Rome 2, Asheville 7
J. Leonard 2-4, HR (3), RBI, .266 AVGJoe Leonard didn't appreciate me calling him out yesterday for slumping, and collected 2 hits, including a homer tonight. For the year in 100 at bats between Rome and Danville, he's hit .270 with a .785 OPS.
Danville 3, Bluefield 2, 11 innings
After Jakob Dalfonso walked and stole second, David Rohm signled him in to give the D-Braves the victory in the bottom of the 11th. Ryan Weber put up another great start, allowing just 1 earned run over 6 innings, while fanning 9. GCL Braves - Off
DSL Braves 0, DSL Rangers 2, Game 1
The Braves couldn't manage any support for Jesus Saldeno, rapping out just 4 hits. The 17 year old Saldeno has been great all year, but even better since the start of July, with a 1.38 ERA and a 0.65 WHIP in 26 innings, averaging 9.6 K/9.

Hope Thompson is figuring some stuff out
I loved the pick when we got him because it looked like we were buying low and he’s been so disappointing this far but hopefully he’s tapping his talent finally and can become a solid pitching prospect for us. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Concepcion Rodriguez?
So I happened to look at Concepcion Rodriguez’s MiLB.com player page today, and it lists him on the roster of the New England Fisher Cats (Toronto’s Eastern League affiliate). He’s played one game for them.
Anyone know how that happened??

He was released on the 24th of July. In 180 games with Mississippi he had a .250 average and a .632 OPS. He just couldn’t hit at the higher levels. It’s a shame because he has all the tools you could hope for.

I’ve always had problems sleeping at night. I like to stay up and howl at the moon.

Was he part of the group that got suspended for PED's?
I blame Ozzie Guillen.

Don't thnk so...
that was the 1B/OF/DH Gerry Rodriguez, along with Yoel Campusano and I think the other was Zazueta.
Mr. Sanchez - August 2, 2010
Nope. Nothing like that for Concho.

Long way from the guy he was when he was a potential piece in a trade for Jason Bay, huh?
While I’m asking questions about obscure minor leaguers, what ever happened to Layton Hiller? He got to Rome in ’09, then disappeared.

small correction
Huntsville is the Stars, not the Suns (Jacksonville). I had to check just to make sure the series was in Mississippi. Otherwise I’d be heading over to Joe Davis Stadium.

M-braves just finished a 5 game series in Huntsville yesterday. So I think he meant to say Stars not Suns. :-)
rbravesfan - August 2, 2010
Man, I was sure I put Stars.

Layton Hiller was released back in mid- June, according to BA.

If Prado goes on the DL...
I hope Prado will be able to play again soon but if he is going on the DL I would assume that they would call up Diory Hernandez or maybe Hicks. I wish they would call up Matt Young but he still isn’t on the 40 man roster. In fact Matt Young didn’t play yesterday. I hope the addition of Ramirez and Cabrera to the Gwinnett club will not cut Matt Young’s playing time. I think the ability to get on base, steal bases and score runs are valuable in any league and Matt Young has done that for Gwinnett this year.
