Pretty straight forward and simple here. We all know how poorly the Braves have played on this road trip and our offense on the road has been non-existant (for the most part) since the All-Star Break. Fortunately for us, we have 7-game home stand coming up, followed by (what should be) an easy-ish road series in New York before the first of our two huge series against the Phillies. Here are the standings in case you forgotten...
Vote away. Things have been bad for the Braves lately, and I'm interested to see what everyone thinks.

And for the record
I think we’ll take the division during the final series of the year.

Shit...
I really thought the Giants were further back. 1 game scares me. I picked win the wild card.
strider15 - September 8, 2010
you forget
that the Braves and Phillies hit a bit of a skid prior to this week
drumzalicious - September 8, 2010
I saw it on the sidebar
Apparently, someone tweeted on gondeee’s twitter:
That would be epic beyond proportions.

Nice...
Jman781 - September 8, 2010
I would probably need a new pair of trousers if that happened.
Scott Coleman - September 8, 2010
Are Francisco Cabrera and Sid Bream still on the 40-man??

you own something you refer to as "trousers"?
Mr. Sanchez - September 8, 2010
haha
Braves24 - September 8, 2010
a walk-off 2-run HR off Lidge on the final day to climb above the Phillies and win the NL East – I could go for that
ByrneSupremacy - September 8, 2010

i couldnt hande being down in the 9th with the playoffs on the line
15ks - September 8, 2010

drumzalicious - September 8, 2010
Lineup
Infante
Heyward
Prado
Lee
McCann
Diaz
Gonzalez
Melky
Lowe
Why not give Glaus a go?
Undocorkscrew - September 8, 2010
He’s so bad at defense it adds 1 or 2 extra outs a game.
mdhenshaw - September 8, 2010
Division
Look at all the Negative Nancy’s out there. The team is struggling awfully bad, but you don’t go from swapping best record in the NL with the Pads all season to out of the playoffs.
Pavy848 - September 8, 2010
Meh, people were asked to be honest....
….and there is a good chance they miss out on the playoffs.
Undocorkscrew - September 8, 2010
And as of today that chance is 15.9%.
tcstew - September 8, 2010
a week ago it was 5 % FYI
Swo12bv - September 9, 2010
Btw....
Ankiel is hitting .625 with a HR in 8 AB’s against Duke.
McLouth is hitting .750 in with a HR in 4 AB’s against Duke.
Diaz is hitting .429 in 14 AB’s against Duke.
Melky is 0-3 against him.
McCann is hitting .375 with a HR in 8 AB’s
Lee is hitting .283 with a HR. in 46 AB’s
Prado is hitting .500 with a HR in 12 AB’s
Most small sample sizes, but hopefully they don’t have any problem with him tonight.
Undocorkscrew - September 8, 2010
I call.......
Bobby gets ejected in the 6th inning during tonights game arguing balls and strikes.
This fires up the team and we beat Pitt 10-6. This begins us winning 90% of our remaining games and taking the division.
D-Lee will have 25 home runs the rest of the season.
Ankiel will only strike out 85 times out of his remaining 104 at bats.
Infante will win the batting title batting .800 during September.
Heyward will hit a double off of the right field wall in Philly which causes the stadium to implode on itself, forcing Philly to play road games the rest of the way.
The Braves sweep the Phillies with key pitching performances by Kawakami and Farnsworth, giving the rest of the staff the rest they need going into the playoffs…..except Venters….he still pitches every day.
BTW, I picked them to win the division. Go Braves!
dragonhawk26 - September 8, 2010
Prediction...
I believe we’ll at least make the playoffs; however, we’re just too bad defensively, and on the road to mount much of a challenge in a series.
mdhenshaw - September 8, 2010
Atlanta to win the division
Then… The World series. Afterwhich Heyward wins ROY, Huddy wins Cy Yound, Infante wins batting title, and Prado wins MVP… After a quick stop at IHOP for neverending pancakes, this team will then retire to their lab where they will develop cures for cancer, poverty, and negative thinking
HansonManCrush - September 8, 2010 via mobile
You forgot about the four perfect games tossed in the World Series.
mdhenshaw - September 8, 2010
Well...
I figured Lowe will give up one hit
HansonManCrush - September 8, 2010 via mobile
You forgot that Hudson pitches every game.

how the hell did the baby get stuck in the elevator…it should be in a uterus

Rec'd...
For pure unadulterated literal interpretations.
XBEARDX - September 9, 2010
Infante's batting title...
has gone the way of Carlos Gonzalez, unfortunately. Already enough AB to qualify, and he’s now up to .340. 31-for-59 since the Braves came to Coors…absolutely unreal, and they have 14 of 24 of their remaining games at home. He’s leading in RBIs now, and just 3 HR back. He’s got a legit shot at the triple crown.
Do not count out the Rockies just yet, either.
That said, the Braves still win the East.
-C
cthabeerman - September 8, 2010
this
Braves win the East, but Carlos is having an amazing year
Braves24 - September 8, 2010
Then to celebrate
The team will travel to Japan to help Godzilla kill Gamera…
HansonManCrush - September 8, 2010 via mobile
This is really hard to predict right now. I felt pretty good about the Braves’ chances prior to this road trip, but it seems like Chipper (and Medlen) going down is finally starting to catch up with the team. I guess I’ll push and vote Braves win the wild card. I’m a glass half empty kind of guy so hopefully I’m being too gloomy as usual and the Braves will win the division by a handful of games.

they’re gonna end up winning the division.

Win the division or bust!
I still believe in my Braves…
HEYJUDE - September 8, 2010
The Braves need to wake up
If they keep on their present track since the ASB they will not even make the wild card. Sorry, but this smells too much like last year.Even If they make the wild card they won’t get the pennant, they struggle against good pitching and they don’t seem to have the fire. The race is on and we’ve lost 2 of our best players, I’m sorry, I wished I were wrong but I don’t see it happening. They lost 2 out of 3 to the worst team in the NL. I’m not a fan of Bobby Cox, so I don’t see WIN here. I couldn’t see Tommy LaSorda or even Mike Sciocia losing with the talent on this team. I guess I’m just totally bummed out since the 1st of August. I totally believe that if Bobby gets on the coaches and players asses we’ll go all the way. I just remember the 1988 NLCS, the 7th game and Orozco or Orosco was pitching relief and failing, LaSorda went out to the mound and chewed his ass out, the Dodgers went on to win. I don’t see Bobby taking command like that. He needs to kick some ass sometimes IN THE MIDDLE of a game, not behind closed doors. As general Patton said," I don’t want these men to love me I want them to win for me" paraphrased of course. Bobby doesn’t want to do what it takes to win, simple as that. He is the commander and he needs to do whatever it takes to get the most out of this team and I have not seen that recently. So y’all go ahead and vilify me, but you should also refute what I’ve said too.
jimmontg - September 8, 2010
What happens to us for the post season rests on the shoulders of Derrick Lee
Bobby has come out and said how he hasn’t even thought about starting Freddie or Glaus. So with him showing his incredible loyalty to a player we need him to be the force that we need in the middle of the lineup otherwise its gonna be painful
drumzalicious - September 8, 2010
well
I really don’t think Freeman needs to start anyway unless Lee needs a day off as well as Glaus
Braves24 - September 8, 2010
that's my point
To hell with who’s the veteran, go with the best options you have and if it’s Lee then fine but if it’s Freeman , go with that. Do not say “this is my choice no matter what”. How are we going to win if the manager does that ! He has other choices!
jimmontg - September 8, 2010
Time to get back in 1st place
even if it is just a tie…given how poorly the Padres and the Reds are doing, winning NL East and having home field can do a long way toward us having a deep run this October.
Go Braves!
LEastCoastBears - September 9, 2010
2nd place might not be good enough!
I won’t bash Bobby because of his ablilty to get everyday good players to play great….but yes, he will baby vets and does have a “behind the door” policy to air out his displeasure with a player rather than berate him in public. Was the 9-3 win tonight the result of a room full of people in his office gettting their collective areses handed to them….Who played better tonight compared to the previous week’s production…..hmmmmm there was Lee…uh Prado, Gonzo….oh yeah Lowe pitch…well good…very good.
I just hope this win like the early season’s last game of the series with the Brewers propell the into a run that will take them not only back into 1st in the east but all the way in the post season!
bravestatoo - September 9, 2010
You know on 1 hand not jumping a players ass in public is a good thing on the other I just think that’s not right. If Bobby had jumped Frenchy’s consistently I wonder if he might have turned out better. I just know it didn’t break my heart to get my ass chewed out in the Army. The whole enchilada’s on the line, it’s time to kick ass! This new idea of not messing with someone’s self esteem isn’t going to cut it. For 400 grand to 10 million bucks a year you can chew my ass out if I don’t do my job and too many Braves aren’t doing their’s right now
jimmontg - September 9, 2010
just because Bobby doesnt chew your ass out doesnt mean some else doesn’t…he has been going strong for over 20 years, I think we should trust his methods…that said I agree there needs to be someone telling people to get theri head out of their ass…I assume it is chipper or someone else on the team.
