Another series, another series win. Ho-hum. This one was not without its dramas and frustrations, of course, but the end result is pretty par for the course as far as Braves home series. Games 1, 2, and 4 saw great pitching duels that ended up being decided by 1 run, and game 3 was a very satisfying blowout.
All four Braves starters pitched very well, and as a team the Braves held the Dodgers to only 6 runs in 4 games. Even more impressive, only 1 of those 6 runs scored on a hit (2 scored on an error, 2 on double plays, and 1 on a sac fly). Our pitchers gave up only 7 walks (1 intentional) in the series and only 4 extra-base hits (all doubles). The Dodgers had no hits with runners in scoring position in the series, either. It was just a dominant pitching performance by the Braves' staff. Great job, boys.
The hitting was more uneven, but it was enough to win 3 of the 4 games, and it did feature several clutch hits, notably Brooks Conrad's homer in game 1 and Melky Cabrera's walkoff hit in game 4. With Martin Prado due back soon, hopefully the hitting will pick up a bit. The fielding was also hit-or-miss, but at least we had two nice outfield assists (by Cabrera and Rick Ankiel).

Great series win!
Taking 3 of 4 from the Dodgers is huge for us. 2.5 game lead over the Phils and we are going into a HOME series against the Nats, while the Phils take on the Giants….I love the pitching match ups in both series, Braves>Nats. Giants>Phils (Halladay not pitching in this series). Hopefully we can take advantage and gain a few more games in the division!

I agree with you
except for the Giants>Phillies comparison. Yes, it is true that I hate those turds beyond anything else, but I gotta think that with Utley back, they are probably better than San Francisco.

The Phils who played them before us can’t say THAT now can they? :-)
Taking 3 of 4 was beyond great.

That’s even more of a reason to believe the Philies will struggle against the Giants.

I hope they get swept in blow out fashion each game!

I hope they never win another game....ever

Fantastic Series
I had to give it to Melky. He played in three games. Unlike Huddy.
Plus hes the MVP
oh and i guess he had some walkoff hit or something to win some game sometime

So
if someone could please summarize for me: What’s up with all of the Aramis Ramirez hate?
frozendesert - August 17, 2010
I have no idea.
I don’t get it either.
Jacob Peterson - August 17, 2010
From what I can figure out, they hate him because he is an above average 3B who will make less than what our former above-average 3B makes.

I’m glad we were able to pay them back for blowing the getaway game at Philly.
VivaLosBravos - August 17, 2010
seriously
I’m just pissed we didn’t sweep ’em.
But that’s how it goes. 1 run one day, 13 the next. lol
Chief Noc-A-Homa - August 17, 2010
Gotta keep it going
