After performing poorly as a starter earlier in the year, lefty Richard Sullivan has been a revelation out of the bullpen.

This just in: Freddie Freeman is good. In his last 7 games he's gone 14-29 with 5 doubles and 9 RBI. Brandon Hicks must have taken exception to me calling out his strikeout rate yesterday, as he managed not only to not strike out tonight, but also to club out 3 singles.
Mississippi 2, Birmingham 3
Tyler Pastornicky had a perfect night, with a single, 2 walks, and a sacrifice bunt, adding a stolen base for good measure. Mauro Gomez took over the league lead in doubles, breaking a tie with teammate Wille Cabrera, clubbing out his 36th 2-bagger of the year. Jacob Thompson put up a quality start and he's really turned things around, with a 1.96 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP in 44.1 innings since the start up July after having a 6.68 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP in 67.1 innings before that. Richard Sullivan is on a roll as well, thriving in relief, with another 3 perfect innings tonight. He hasn't allowed a run in 4 August appearances, totaling 10 innings.
Myrtle Beach 5, Frederick 3
JJ Hoover takes over the organizational lead with his 10th win, fanning 8 over 6 innings. For the year the big righty has been solid, but he's gotten better with the heat of summer, with a 2.39 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP in 52.2 post All-Star break innings. Cody Johnson was good in his return to High A, with a double, 2 walks, and, of course, a strike out. Myke Jones hit his third homer in 2 days, extending his hitting streak to 5 games.
Rome - Off
Danville 9, Bristol 5
Barrett Kleinknecht rapped out 3 hits, continuing the tear he's been on in August, with a .349 average and a .889 OPS in 43 at bats this month. Joey Terdoslavich has enjoyed August as well, with a .412 average and .944 OPS in 34 at bats. After hitting .286 with a .895 OPS in 08 as a 19 year old in the DSL, there was reason to be interested in Alberto Odreman's future. He was Ok last year, with a .251 average and .720 OPS in the GCL. He started this year in Rome, but was sent to Extended Spring Training after hitting just .111 in 27 at bats. He hasn't fared much better in limited playing time for Danville, with a .200 average and .627 OPS in 60 at bats. This is a good example about how infrequently a good showing in the DSL leads to success in the US.
GCL Braves - Postponed, Rain
DSL Braves 0, DSL Rangers 0, 14 innings
The Dominican Braves managed to get just 6 runners on base in 14 innings, including old man Ronald Luna reaching on a pair of singles. Jean Carlos Gil struck out 7 in 7 innings, and in 54.1 innings as a starter the 19 year old has a 1.66 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, and 9.3 K/9.

Joey Terdoslavich
I don’t usually pay a whole lot of attention to minor league players beyond glancing at the recaps here on TC. So I know that we have a plethora of stud arms. I know about Freddie Freeman and Willie Cabrera, and the other decent bats we have percolating up through the system.
The guy I’m keeping an eye on is Terdoslavich, whom I’ve taken to affectionately calling “J-Terd.” A switch-hitting third baseman (remind you of anyone?) taken in the sixth round in this year’s draft, I have a feeling that he could be our guy at the hot corner one day. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking.
Maybe I just like the idea of having a J-Hey, a J-Teh, and a J-Terd on the Atlanta roster all at the same time. };0)

He’s hit well recently, but wheres the power at (no homers)? Supposed to be a strong Terd…
I would like to see more walks also. He’s almost 22, and not showing much discipline against the short season young pitchers.

I haven’t had a chance to see Terdoslavich play yet, so I can’t comment too much, but they’re roughly the same size and weight, but Terdoslavich is actually younger at the same level, 21 until just after the season while Kreke was 22 all last season. Terdoslavich was a 6th rounder, while Kreke was picked in the 13th, which won’t mean much of anything in a year or so, but early on it just means Terdoslavich has a little more wiggle room to fail, organizationally speaking. Terdolavich is also hitting a little better than Kreke did last year, but his fielding is atrocious; 10 errors in 26 games at first base (which he’s actually played more than third). He is a switch hitter, while Kreke bats righty, but overall, yeah, there shouldn’t be huge expectations for either of them. I like Kreke’s ability to play around the diamond, which apparently Terdoslavich can do a little, so there’s no reason either couldn’t become something great, but neither has really established themself as a great prospect at this point.
