to last night’s game and I must say Braves’ fans are bad baseball fans. Doing the wave, chanting during EVERY Brian McCann at bat, moving behind the home plate during a pitch. START TREATING BRAVES GAMES LIKE A GOLF GAME! SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN! Let your team concentrate. Moving forward all we can do as fans is make it better to play in Atlanta.
BeatTehMets - September 28, 2011
Awful
I haven’t been around this site much at all this season. Guess having a new baby takes some of your time. But I’ve enjoyed this place for the last few seasons to celebrate and commiserate with fellow Braves fans.
It’s going to take a good while to forget about this. Collapsing over a couple months or so is one thing but dropping an 8 1/2 game lead in one month. Unbelievable! It’s just so sad to say and continually realize that the Braves are such a successful franchise while being a very unsuccessful franchise at the same time. Sheesh.
pthatch - September 28, 2011
If this entire coaching staff isn’t fired, someone can have my season tickets.
NCBraves - September 28, 2011
Dibs
Andy Kim - September 28, 2011
You're calling dibs?
Did you even look at the stands? EMPTY!!! Your team is fighting to get to the playoffs, and the place has a ton of empty seats. I could buy season Tix for this team RIGHT NOW. But I won’t. That little thing of living 600 miles from the stadium might have something to do with it.
KNo1 - September 29, 2011
This really is
a total shit-the-bed. Nobody took this from us, Even a below average month would have taken the thing. This is just fucking insanity.
J Tadpole - September 28, 2011
I think now
all baseball fan is suscribing to TC to see braves fan post
joshant - September 28, 2011

That was epic. You all were talking so much shit to start the month and ONCE again we come in and rape you LOLLLLL. Fucking chokers! And we beat you with our minor league team! hahahahahaha GO PHILS!! 102 wins!

NCBraves - September 28, 2011

You fall under this category.
Smitty89 - September 28, 2011
Thanks for keeping Chipper in your thoughts, I’m sure he’ll be fine though.
Who is your girl going to be thinking about?
Lennox - September 28, 2011
Apparently, since a few Braves fans enjoy talking shit
A few Philly fans think that kicking the dog is cool.
Bronn - September 28, 2011
course they do
with that dogkiller as QB who they love.
walknbalk - September 28, 2011
Wait a sec
Isnt he from Atlanta? Whoops.. I think they cheered him louder then those philly people did whoops!
jeffh911 - September 28, 2011
Actually, he’s from Newport News, Virginia.
justincredubil02 - September 29, 2011
lol
no hes not he played in Atlanta so he must be from there
Erihury - September 29, 2011
Sounds like the Phillies at the game I went to
I was wearing my Chipper jersey, and they started talking shit about the city of Atlanta and about the Falcons.
I was like “Dude, I’m from Virginia. I don’t give a shit.”
justincredubil02 - September 29, 2011
You’re right, we do have a lot of good players, and it does indeed hurt to barely miss the playoffs. That you’d come here to tell us how great our season was and wish us luck next year rather than just celebrating your victory with your friends and loved ones is very kind.
You’re one of the good ones.
Lennox - September 28, 2011
Seriously dude, go away. I don’t even care that you’re making Phils fans look bad. You’re being a certifiable jackass. Go away.

GumpBrave - September 29, 2011
For the record, he’s never posted on TGP, and I’ll speak to the higher-ups to make sure he doesn’t.

Much appreciate, I’m glad that fandom doesn’t supersede civility in your mind. One of the good ones.
GumpBrave - September 29, 2011
Your minor league team?
The only one who didn’t play the whole game was Howard.
jtballard2 - September 29, 2011
At least we don't have to endure this torture anymore
I want Fredi gone. He was terrible. Even Orel knew he blew it tonight. This team looked defeated as soon as the tying run scored in the 9th. I’m so glad i don’t have to watch this team for another 6 months.
It’s like i’ve been paroled.
bdr9977 - September 28, 2011
I suppose it's with kind of a masocistic pleasure that I'm surfing this thread.
I told myself I wasn’t going to look in here after the game, but with the way that ended…Terrible way to end a season. Clutch players not coming through, O’Ventbrel blowing it, and getting beat by the Phillies. by golly there’s a lotta self hate going on on this end.

No use hanging in this threat any more tonight
To all the fans- please don’t do anything stupid. Next year looks to be even more promising. Trolls aren’t worth your time.
Hopefully the Braves can get something done over the winter to improve themselves, but even if they run out the same exact guys next year with the same manager and the same hitting coach, these are still my Braves and I’ll still be rooting for them. I hope you will be too.
This is my first season with TC so I don’t know what winters are like but if at all possible I’d still like to chat with you all- not being a football fan, winter is awfully lonely without the Bravos. Hope to see you all soon!
