For the rest of the season we'll keep a daily tally of the Atlanta Braves chances of making the post season, along with daily commentary. Also consider this a daily open thread for general chatting.
| NL East | W | L | PCT | GB | STRK | Magic Num | Playoff Odds |
| Braves | 78 | 56 | .586 | - | L1 | 27 | 96% |
| Phillies | 76 | 58 | .564 | 2 | W3 | 31 | 74.3% |
I guess if we lose once every six games I'll be fine with that. The Braves just seemed flat the whole game last night like they were waiting for the Mets to mess up and hand them the victory (when in fact it was the other way around). I would have liked one more hit by Melky so we could have seen Troy Glaus pinch hit. That would have incited many a angry on-line responses.
Unfortunately for us the Rockies bullpen absolutely collapsed and allowed the Phillies to come back. Then the Phillies bullpen almost collapsed and let the Rockies come back. This is almost too much excitement for early September.
Philadelphia heads home to face Milwaukee for three games, and the Braves head on the road to face the Fish in Miami. I'll be down there for the first time to see the Marlins "stadium." I think I'll just go to the Saturday night game, but I may hit up the Sunday game and get a Ricky Nolasco drawstring bag (unfortunate timing on that promo). On Saturday I can't pass up the JJ vs. JJ pitching match-up. In fact, this entire series we have the double consonant pitchers going for us -- tonight is KK, Saturday is JJ, and Sunday is MM (and then TH and TH).

So disheartened
this morning seeing as how the team LOST ground to Philly after a 7 game homestand vs. fish and muts and Philly out west vs. Pads, Dodgers, and Rox…. Ugh…
Oh well, you can’t complain about a 5-2 homestand… You really can’t… I just hate being able to taste that Philly garbage in my mouth when I wake up in the morning…
Headed to Florida to see the games… I’ll try my best to cheer the boys to victory!! GOOOO BRAVES!!!

Gotta love the MLB website headline this morning...
“Rallying Phillies Show Braves How It’s Done”
Yeah, because we’ve never come from behind, Mr. MLB Headline Writer…..

Wow...
Philly wins a game and the Braves lose and suddenly its like the Braves don;t know how to play baseball… Why does the media have a hard-on for Philly? I live in Philly and the team and city both suck…
HansonManCrush - September 3, 2010
Yeah...
Count me as impressed that Philly was able to destroy the Rockies 12-11…Give me a break. Let me ask the Phillies how to beat the Astros…Oh wait…

So hey you guys,
We’ve got a bit of a hill to climb here, but we’ll still see you at the WS. Count on it.

Huh?...
So I’m the only one that thinks of Sloth when they hear/read, “Hey you guys”
Mr. Sanchez - September 3, 2010
No, I do too. +1

Tough Haul
I still think holding off the Phillies is going to be really tough if the Braves don’t stop beating themselves in the games they actually lose.
Not sure if the Phillies are amazingly inconsistent or just now starting to get it all together with Howard getting his swing back and the lineup being back to 100%. I know it’s technically the Braves division to lose, but the Phillies made a statement on their 6-1 west coast trip; I don’t get how they pulled that off coming off the sweep at home. The Braves need a winning road trip here.
Disclaimer: My mood swings enormously from 3 games to 2; Don’t know why but I go to near panic mode at 2 games.

agreed...
With a three game lead I can sleep soundly and get my work done… With a two game lead I can feel the cold sweats and clumps of hair are randomly falling out of my head…
HansonManCrush - September 3, 2010
That’s because the last three games are against the Fillies. If we have a three game lead they’ll have to sweep us at the Ted to even get to a tie breaker.
blwfish - September 3, 2010
How do you feel about a 4 game lead?
That is our lead in the Wild Card…I don’t care about the NL East as much as making the playoffs…
Don’t get me wrong. I want to (a) beat the Phils and (b) get home field throughout the playoffs, but I would not be bummed by only snagging the WC.
Jman781 - September 3, 2010
You do realize,...
if we win the series in Miami this weekend, we will still be leading the division Monday? Just keep winning series and we’re fine.
Mr. Sanchez - September 3, 2010
That would be ideal.
CharlotteChop - September 3, 2010
Correct, Sir.
For that scenario would include two series wins over the Phillies.

Dear UGA football team: STOP GETTING ARRESTED!!!!!!!
