In exactly one month, it'll be the final day of the regular season and the final regular season game of Bobby's career. As of this minute, we're 2.0 games ahead of Philadelphia in the East. Let's take a look at the remaining schedules for each team.

Star-divide

First Reactions:

1. Talking Chop is going to be very busy on September 20th, 21st, 22nd and even busier on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Seriously though, if things continue to play out as they have the last month, those two series are easily the two biggest the Braves have played since 2005.

2. The Phillies have the advantage of more home games. Philly will play 16 of their final 28 games at home, while the Braves will play 13 of their final 28 games at home. The Phillies have a ton of post-season experience, and you know Citzens Bank Bandbox is going to be rocking in September.3. The Central will play a role in who wins the East. The Braves will face the Pirates and Cardinals in the next week, and the Phillies will host the high-scoring Brewers this weekend in Philadelphia. The Brewers and Pirates are simply playing for pride at this point, and we can only hope the Brewers do us a favor in Philly. The Braves should have no problem with Pittsburgh, but you never know with a young team like they have. The struggling Cardinals could also pose a huge problem for the Braves. The offense isn't much, but their starting pitching is ridiculous.

3. The 9-game road trip in September is very worrying to me. You know the Mets would love to spoil the Braves' post-season chances, the Phillies series is huge, and the Nationals always play us tough in D.C. At the same time, the Phillies host the Nats, Braves and Mets during that stretch. That could be a bad week for us.

4. The off-day for both teams on September 30th is huge. With the off-day, it guarantees that both teams could pitch their ace in the final series, even if it is on short-rest. You can only imagine that the Phillies will have some combination of Halladay, Oswalt, Hamels and Blanton waiting for us, and I'm sure the Braves will counter with Tim Hudson and my_Hanson" class="sbn-auto-link">Tommy Hanson, with the addition of either Jurrjens, Lowe or Minor. I'm already excited for that series, and it's a month away.

5. The Braves have the biggest advantage of all in the final month: The final series of the year is at Turner Field. I fully expect sell out crowds for each game that weekend as we honor Bobby Cox. If you can make it, there's absolutely no reason for you not to be at The Ted for the final weekend. The weather should be beautiful, and the Braves could very well clinch their first division title since 2005.

According to http://espn.go.com/mlb/huntforoctober, both teams have 13 home games left.

I just checked the schedule on Yahoo..

Says they have 15 home games left (Phillies that is)

16

I just triple checked. It’s 16. They have a double header on Monday.

Swing and a miss… 16 for the Phils. Which, btw, is BULLSHIT. This is a team that got a free home series earlier this year, so they’re already playing 84 home games this year, AND they get to play the majority of their stretch games at home? It’s no wonder the media loves this team, clearly MLB is determined to make sure they make it to the postseason by hook or by crook.

I wouldn’t say the fix is in, but I agree that MLB completely mishandled the Philly/Toronto series.

Good piece here, thanks for the info and observations.

Uhhh... Interleague is unbalanced, yeah

Let’s compare interleague schedules:

BRAVES
==
@ Twins .578
vs Rays .619
vs Royals .418
@ White Sox .548
@ Tigers .496

PHILLIES
===
BOS .567
@BOS .567
@NYY .630
MIN .578
CLE .400
TOR .515

The Phillies had to play more interleague games than the Braves — with more difficult opponents, mind you. What did MLB do to balance this scheduling discrepency? Tossed the Braves 3 more games against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 33 games back, .336 win percentage Pittsburgh Pirates.

Quit whining about the Toronto series.

3 games at home against Toronto > 3 on the road against the Pirates

What are you implying?

You’d rather have a 3 game series with an over-.500 team than the worst team in the entire league?

We’re gonna have to disagree. A lot. I’d absolutely love to have 3 games in Pittsburgh rather than hosting Toronto.

I really don’t want those last three games to matter.

I don't either

but I can’t help but think it will.

Wildcard is fine with me. SF is uncomfortably close.

they are lurking

they kind of worry me

What?

We’re 4 games ahead of them in the WC standings.

This...

I ain’t scared. What are the tiebreakers?

Sounds like if we’ve both won the East and WC, then whoever won the season series would win the East and the loser wins the WC. If we’re tied in the East, but a team like the Giants win the Wild Card, then we have a 1-game playoff.

Does anyone know

When each round of the playoffs will be? I am going to be in Europe October 15-24 (yeah, I know, poor me), but what games would I potentially miss? NLCS? I am sure the games will be on, but probably at crazy hours…

Never been nervous for a Baseball game

and now I will be on pins and needles for the remainder of September. This final month stretch feels like more pressure than ever considering this is Bobby’s last run and the NL defending champs are breathing down our necks. Would you want it any other way? BRING IT ON!!!!!

And so it begins…The deep calm before the storm that is our stretch run. It’s a shame we don’t have the captin at the helm. Hunker down boys, this ones gonna be brutal. These fisherman sayings doing anything for anybody?

im nervous as hell...............

 i can picture Manuel, Riggleman and Rodriguez in a dark Nazi basement rubbing their hands and plotting against us…..

Our guys are going to have to man up, take some names and kick some f>@!ing ass!
I am fired up! Its gonna be a great run straight into the WS!

GO BRAVES!!!

Hike up your skirt and grab your balls and LET’S DO THIS!!!!!

Are we really pitching KK tonight?

Oh man that’s gonna be bad.

Agreed

But between him and Lowe I’d rather have Chido Caddahia

we need to score a bunch of runs early

He’s better than LOLowe at this point.

After watching the start of tonight's game, I don't see any improvement from earlier this year.

I’d still send Lowe out there ahead of KK, pretty much any day of the week. KK may have solid stats, but he just can’t seem to win. Maybe it’s mental at this point, but I sure find myself saying oh shit everytime I see he’s in the line up. That’s not good considering we’ve got about a month left to go and a 2 game lead. You need to have someone who inspires confidence in the team (and fans), to where they’re saying, “hey, we’re going to win this tonight.” Can you say you feel it when KK takes the mound?

MOAR GAME TREHADS 4 TEH BRAVEZ FANZ!

1, 2, 3, 5, 6? Hmmm, that’s not the way I learned to count! ;)

look at these guys smacking their lips..

I can hardly look at this…

I really think we could gain two or three games before we play, which would be great

Get Ready Boys and Girls

to have to catch the Phillies from behind. The Braves suck on the road and the Phillies have the advantage of a 6-1 road trip out west in front of a home loaded schedule for the next two weeks. I am sorry for being a negative nancy, but this team is putrid on the road and that’s where they are going to have to prove it from here on out. From my point of view, I really want to be hopeful, but I feel I am being realistic – someone talk me off the ledge and tell me why the Braves won’t be playing for the wild card the first week of Oct. I’m just not seeing it.

October 1st, 2nd, 3rd. CAN'T WAIT.
