Braves Quote For The Day... The Swagger Is Back!

From Billy Wagner after last night's Braves comeback win:

"Any team that comes in here knows it," Wagner said. "They've watched ESPN. They've seen how we've come back. We've done it in a lot of different ways. We're a tough team to face when it's close at the end."

Some may call it the cockiness of old Braves teams, but there was a swagger about the Braves teams of the 90's and early 2000's. Other teams were afraid of Atlanta and what they could do night after night, and that fear is officially back. At least the Braves players are acting like it is, and that's a huge can of confidence to have in your corner every game.

THIS!
I don't think other teams fear the Braves.

But I don’t care. These last at bat wins are going to give me a heart attack. But I’ll have a smile on my face! Braves do have a swagger. I don’t need the other teams to fear us. (and they don’t…..yet!) Just need them to lose. (and they do!) Go Braves!!

I hope they don’t fear them. They might get a surprise that way.

It is major league baseball. Any given day or night … blah, blah.

Improvement

I think that the Braves are one big hitter away from being great. If they can manage to get a big OF bat before the trading deadline then I would be at 10 in confidence. Currently they are winning games because of their pitching and timely hitting. I like Gregor Blanco in CF and he should stay there. If Wren can put a package together that doesn’t cripple our prospects and get us a hitter I would be thrilled. Imagine an OF with 2 power bats… Reminds me of Ron Gant and David Justice. That would be sweet.

Blanco has been great. Not sure they will give him the CF reigns over trading for one, but he has been a key fill in. Props to Gregor.

I would love to see Kemp in center or left… Thats the one guy i want before the deadline passes! But i gotta say it, Blanco is puttin in work!!

Of course

As they say, momentum is only as good as the next day’s starting pitcher.

ESPN is not the best channel to see Braves highlights…,

Remember the last few seasons? Felt like we could never, ever, ever win a close game.

And this year it actually feels like we can’t lose those games

What a difference

Guys like Wags, Hinske, and Ross that are role players but leaders can take a team to the top, especially when teamed with such solid everyday team players. Over the course of a season teams are seperated on average by a run maybe two. Having leaders and winning attitudes are what helps teams make plays to win close games and come from behind late to win vs losing 21 one run games in a row. This team has winning attitudes and it shows by winning these come from behind games.

ESPN?

What has Wags been watching?!

The Mothership diligently crawls Braves scores during their Top 10 AL East Plays Of The Hour specials, and this has spread fear far and wide
+2

1 for the ESPN slam
1 for the DP show reference

He meant hypothetically...

The Reds are the team that ESPN has latched onto, with the Phils and Mets not being in 1st. And they simply choose to not mention the Braves, week after week, in hopes that they’ll cave, and then the Mets or Phils will be the “big story.”

It’s going to suck for all of them when the Braves Win It All.

IDEA!!

The TCers should start a national sports tv network showing mostly Braves games and talking about the Braves all the time!
that should do it

We used to have that until the AOL merger and Jamie Kellner.

I would like to know how to extend my subscription to your newsletter.

Rays

Have the same discrimination at Espn

The Rays aren't leading their division
They were at one point.
But.....not anymore......the Braves still are, and have been.
Awww.

Awww come one man! You’re make a petty argument and you know they are right up there. Stop it.

Not exactly sure what that means, and why you guys have bleeding hearts for the Rays...

but the last time I checked, they are in 3rd. The Braves are in 1st. We can keep going on aboot this for days, tho.

Every time I see your posts, I cringe.

Because they are a low budget team in a ridiculous division… they have had great success all year… they HAVE BEEN leading there division (up until two weeks ago) and they dont get the notoriety they should…. MUCH LIKE OUR FUCKIN BRAVES which was the original point.

I have some tongs to unclench those panties if you’d like.

Thanks

But this dude’s out of line and I cant stand him anymore.

Last-At-Bat Wins?

So I keep hearing on sports news sites that this our whatever’th “last-at-bat” win of the season, which makes sense to me if we’re talking about walk-offs, but how can anything be a last-at-bat win if it’s not a walkoff? I mean, they have to get the guy after you out to move the game on so we can get the save, right? Wouldn’t by definition any win that isn’t a walk-off not be a last-at-bat win? Or is it just a win where its either a walk-off, or we only had one more chance to try to score (like 2 outs or something) and it would’ve been our last at-bat had we not gotten a hit or whatever… anyone with better baseball knowledge wanna help me out?

It’s the team’s last time batting basically. So it would be either the bottom of the 8th or 9th in home games, and the top of 9th in away games (in 9-inning games). It just means that they take the lead in the inning that they last bat.

If you score the winning run the last time anybody on your team bats...

It’s a last at bat win.

lololol. Now I get it. : )

Loving the Swagger!
