Randall Delgado takes on Cliff Lee in game one of the season ending series. First pitch is at 7:10 PM EDT. Braves lineup:
- Michael Bourn, CF
- Martin Prado, LF
- Chipper Jones, 3B
- Dan Uggla, 2B
- Freddie Freeman, 1B
- Brian McCann, C
- Matt Diaz, RF
- Alex Gonzalez
Good to see Gonzalez back in the lineup after missing a few games due to injury.
Go Braves!
And by the way, Bacardi Oakheart tastes awful… a rep brought it by the bar to try and get us to carry it.
dcbravesfn - September 26, 2011
It sounds awful
Manning to Heyward - September 26, 2011
Its called oak heart
because they actually press out the absorbed liquid in the wood of the barrel to get this stuff. Its the dreg of dregs. and tastes like your licking the bottom of a rum barrel. Except if you actually did you might get a splinter, taking your mind off the bad taste.
dcbravesfn - September 26, 2011
It’s crunch time. Make or break. Gotta do it ourselves, can’t rely on those ’Stros.
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
I wrote it in the attendance thread
but sorry for doing the Price is Right thing to your guess. I didn’t actually mean to do it, it was the random number that popped in my head.
dcbravesfn - September 26, 2011
.
Price is Right
leedawg - September 26, 2011
It’s cool. I got a tight window but I’m feeling real good about 44,111
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
Let's Go Braves!!!!!
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
I won't
be able to watch the post season at all if the Braves don’t make it. Hopefully, they make it so I can watch some MLB playoffs.
LETS GO BRAVESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PhuckthePhillies - September 26, 2011
I'm going to call it
Matt Diaz’s first HR of the year coming up today
LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011
yay..! another thunderdome thread...!
Bizarros - September 26, 2011
Braves just need to be patient
I know Cliff Lee throws a lot of strikes and the usual strategy is to attack him early, but he is on a pitch count, supposedly. A patient approach like what they did against Strasburg on Friday may just be what’s needed to get that elusive W.
LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011
You know things have gotten out of control when seeing Alex Gonzalez back in the lineup is a cause for a parade.
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011

Hey im headed to the ted but am gonna be late, what’s the chances of a rain delay? Hoping were delayed 30 min or so!

The orange marker is Turner Field. They’ll be fine tonight. They may get a stray shower in two hours or so, but nothing that will impact the game.
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
lets go braves lets win tonight and put the pressure on the cards !!!
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
Early runs for us would be nice. We should get 3-4 innings in before they get going
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Lose tonight and we're done.
That’s all.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
I guess you're writing Lowe completely off
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Absolutely.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
I'm more worried about us scoring
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Considering we just got Wang'd and Detwiler'd
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Well, that too.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
Cy Wang and Cy Detwiler are aces. Cliff “Hobo” Lee is some cast-off from the Royals, isn’t he? The Braves will hit him hard.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
WIN
that is all
TonyAlmeyda - September 26, 2011
From WSB
“One of the largest Monday night crowds in Turner Field history expected tonight”

Maybe the fans will somehow will the team to win.

Time for Diaz to have 1 good game as a Brave in 2011
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
An early, career defining game for Delgado tonight
I can feel it
sidbreamsstache - September 26, 2011
I'm here, rooting for the BRAVES tonight.
Because, come October 28th, I will be wishing I could see even a mediocre playing Braves team on the field on my TV.

It’s a long time from Nov-April and I am going to enjoy these next 3 games no matter the outcome.
October Braves baseball will just be a bonus :-)
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
Let’s just hope you aren’t waiting Sep-April…..
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
this
leedawg - September 26, 2011
This is true
I’ll still be watching next season whether they play in the postseason this year or not.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
Glavine in the booth. Maybe he'll bring some good luck
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
LET'S GO WANDY
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Very much, “LET’S GO WANDY”. A Cardinals loss and a Braves win today would restore confidence in the team and the entire fanbase.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Am I being too cynical when I feel more comfortable about our chances of winning tonight as opposed to tomorrow night?
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Lowe is going to pitch 7 shutout innings
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
You do know that there is no such thing as the Easter Bunny, right?
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Braves can pull Lowe early if needed. They can’t pull Lee early.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
I feel more comfortable tonight, but only because the Braves usually handle Cliff Lee reasonably well.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
I desperately want a win today.
Make it so, Bravos….make it so.
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011

Yeah, youre right, miss read the question
Beachy Keen - September 26, 2011
D-Backs own the tiebreaker if we hold on
otherwise it would be Phillies-Cards
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Actually, this...
Wildcard will be the team that owns the season record against the other.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
rock paper scissors
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
if we dont make it...
do we really care….?
Bizarros - September 26, 2011
Assuming the wild card is in the same division as the Phillies, the Phillies will get whichever of those they had the better in-season record against (I think?).

And I thought wrong.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011

I’ma be pissed.
-C

My MLBN is Baltimore-Boston, too – but I live in the Baltimore-D.C. suburbs.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
I’m in Denver, so I don’t fall under a regional bias. One would think the NL game would be playing in an NL city.
-C
cthabeerman - September 26, 2011
see 3 lines below
leedawg - September 26, 2011
The way it works...
MLBN decides to show a particular game. If you are in the viewing area of one of those teams, it is blacked out and you get the alternate game. So only people in Blatimore/Boston are getting the Phillies and Braves
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
That can't be right.
I’m right outside Baltimore and getting the Baltimore/Boston game.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
That’s the way it was explained to me by someone who claimed to actually know. It’s made sense ever since then, so I figured it was true. Perhaps it isn’t…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Well, actually…your explanation is correct for 99% of cases. I think MLBN is just screwing with me tonight.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Maybe it’s Brian Kenny’s fault.
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011

AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011

Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011
/Constanza’d
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Yes, let's give a guy some at-bats because he's the "future of our franchise", even though he's awful against lefties and we're in a playoff race.
Genius!
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
If you want to get Matt Diaz some at-bats against lefties, sit Prado – who has been worse than Heyward this year.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Diaz’s defense scares me less than Heyward’s.
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
That’s like saying you are more scared of Martha Stewart than Adolf Hitler.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I am more scared of Martha Stewart. She’s a sneaky bitch. I know what to expect with Hitler…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Makes sense to me...
Hitler can hardly hurt me from the grave.
And Heyward hasn’t exactly been great defensively…
-C
cthabeerman - September 26, 2011
He’s been exactly great defensively according to DRS, in which he leads all Braves. I think he’s among the RF leaders for all of baseball.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Does that measure laziness?
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
No, but it measures results.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
He does do a phenomenal job of fielding balls on a hop or two and getting them back into the infield…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
You are speaking total nonsense.
It’s useless to further discuss this if you are going to make crap up.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
If I were gonna make something up, I’d come up with a three letter acronym and follow it with a plus or minus sign and some number in decimal form. I would not make up something like a simple observation, though.
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Agreed 100%.
He is amazing out there.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Jaded. I have no problem with disagreeing on it, but amazing? I’ve seen Hinske make more amazing plays in the outfield than I’ve ever seen Heyward make…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
aaaaaaaand
we’re done here
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
ChopMaster? That you?
leedawg - September 26, 2011
lol, no not quite.
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
DRS loves him...
UZR says he’s okay.
Love his range, but his arm is not accurate at all and runners aren’t afraid to run on him.
-C
cthabeerman - September 26, 2011
And arm is the least important component of defense, but highly visible. Range is substantially more valuable
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Both have him substantially better than Diaz. So that this is even being debated is ridiculous. Neither the metrics or the eye test support Diaz over Heyward in any universe.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
I never argued anything about Diaz, either way. I don’t think Heyward is great defensively. He’s good, and as I mentioned, he’s got range. But he’s not infallible defensively, as some think.
-C
cthabeerman - September 26, 2011
Oh I’m not at all trying to say that Diaz is better. I’m just saying the he certainly doesn’t make me any feel less comfortable than I would be with Heyward out there…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
You haven’t watched much baseball then. Heyward is an order of magnitude better.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Same results, but at least Diaz look’s like he’s trying. Heyward takes lazy routes and seems to give up on way too many…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Yeah, I’m not sure you are giving an accurate description of Heyward there.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
He “looks” like he’s trying, gotcha. Feel free to return with some objective evidence.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
I don’t do sabre, I watch games. He looks lazy out there at times. That’s all I’m saying. With Diaz, at least I know he’ll give it everything he’s got…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
He’s not lazy out there.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Honestly, I think sometimes it’s his stride. It makes him looking like he’s jogging, so when he doesn’t catch up to a ball it frustrates me. But I don’t think that’s the case all of the time…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
you know what the explanation is already
whether you like it or not, it is what it is
leedawg - September 26, 2011
I thought Fredi had grown out of this childishness when Heyward started like 8 games in a row.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
probably just happened to be 8 RHP in a row
leedawg - September 26, 2011
And yet, Prado starts every day and hits 2nd…
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
you know the response for that as well
Track Record, back of baseball card, etc… No point in even arguing about it today, just add it to your list of reasons why you hate FG, and fanpost it in the offseason- hopefully that’s not this weekend
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Has been all RHPs lately. Even though Diaz has been horrific as a Brave and Heyward has been one of the best hitters this month. Plus he’s substantially better in the field.

Bronn - September 26, 2011
Ahhh Uggla
a tad short. Good double.
nypeach83 - September 26, 2011
Seemed like he got it a bit off the end of the bat. Still a good swing.
StapleGun - September 26, 2011
Uh oh, someone brought their bats to the stadium today.
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
Yes, he did
Kudos to the equipment manager! Without him, none of the is possible!
Bronn - September 26, 2011
I hope Fredi is taking notes, that might be his job next year.

Ump sucks
Gameday shows that the ball fell like 20 ft behind the fence and they ruled it as a double

leedawg - September 26, 2011
Ok, so at the game on Saturday
in the 8th inning, when Marmol decided to keep the Cardinals playoff hopes alive by loading the bases, after every pitch in the Braves game, the entire Braves infield would turn around and look at the scoreboard.
I got a picture of Freeman and Wilson doing it…I’ll share it with you guys later after I upload it.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I had a feeling they were doing that
biggjoe404 - September 26, 2011
Chipper showed up
Not surprised
Frozen Fan - September 26, 2011
Let's go Randall Delgado, shut em down!
Beachy Keen - September 26, 2011
Shut em down, Delgado.
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Keep it up Randy. Shut em down
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
And shut'em up.

And send ’em home.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Chipper. I tip my cap to ya..
ebraves - September 26, 2011
I feel like I time-traveled 10 years in the past watching Chipper hit that ball.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
The mushrooms I took early are really exacerbating that effect.
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
Watching Chipper's comments there...
…makes me wonder just what kind of manager he would be.
How do you think he would manage this group of guys differently (or not) than Fredi?
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
We would certainly be higher on carpengi’s list of offensive categories.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I still have my Chipper poster on my wall, 11 years later.
Maybe i’ll get another one.
TheMelkHasSpoiled - September 26, 2011
Does it have his name at the top and three pictures of him?
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
Yeah, how'd you know?
Real big CHIPPER and under it, Chipper Jones, and 3 pictures.
TheMelkHasSpoiled - September 26, 2011
I’ve got the one that says “WIND” underneath him from about 1998. It was part of an elements series. Smoltz was Fire, I forget what the others were.

Question for you....
IF the Braves make the playoffs and….
IF they win the NLDS and….
IF the Phillies also win their NLDS…..
Will you be heading to Philadelphia for games there?
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
IF I can get a ticket, yes!

EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
I actually had a good time with them. After the Phillies walked-off on us in the 9th, I heard it from all sides, but it was all good natured.
During the game, one guy was trying to start crap with me about the city of Atlanta and the Falcons. The joke was on him though, as I’m not from Atlanta, and I’m a Jaguars fan….then again, the last part that I just said kind of makes the joke on me again…

justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Nothing racist about it....
Don’t you remember that article Jacob wrote last year, showing that Takashi Saito was lights out on 2 days rest between uses, but was complete trash when used in consecutive game relief appearances?
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
anytime you see “/racist” it’s probably a joke.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I knew it was a joke, I just didn’t see the context for even attempting it. It confused me.

Great at-bat by Bourn though; total flip-flop from yesterday’s mess.

I use MLB.tv and never have this issue. Are you watching it on a ps3, perhaps?
Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011
I’m using my PS3 ATM, so I’m delayed as well.
When I just use my computer, I think I am actually ahead of the FSS feed.

It’s hit or miss. Right now, it’s fairly good.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011

LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011
It is because of the NexDef plugin. You can disable it.

wpf3211 - September 26, 2011

LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011
I don't remember the last time bourn drove in a run

It seems like forever since I’ve seen him do it.

Kelly Johnson took offense to that.
ebraves - September 26, 2011

abraves257 - September 26, 2011
I guess I was referring to Johnson’s dropped pop up catch a couple years back. (last out i think?)
ebraves - September 26, 2011
I was making a pun… a terrible one at that
abraves257 - September 26, 2011

Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011

abraves257 - September 26, 2011
There were some fans — with a “wild hats for wild card” sign.
The guy on the left had an octopus hat that was orange. The guy on the right had a Native American headdress. The guy in the center had a regular cowboy-y hat on.

EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Could Randall

nypeach83 - September 26, 2011
if we made it to the nlcs yes but not the nlds ive herd and he should be in insted of lowe but we know that wont happen
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
If JJ and Hanson are both still out
And with the new postseason schedules making 3-man rotations less of an option, I’d say it’s definitely possible.
Andy Kim - September 26, 2011
If he keeps this up, I’d certainly consider it. Out of all the rookies (save maybe Beachy), he seems the most unrattled by pressure
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Indeed. That’s why I’m hopeful. I love the composure.
nypeach83 - September 26, 2011
Im not so sure he is eligible.
Atleast not until the NLCS with possible implications. The Braves dont have a player on the 60 day DL to replace, nor was Delgado, or for that matter Teheran, on the 25 man roster on Aug 31st this season. Both were reassigned before the 31st and called back up a week or so into sept.
aRC - September 26, 2011
doesn't matter
just have to be in the organization by the 31st
leedawg - September 26, 2011
As per wikipedia and how I have always understood the rule...
aRC - September 26, 2011
DOB has been over this several times
and you just quoted wikipedia, so you’re 0 for 2
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Wow
Just wow. Youre cool tho.
aRC - September 26, 2011
Being eligible is one thing. I figure most people know that he IS eligible as is everyone in the org., thats besides the point. What I was focusing on is the fact that there wasnt a player on our roster on the 60 day DL. Which IS the rule.
Nevermind that tho, I forgot Moylan just went down for the season. Most likely on the 60 day DL.
Please dont be an asshole. Its insanely unbecoming.
aRC - September 26, 2011
9-pitch inning for Delgado

unreel20 - September 26, 2011

Long time lurker
Figured I’d change things up and see if I could help the team.

DolphinNation - September 26, 2011

We aren’t as bad as we seem. I lurked for a long time before posting, now I consider myself a happy, well-adjusted member of TC.
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
Very true,

"Well-adjusted member of TC"
An oxymoron if I ever heard one….
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Well-adjusted to TC
BeatTehMets - September 26, 2011
So….well-adjusted to not being very well-adjusted?
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
It’s all about context I suppose.
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
My superstition brought me here. We always seem to win games when I’m on the thread. Do I really believe in that stuff? Not really. But now isn’t the time to mess around…

That’s the reason for the lack of K’s, but he’s looking great otherwise.

Stephen M - September 26, 2011
Yea I like the Red Sox collapse taking the brunt of the scrutiny from us, even though both collapses were almost identical.
StapleGun - September 26, 2011
There’s actually got to .5 games, and if they complete the fall, it would allow a divisional rival to go to the playoffs.
I completely understand why it gets more attention.

TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
Linebrink?
Aaron Meier - September 26, 2011
Every member of the bullpen should be prepared to go multiple innings with the lead. The fact that Linebrink was warming is utterly bizarre to me. Off the top of my head, he’s the 5th or 6th best option out of the bullpen.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Kimbrel
Venters
O’Flaherty
Sherrill (for lefties)
Varvaro (for righties)
Martinez/Medlen
Vizcaino
So if you need 1 out, Linebrink is actually the 9th best option

justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
When playing well, I’ll go with Prado.
DolphinNation - September 26, 2011
Prado doesn’t walk though. He slaps and can occasionally turn on a ball.
Freddie can hit to all fields, hit for avg, hit for power and take a walk.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I have the most confidence in him with an 0-2 count
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011

Swing is way off
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
He's gotta be hurt.
He’s just gotta be
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
His body looks out of sorts in his swing. Too busy, falling all over the place.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
That’s his M.O. lately.
Aaron Meier - September 26, 2011
Why did Bucknor look at Mac’s face after the check swing? Strange
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Noticed that.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
I think he was looking at the bat for some reason.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I think he was trying to judge his reaction to see if he knew he swung or not.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
7 straight for Lee. Not good
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Can only throw 10 more if we can believe the 75 pitch count.
sidbreamsstache - September 26, 2011
If you bought that
I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell you….
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
I could use a good bridge…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
If you are in Memphis
I can sell you one shaped like an M
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
I think that’s a bit of a ruse.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
agreed
though I would love to see a pinch hitter lead off the 5th
leedawg - September 26, 2011
well looks like he's only gonna go 5
Stephen M - September 26, 2011
A pop up.... from a Brave???? Certainly not!!!!
SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
lol Heavens forbid!
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
65 pitches through 3.2
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
this should be his last inning according to ajc hes on 75 pitch limit
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
I should be studying for law school, but this game is too important.
Chipper Pwns - September 26, 2011
That's what I like to hear
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
You're a great man
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
I'm supposed to be writing a cover letter.
Classic17 - September 26, 2011
Trust me, this game is more important than torts
JCal - September 26, 2011
Great role model
Grey Rider - September 26, 2011 via mobile
RD has not been getting that call
SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
lets go super D
Grey Rider - September 26, 2011 via mobile
This would be a great time for Cptn. Caveman's first HR of the year.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
wow ouchhh
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
Robbed.
nypeach83 - September 26, 2011
Polanco just pulled a Zimmerman.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
did he rob Cptn. caveman of a HR?
If so, Imma have to smack him.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
From 3rd base?
Aaron Meier - September 26, 2011
Huh??
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Nvmd. Forgot what position Polonco played
Move right along….
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
I hate the Phillies
SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
Ughhhhhh Polanco
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Wandy gets out of a jam.
Middle of the 2nd in Houston, 0-0.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
37 pitches. One of the worst bullpens in baseball unfortunately.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
wow.
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Lee's already at 69 pitches through 4
He may already be done if he’s on a 75-pitch limit
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Wow MatyD robbed
HEYJUDE - September 26, 2011
Hey HeyJude!
abraves257 - September 26, 2011
Just….wow.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Ugh our luck...
Of course he caught that.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
Still 0-0 in Houston.
Astros up.
nypeach83 - September 26, 2011
Bottom 2
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Ugh
Aaron Meier - September 26, 2011
Gameday actually behind the streaming radio tonight. Weird.
UMDBHIK - September 26, 2011
On MLBN earlier, someone mentioned that Lee was on a 75 pitch leash tonight.
Anyone else heard that?
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
Apparently it's legit.
AJC reported the same.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
5th and final for RD?
SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
Cardinals blow 1st and 2nd with 1 out
Still 0-0 going into BOT 2
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
come on pinch hitter...........
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Anyone know what the team BABIP has been this month? I bet it’s under .280
UMDBHIK - September 26, 2011
Ok…switching to the mlb.tv on the computer now…MNF is about to start.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I need the Cowgirls defense to get me 7 points or else I lose for the week.
Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011
I need like 20 points from Davis. lol
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I think they'll let Lee pitch the 5th..
Give him a chance to pick up the W. He is a Cy Young candidate…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Yep
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
And alllllmost hit a homer.
Whew.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
If Kershaw doesn't win it
it’s a total injustice
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
Agreed…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
this
leedawg - September 26, 2011
but kershaw doesnt pitch for the phillies
thats one of the rules right?
Stephen M - September 26, 2011
I thought they were giving Verlander both Cy Youngs this year
Classic17 - September 26, 2011
if i had to guess he'll go out for the 5th and if he stays out of trouble will finish the inning
lets cause some trouble though
Stephen M - September 26, 2011
Alright Randall get a quick inning
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Wow…are you kidding?
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Lee is still batting
and almost hit one out
LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011
Wow Prado scares me out there. Way to hold on.

All star play.

Grey Rider - September 26, 2011 via mobile
Good play Martin. Ball really jumping
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
And they wasted an AB of Lee....
I’m ok with that, as long as they pull him in the middle of the bottom half of the inning. Of course, if Fredi were managing the Phillies, he’d be replaced going into the bottom half.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
At least Proctor isn’t here to replace him with anymore
Sky Hawk - September 26, 2011
Welp
Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011
damn it
LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011

leedawg - September 26, 2011

walknbalk - September 26, 2011

EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011

TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
WTFFFFFFFFFUUUUU???
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
There ya go. Of course.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
second time through the order.
Grey Rider - September 26, 2011 via mobile
The ball is flying out tonight.
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Going to have to score 3 at least tonight. Offense have it in ’em?
UMDBHIK - September 26, 2011
Lee is likely going to go only one more inning
And then it’s 4 innings against the bullpen
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Damn.
nypeach83 - September 26, 2011
Shit
Aaron Meier - September 26, 2011
Randall, you probably want to keep the ball down so that that doesn’t happen anymore.
Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011
We're ok here
Get thru the 5th please?
biggjoe404 - September 26, 2011
2 runs was never gonna be enough
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
And we have to stop scoring a run or two and stopping.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
K I’m jinxing us….be back later.
DolphinNation - September 26, 2011
running away, eh?
abraves257 - September 26, 2011
So the key is to not hit it on the ground tonight eh?
It’s carrying for them, they do a little spring jump and catch all of ours.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
Nice play Dan.
delicious_dimes - September 26, 2011
1 more out....
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Damn, that took the air out of me...
Womp
TheMelkHasSpoiled - September 26, 2011
I'd almost rather that happen than him get on and start a rally.
Aaron Meier - September 26, 2011
Home runs are rally killers
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Screw the Phillies
Seriously, I am not an angry person but I have so much disdain for everything about them. Infuriating
BravesDawg16 - September 26, 2011
heyward would've caught that
joshant - September 26, 2011
Frenchy definitely does
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
Get your man Randall
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
that was a strike
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Jimmy Rollins' first home run since August 17
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Naturally
BravesDawg16 - September 26, 2011
okay, let's get the lead back
Come on Braves
LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011
Silver Lining
He didn’t throw a lot of pitches
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Alright… let’s get the lead back now. At least that wasn’t too many pitches for Randall.
delicious_dimes - September 26, 2011
He's probably done. Spot due 2nd
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
this
2 lefties up in the 6th… perfect spot for sherrill
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Ah
Good call
delicious_dimes - September 26, 2011
Good to see him settle down..
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
That was the quick inning that RD needed
JCal - September 26, 2011
GET SOME F-ING RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
Alright RD
Fredi better not pull him after 82 pitches
BravesDawg16 - September 26, 2011
ummm i think he should actually
SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
You know he’s gonna.
Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011
I think we should PH. His spot is due and they've adjusted
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
this
Aaron Meier - September 26, 2011
it’s gonna happen.
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
He should pull him
Especially w/ Christhian in the ’pen
Sky Hawk - September 26, 2011
Randall Delgado fields a comebacker off the bat of Tallahassee for the final out.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011

GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
Runz please
Probably Lee’s last inning of the regular season. Don’t make it good for him.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
RD is done. Let's get him a chance at the win here
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
We can get him a WIN if we score some RUNS here.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
I like how you all caps'd the words we don't understand
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
;-)
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
Yep, that’s it for Randall. Come on runs people.
delicious_dimes - September 26, 2011
For all my fellow football fans
Faith Hill > Charlie Daniels Jr.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Agreed.
That starting already or in 15?
delicious_dimes - September 26, 2011
Just started.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011

justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-MEN!!!!
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
wow.....
Hank Williams Jr
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Oh my…that’s what I get for doing 5 things at once.
That’s worse than “There’s” from earlier.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
Georgie will PH
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
No JeyHey? WTF Freddi?
JCal - September 26, 2011
He doesn’t believe in lefty-lefty matchups
Sky Hawk - September 26, 2011
Constanza is LHB. Ross should have been the guy there but I can’t remember the last time he PH’d.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
If McCann gets hurt, who plays C?
This is the same reason why you never see an OFer PH or an IF – because if the starter gets hurt, then nobody else can fill in there.
It’s against the rules of baseball.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
That Bosco kid (or something like that) I think plays a little catcher
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Didn't they call up Boscan for just this very reason?
UMDBHIK - September 26, 2011
Fredi does not understand your logic.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
I don’t totally mind that. Save J-Hey for an impact PH hopefully against a righty.
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
Impact PH? Bottom of the 9th, down 1, bases loaded? GIDP?
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Jason Heyward is trending in the right direction, you can’t assume that
GumpBrave - September 26, 2011
He has one of the lowest GDP rates on the team
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
Delgado is done for the night.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Screw you Bucknor
biggjoe404 - September 26, 2011
Lee is coasting now
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
Lee feeling his oats and the possibility of a win now...
…ugh.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011
Pujols with a double
Runners on 2nd and 3rd. Two out.
nypeach83 - September 26, 2011
well so much for the 75 pitch count
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
Amazingly, Constanza still almost beat that out.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Cardinals have 2nd and 3rd with 2 out
Holliday up
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Damn you Polanco just fall down!!!!
SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
Nice 1 pitch out. Apparently we want Lee to go 7
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
I’ll bet he goes 7
NCChopper - September 26, 2011

thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
…….with a pitch count of 120. Yep. Charlie would do that to us.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
“Well, shoo, I was just tryin’ to maintain the integgirty of the game!”
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011

NCChopper - September 26, 2011

With good reason
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
what is there to get loud about
we’ve done nothing since the 2nd inning
leedawg - September 26, 2011

wpf3211 - September 26, 2011

TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011

SuperHeyward - September 26, 2011
Hmm… Fredi
delicious_dimes - September 26, 2011
Sherrill coming in (I assume). Correct decision!
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
In AL WC news...
Baltimore is now tied 2-2 with Boston, still batting in the bottom of the 5th. Rays have taken a 4-2 lead over the Yankees, also in the bottom of the fifth. Tonight could be veeery interesting if those scores hold up.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
Very interesting since I’m not sure how ties get scored at the end of the season
B4TheFlop - September 26, 2011
Aye, misspoke there.
But even if Boston wins, if the rays also win to keep pace…
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
Predictable.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - September 26, 2011
And he immediately pulls Martinez.....
Fredi confuses me.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Have to get a K. Sherrill has a ridiculous K rate against LHB. This is exactly the right decision.
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
No, the confusing part was bringing Martinez in to begin with.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011

Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Meh. Sherrill is perfect right here. Need the K
pbrfan - September 26, 2011
wow EOF in the 6th?
leedawg - September 26, 2011
I don’t understand it at all.
If Fredi was willing to bring in a lefty to face Ibanez, why not just use a lefty to face Howard and Victorino too?
Ivan the Great - September 26, 2011
he was saving EOF for a high leverage situation
this definitely qualifies
LEastCoastBears - September 26, 2011
should have just used EOF in the 6th
and viz in the 7th against the bottom of their order
leedawg - September 26, 2011
Astros have 1st and 3rd with 0 out
But the pitcher is up
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
They will score at least 1. Guaranteed
wpf3211 - September 26, 2011
WTF?
EOF wtf?
Ok, someone in the dugout please replace the batteries in the Fredibot. It’s making even more random decisions than usual.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
Has Sherrill pitched since being activated?
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
since he was activated today
No he hasn’t.
drumzalicious - September 26, 2011 via mobile
Exactly why I wouldn’t have used him there. Definitely to start the inning, but not with the guy on third…
Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
C-Mart coming in was really a head-scratcher
WTF goes through Fredi’s mind, I don’t know
biggjoe404 - September 26, 2011
EOF
Before the 7th??? I’m in shock
drumzalicious - September 26, 2011 via mobile

EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
Fredi is in full overmanage mode
Like Bobby in the playoffs
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Wow. That could be ballgame right there.
UMDBHIK - September 26, 2011
dont say that
supposedly the phillies bullpen has sucked of late and we should be able to get some runs off them
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
Season!
J Tadpole - September 26, 2011
Astros scored.
Yee
TheMelkHasSpoiled - September 26, 2011

That was a little bit too excited in hindsight. Forgive me.
delicious_dimes - September 26, 2011
Yes, one exclamation point would have been fine.

TheMelkHasSpoiled - September 26, 2011
EOF
will end the season with an ERA around 1.00, and with a 2-4 record. WTF?
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
Joe Morgan’s head explodes.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2011
the joys of being a reliever
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
3-4 after he gets the win today.
TheMelkHasSpoiled - September 26, 2011
More of these posts.
Classic17 - September 26, 2011
I wouldn't say no...
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
Wins are an even more meaningless stat for relievers than they are for starters.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
I'm aware
I just find it kinda odd.
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011
Ok, you want a real explanation for the oddity?
EOF pitches in a lot of high leverage situations (think tie games, late innings), so when he does give up a run (the few times), the team falls behind. When you factor in that the offense has sucked almost all year, they rarely come back from late deficits, so….EOF gets hung with the loss.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
STL 1, HOU 1 - BOT 3
Wandy Rodriguez RBI sacrifice bunt. Runner on 2nd, 1 out.

Jtpdolphins2009 - September 26, 2011
Turner Field is really quiet
AmgineRmEht - September 26, 2011
Only time we cheer is when the astros do something.
: ( something is wrong.
TheMelkHasSpoiled - September 26, 2011
We need a spark, anything to get this team rollin
Grey Rider - September 26, 2011 via mobile
Stop giving up runs would help.
NCChopper - September 26, 2011

thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
756! 756!
mebravesfan - September 26, 2011

Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
time for another one
unreel20 - September 26, 2011
If I were the PA guy, I'd so provide it
"Attention Braves country. Ted Turner has just re-purchased the Braves, and is promising what he calls “flabergasting” sized playoff bonuses for everyone on the roster!"
thenightstallion - September 26, 2011
this bullpen looks like when we had players like
Tyler Yates
Manny Acosta
Blaine Boyer
etc
joshant - September 26, 2011
That’s hyperbolic.

Kudzu Kid - September 26, 2011
Freeman plays terrible defense.
Scoops don’t matter much at first base.
Also, he has no power.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - September 26, 2011
c'mon braves fans...seriously. make some noise.
walknbalk - September 26, 2011
