Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll

If it's Monday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. As always, this poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

Still a 10

We just keep on winning series. Minor K’s 12. Omar hits 2HR. The bench and minor leagues just keep on producing. We haven’t missed a beat with Chipper going down. What does that say about the team? It says 10 to me!

Agreed—but don’t forget J-Hey hit 2 also! I went up from a 9 to a 10 with these last few great games.

I didn’t forget Heyward. I was pointing out the organizational depth. It just seems that whenever someone goes down, we have someone to take his place without suffering a downgrade at that position.

BTW, my pre-season prediction for Heyward was a .270 BA, 18-20 HR and 80-90 RBI. He is right on target for those numbers and has figured into my ratings as such. I have also been singing the priases of Minor since he was drafted. I was familiar with him from his Vandy days here in Nashville. He looks like the steal of the 2009 draft right about now.

Exactly

Why I put 10.

First time the Braves have won six series in a row since 2006. And, this is after losing Chipper Jones.

Back to an 8...

with getting D. Lee and the performance of Mike Minor and the overall “team” effort has made me feel really good about our chances. Let’s keep it going this week! Go Braves!

I’m back up to the 9th. I was worried that Brooks or Infante were the responses to Chipper going down. Now that Lee is in the fold, my confidence is back up.

Up to 9 for the first time ever. Adding Lee in response to the power outage, the emergence of Minor in response to Medlin going down, the continued awesomeness of Omar and pretty much the entire pitching staff, the return of Martin, and the very good performances from 2010 draft picks and prospects at all levels of the MiL system are all major factors.

8

I’m still suspicious about the offense, but hey it’s working. I hope we have seen the last of Glaus and Kawakami in Atlanta uniforms although I expect they’ll be back on September 1.

Even if you are the most pessimistic SOB on Earth, who the hell is voting 1 and 2 on these polls?

Trolls

As well as Mets/Phillies fans that have signed up to read about their rivals.

What I don't get...

Is how voting low in this poll is supposed to accomplish anything. Who actually thinks, “Ha Ha Ha! I will vote a 1 on the Braves confidence poll to screw over those fans. They will see the 1 and give up being Braves fans. Ha Ha Ha!”? Have you ever been emotionally affected by a slightly lower confidence rating? Would you think less of the team if the confidence rating plummeted to 50%? Nope.

I understand the mild enjoyment of poking opposing fans by posting inflammatory irrational statements that send some into a tizzy. I do not agree with the practice, but I can at least understand the childish motive behind trolling. That said, I simply cannot understand the rationale behind trying to skew a poll like the one above…It baffles the mind.

And FWIW

They can vote that way and it has a fairly minimal skew on the voting.

The statistics are easy enough to figure, but in fairness of not giving out the exact percentages until the poll is finished, I’ll say that the trolls have caused the percentage to dip less than 1.5% currently.

First time all season that I've moved away from my 7. Keep it going Bravos!
8+

even with the explosion j-hey had yesterday, i still want him in the 3rd slot… im keeping my 8 until i see 4 or 5 games over the phucks…..

Staying at 9

Until we start dominating more like Sunday’s 16-5 burst.

The come-from-behind-in-the-last-at-bat wins are thrilling but not comforting.

8

I will bump it to 9 once we make the playoffs, and I will bump it to 10 when we win the World Series.

As a quick aside, that hit by Derrek Lee was huge. Yes, Omar, J-Hey, and Minor shone brightly in yesterday’s game, but Lee needed to get a big hit before leaving Chicago. Now, he can just relax and help take down the Rockies.

Go Braves!

Find would... and knock on it

SO HARD

I wish he wood.

pelican

Is it a wooden pelican?

7

Very optimistic about the team’s performance, but very apprehensive about how injuries and the attitude of ownership will portend for the future.

Prediction:

We win the World Series, then Liberty Media slashes the budget and has a fire sale. Suddenly, we’re the Marlins.

Good ol' 8.

I’ve been sticking with my 8 pretty much all year, and I plan on doing so until we clinch a playoff spot. Trading for Derrek Lee makes up for the Ankiel/Farnsworth craptacular in my mind.

I agree with that. I was extremely disappointed with those moves, but Lee has eased my mind a little bit.

I still think there may be 1 more in the tank before this month ends…

1 more in the tank.

I knew that there was still a chance to land Zimmerman from the Nats.

Keep dreaming….but I doubt you’re seriously expecting that, anyway.

You really think there’s going to be another trade in the next week? I highly doubt it.

I’ve been voting 9 most of the season, but this is my first 10 in a while. The Braves only have 10 more games against non-division opponents the rest of the year, and I think this current team is well-equipped to stave off the Phillies for a 12th NL East title.

12th?

Remember, the Braves weren’t in the NL East before the wild card era. I dunno whether it’s 12 or not, but that seems to be the likely reason for a discrepancy.

-C

tah dah! 9

My first 9! It looks like there will be no learning curve for the Vandy grad Minor! uhhhhh can you say 12 strikeouts?….with the exception of a few bad pitches (that did not seem to raddle him) His third time was truley Charm!

Would be a 10

if the Braves weren’t allergic to brooms for some reason. The Phils and Pads matching us game for game is just a tad disheartening. as well as we’re playing

Not as disheartening as it is for them! :)

Confidence in the Braves is a 9

Confidence in myself now a 3 after stupidly posting in the wrong forum.

I’d vote at least a 3.5….4 for confidence in you.

You’re far too generous. But thank you.

9

like always.

There’s only one thing that could make it 10.

Trade for Pujols?

Nah. Cash for Werth.

8

The Derrek Lee trade pushed me up to 8. If he produces and makes our offense more consistent, then I will move it up to 9.

7

Its worked so far.

From a Phillies fan's 7.85

Now this is just my prospective but, I’ve been verry impressed with the way the Braves have managed the roster over the last few years in getting the pitching rotation that is good enough to win not only in the regular season but, the playoffs aswell add in a closer that may not be top tier but damn close they have a chance to win every game. I do question not going out and getting a big time bat before the trade deadline someone like a Prince Fielder from a team that isn’t in the hunt and looking to build for the future,

When you look at the formula for winning in the postseason it’s 1 top tier pitcher Ex. Sabathia, Cliff Lee someone along those lines and 2 more realy good pitchers who on any given day can go out and give you 7 shutout innings (and this is the part that scares me most about facing the Braves in post season) Hanson and Jurrjens fit that mold. Add in a closer who is 30 for 37 maybe not the definition of lights out but definitely a top 5 guy in the NL.

I’m not a believer in the Padres or the Reds I don’t know why they just don’t seem like they have the grit to perform under perssure and win a game when it counts. That being said this last week I’ve watched Braves win 2 or 3 games in the 8th or 9th and once again as a Phillies fan I don’t like watching a team build that type of confidence late in the season. The road the the WS is going to be going through the EAST and as a long time Baseball fan I rember the years when it was almost a given that ATL was going to win the division and, to not only watch but, be in the tick of a pennant race this late in the season is somthing newer fans don’t realy appricate.

With that being said
Thank you Braves for making Baseball exciting every day from praying for rain every time Kendrick or, Blanton takes the mound, hopeing a .500 baseball team can throw a monkey wrench into the Braves win the division plans, to scoreboard watching before during and, after the game.

Postscript,
It was fun watching the Muts fall apart just after the trade deadline throwing away thier playoff hopes and best chance to build for the future.

Also please don’t be too burtal on my spelling I’m on a borrowed comp and, have no spell check.
