Jason Heyward had four hits and four RBI for the second time since August 22. He ended up going 4-5 with a home run (16), and his one out was an absolute bullet to center field. The Braves had 14 hits altogether, with all of the top five hitters having at least two hits a piece.
The Braves scored five runs in the first two innings and were in control for almost the entire game. It was tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the third and was five three heading to the bottom of the sixth. Jair Jurrjens did not pitch well, walking six batters, six hits, and three runs over 5.2 innings pitched. Eric O'Flaherty bailed him out of a jam in the sixth or else his run total would have been a lot worse. Kyle Farnsworth and Billy Wagner pitched scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth respectively.
Oliver Perez made an appearance and promptly gave up a home run to Brian McCann (19). Perez's presence on that team is comical, as is the fact that he has 39 walks in 44 innings. Pat Misch lasted just three innings and Manny Acosta got lit up for three runs in his only inning of work.
This was pretty much a dominant game all around for the Braves, but you would like to see Jair pitching a bit better. His strikeout pitch was working as he punched out eight, but he has pitched poorly with leads in his past two starts. Up next is Mike Minor against Jon Niese tomorrow at 7:10 pm EST.
P.S. Francoeur ended the game with an absolutely atrocious swing.

but Coors Field is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the MLB. The way they’ve done it is very classy and conducive to the view…. but the fences are a BIIIIIIIIIIT short, i agree….

It's bigger than most parks...
The air is just thin. Ball travels 9% farther there due to lack of air resistance. Problem is the fence is just 3-4% farther back (compared to Turner, which is big). They do have a short porch in R/CF, just 375 to the gap.

I’m all for Shadenfreude, but this is a bit ridiculous, fellas.
We watch the scoreboards, too, don’t get me wrong, but the comments are usually limited to:
“HA! [insert Brave’s pitcher who happened to lose] got blown up. LOLBraves.”
“F the Braves.”
“Suck it, Larry.”
…and then we go about our business.
Not hating, just saying that there far too many comments spent fantasizing about (the possibility of) beating us.
Chest thumping’s fine. Shared joy and fandom for your favorite team is fine. Just be careful not to tempt the baseball gods or count your trophies before they’re engraved, because right now Talking Chop is reading like the lady doth protest too much, me thinks.

The only thing that bothered me was someone throwing a coke bottle at Frenchy. I’m not a Francoeur fan. I did not like him as a player and I still don’t. But whoever threw a coke bottle at him last night is pretty classless. That’s not how Braves Fans act. I hope they found the guy and put him in jail for the night.
