It was an awesome complex-ball game, as the Braves made five errors, including three in one inning. Braves outfielder David Rohm also had seven RBIs on the day, doubling his season total.

Hahahahah! BMac is a legend.
Brian got asked by a LA report who he would want to play him in a movie:
“John C. Riley.”

Just brilliant

I want to see McCann on Brules Rules
Swinging at baseball pitches and missing? Stop swinging at balls that aren’t over the plate, stupid.
Don’t be a dummy, just swing at strikes.
-For your health.

Randall pitching! Yay!

also, the ASG starting lineups were announced. Marteeeeeeen is hitting 2nd, behind Hanley.
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
Sweet deal
eaheckman10 - July 12, 2010
i'll try to post in via iphone tonite
with some updates on how our AA players are doing at the Southern League ASG.
SidGlaus - July 12, 2010
Who does everyone have in the HRDerby tonight?
I have Miggy in my office pool, beating Hanley in the finals
eaheckman10 - July 12, 2010
Miggy is a solid choice.
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
i would take omar..if he was in it.. :-)
SidGlaus - July 12, 2010
Shameless homer. hahaha
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
lol.
I am so glad none of our players are in the Derby. Players have said that it’s messed up their swing.
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
i don't get it in a way...
because have u seen some of these guys in BP..its like HR derby without the billing.
SidGlaus - July 12, 2010
I believe Bobby Abreu was the first legit casualty of lost of power due to Derby. Then again, he did hit like 30 HRs during that particular Derby. I never heard of ppl losing it before that.
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
i mean i can see where it could..
you get in that mind set to hit nothing but a HR..and if you didn’t come out of that mind set..yeah it could..but most of these guys i would think are better than that.
SidGlaus - July 12, 2010
Yeah it’s becoming more psychological.
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
good point
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
I think studies have shown it really doesn’t, but that’s just what I’ve heard. I’ve never read the actual studies.
eaheckman10 - July 12, 2010
Let's Go Bravos
Prado in the 2 spot? Han Ram leading off? HOWARD in the 4 spot? Is this NL lineup questionable or is just me?
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
Not just you….MARTEEEEEN should be leading off.
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
this..there is a reason why he's the league best lead-off.
SidGlaus - July 12, 2010
He's not better than Hanley Ramirez
kbertling353 - July 12, 2010
HUSH YOU
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile

SuperNewb - July 12, 2010

MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile

Yeah no comment on that.
SuperNewb - July 12, 2010
Does anyone know if Chris Berman will be a commentator? I can only stand so “back back back back back back gone” so many times.
Chapel420 - July 12, 2010
I have a feeling this is NL year.
Our pitching is soooo much better than they have in the AL. That will be the difference maker. Plus, we will not have Hoffman closing it out for us. I wonder who will it be this year. Will it be Bell?
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
I suppose so. And I also think the NL has a good chance this year
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
AL is better IMO
kbertling353 - July 12, 2010
Ubaldo 2 IP, Josh Johnson 2 IP, Roy Halladay 2 IP, Rhodes IP, Bell IP, and Broxton IP. How can you beat that pitching lineup?
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
NO-HITTER
TonyAlmeyda - July 12, 2010
You forgot Huddy….;)
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
I’ve just looked at recent roster and it does not list Bell so sub him in for Hudson and have Huddy after Rhodes for an inning.
romone_braves91 - July 12, 2010
So how did our people do in the Futures game?
SuperNewb - July 12, 2010
Both pitched scoreless innings. Teheran was a little wild to start, walked two, but settled down and struck out Desmond Jennings. Minor had an easy inning, no strikeouts, no walks
eaheckman10 - July 12, 2010
Thanks
SuperNewb - July 12, 2010
Impressive he K’d Jennings. Jennings has very impressive plate discipline and is major league ready, just goes to show the potential of Teheran’s still fairly raw stuff.
bwellnjonesco - July 13, 2010
Screw the Home Run Derby...
I’m just pumped for the broadcast of the Taco Bell Celebrities and Legends All Star Softball Game…
Best part of the All Star break…
Too bad we already know what happens.

The best part of our national pastime is watching complete amateurs play it horribly.
TheLetter2 - July 12, 2010
Well… there are… you know… the Legends too… They’re not amateurs
SuperNewb - July 12, 2010
I said the best part is watching it being played horribly. I can go anywhere and see people playing it well. ;^)

UMDBHIK - July 12, 2010

GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
Todo, i have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…..
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
Having lived in Kansas, I can wholeheartedly endorse this statement. There are few things in life worse than living in Kansas.
UMDBHIK - July 12, 2010
Granted, my time in the state has been brief, but I was quite fond of it. But different strokes for different folks.
God, I sound like an old man.

Where in KS? I spent a year going to school in Manhattan.
UMDBHIK - July 13, 2010
FWIW, I enjoy watching the HR Derby and then the softball game. Agreed that Berman gets annoying by the second swing. Would it be worse to have Chip do it? Every single call would be “BELTED DEEP (insert side of field)! Caught by a kid right behind second!”
UMDBHIK - July 12, 2010
No, Bernan is worse
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
*Berman

The Germans experimented with this weapon in WW2. While extremely effective in neutralizing their enemies, they ultimately decided it was too shitty to deal with.
bwellnjonesco - July 13, 2010
Watching Sportscenter
“Plus see why HR Derby Balls travel farther than regular HRs”
Hmm, lemme guess- the ball isn’t being thrown at 90 mph? That may be too much of a stretch though
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
I think the segment that's refering to is already up on espn.com
I watched it for some reason….. it’s dumb
SuperNewb - July 12, 2010
Actually, hitting a ball going 90 mph and using a mirror perfect swing on a ball going 50 would result in the 90 MPH ball going farther
ATLandUNC - July 12, 2010
I know that, but its obviously easier when the ball is moving 30 mph less
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
Well that would lend itself to more homeruns, but the question was father homeruns.
ATLandUNC - July 12, 2010
My guess is the fact that ASD HR are generally thrown in the fat part of the plate without much movement. RL fastballs left in the middle of the plate are mistakes.

cool, welcome. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you want Ortiz. Although can I ask- why is he even here. I know he’s had 18 HRs, but he’s been worse than McLouth has been this year
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
No, Ortiz has really been good aside from April. hes batting third now and one of the most feared hitters in the AL again.
bestbostonsports - July 12, 2010
well then, excuse my ignorance. Glad to see he’s doing well

I don’t want to lose Minor.. we need a lefty starter in the system
BigG1392 - July 12, 2010

anyone still say no to a Corey Hart trade? :P

drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
Or Teheran. Or Delgado. Or Vizcaino. Or Freeman.
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
Ortegano might be the best option. to trade
drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
I love a little ortegano sprinkled over my spaghetti.
TheLetter2 - July 12, 2010
well
IMO, Delgado can be traded, we’ve got Minor and Teheran and Vizcaino. We can only have 5 starters and we already have Hanson and Medlen and JJ. That’s 6 starters already, so I think that one of either Delgado or JJ HOover can be traded
Jaymin Patel - July 12, 2010
even still
not for Hart. Plus they want MLB ready pitching and Minor is the closest aside from Ortegano.
Unless they take Kawakami which I doubt

or
Josh Hamilton who did even better than that!!!
drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
If we could actually trade for Josh Hamilton, it would be brilliant.
Bronn - July 12, 2010
we could
We would just have to give up a bit.
Bethancourt
Minor
etc
drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
If we could get him for Bethancourt and Minor, I’d do it right now. I imagine it’d take like Teheran, Delgado, Minor, Schafer, and Medlen, or some ridiculous package like that.

HEYJUDE - July 12, 2010
no, but general consensus is Minor would be the bait for Hart
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
Not necessarily
We have several other pitchers that could be used as trade bait also. We have to give up someone good to get someone good in return, that’s just the way it is.
HEYJUDE - July 12, 2010
I know, but it’d just be nice not to have to give up Minor, especially for someone I don’t think will continue his 1st half numbers

Jaymin Patel - July 12, 2010
Han Ram
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010

Jaymin Patel - July 12, 2010

Jaymin Patel - July 12, 2010
Forget that
Give me Jeter. He’s a WINNURRRR
eaheckman10 - July 12, 2010
If FLA were smart
They could have 2 of those 3
BigG1392 - July 12, 2010
ya i know
plus they’re in Miami, where its Latino nation, they could’ve kept both happy and that left side of infield would be best ever.
IMO, Hanley has a chance to be the best shortstop all time in terms of talent
Miguel will put up incredible numbers and will challenge AROD for the all time HR list
Jaymin Patel - July 12, 2010
no takers?
Jaymin Patel - July 12, 2010
cabrera...

TheLetter2 - July 12, 2010
Loved
that Griffey commercial
BigG1392 - July 12, 2010
/sheds a tear that they have to make a Chipper one soon
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
They won’t be making one for Chipper. Sorry, but he did not transcend the game the way Griffey Jr. did.
UMDBHIK - July 13, 2010
I love watching Junior hit homers.
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
yup, my favorite
Jaymin Patel - July 12, 2010
FTFY
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
I think i’m going to spend my whole day tomorrow watching videos of Junior…./tears
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
Yet again, FTFY
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
Hey, Chipper is a Junior too. Larry Wayne Jones Jr.
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
True. But when someone says Jr. the thought is Griffey.
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
I love Chipper and Griffey. Both are awesome
MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile
I think I’m going to spend my whole day tomorrow watching videos of Chipper drink sweet tea.
TheLetter2 - July 12, 2010
What about Mac???
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
I was just rhyming “sweet swing” with sweet tea. I’d never abandon Mac. I find Chipper ugly to the nth degree.
TheLetter2 - July 12, 2010
haha
GoBravesNY - July 12, 2010
Junior loves watching the backs of his eyelids.
I’m kidding! I tease Hall-of-Famers!
TheLetter2 - July 12, 2010
So how's that derby thing going?
SuperNewb - July 12, 2010

MBL1 - July 12, 2010 via mobile

craziness. He’s so overshadowed because he’s not in one of the bigger markets.
drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
hey everyone
i didnt get to see the futures game. how did our young hurler Julio T. do?
ChitownBravos - July 12, 2010
yea i missed it to
is it online somewhere?
drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
just looked it up
he walked 2 and k’d 1 in a scoreless inning.
Minor had 1 ground out and 2 fly outs in his one inning
drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
Didn't see it but I think someone said...
He struggled a bit with the first couple batters but settled down and pitched a scoreless inning.
Mike Minor apparently had a perfect inning for the US too.
SuperNewb - July 12, 2010
I watched the game.
Of the two, Minor was more impressive to me. JT, looked much better as the inning went on, and gained composure, as his nerves settled down. They both have great young talent. Minor having college experience under his belt, looked to be near MLB ready. JT is an exciting young kid, with lots of natural ability. They were both fun to watch!
HEYJUDE - July 12, 2010
awesome picture
of Teheran in today’s USA Today from the Future’s Game. Since we’re almost to MB…think I’ll take him a copy. :-)

SuperNewb - July 12, 2010
Heyward
interview
drumzalicious - July 12, 2010
Did anyone notice how Heyward said, “Thank You…Erin.” after this interview. I would expect this smoothness out of a much older person, but 20 year old Heyward conversing with Ms. Andrews like she is just a normal person, wow.
bwellnjonesco - July 13, 2010
It’s apparent his parents taught him well, and he listened. He is so level headed and mature for a 20 yr old. Good work Mom and Dad.
HEYJUDE - July 13, 2010
I meant smooth as in more flirtatious like him saying “Thank You…Baby”. The way he said Erin just gave me that vibe. I’m 24, well raised…I would of probably said “Thank You Ms. Andrews”. If I thought I had a chance with her though, I might of dropped the Erin in there.
He’s good, ladies beware…
bwellnjonesco - July 13, 2010
Shut up, Heyward. MOAR LINZEKUM!
I’m kidding. Please don’t kill me. I’m one of the good guys.
TheLetter2 - July 12, 2010
They just talked to some guy named Heyward. I hear he’s pretty good….
