Charlotte 9, Gwinnett 4
Gwinnett closes the 1st half out with a 5 game losing streak intact that has been the result of some pretty poor pitching performances. I am happy to see Nate McLouth getting some hits and hitting with a little power. If we can get get a healthy Nate and Jason Heyward back to start the second half that would be the equivalent of pulling off a blockbuster trade without having to give anything up.

Myrtle Beach 2, Wilmington 3 - 10 Innings
Mycal Jones has been slumping a bit after his hot start posting a .486 OPS in July. He is walking more in Myrtle Beach and striking out just a little bit less to go along with less HR power (more a product of Coastal Field I would wager). Brett Oberholtzer made a nice transition back to the rotation after missing some time and then returning to bullpen action when Vizcaino and Teheran were promoted.
Charleston 3, Rome 4
David Hale's numbers as a starter:
27IP 49H 32R 14BB 15K 9.00 ERA 1.72 GO/AO
David Hale's numbers as a reliever:
27.2IP 22H 7R 9BB 30K 1.95 ERA 2.92 GO/AO
The kicker to all of this? He has appeared in 9 games at reliever and 7 as a starter. His relief appearances are generally of the long variety. Also if you remove his reliever appearance from May 29 where he went 3 innings and gave up 5 runs but actually started the second half of a game that was delayed till the next day, then his numbers look even more fantastic as a reliever! I really want to know what his deal is with the two positions. I he pitching out of the stretch when he relieves? Is it just a mental barrier? EXPLAIN!!!!
Pulaski 7, Danville 6
A couple of the regulars got days off for Danville today. Lucas La Point gave up just 2 runs in his first two games for the Braves but has allowed 12 in his last 2 (10.1 innings). He is just 19 years old and was solid in the GCL last year though he had some issues with control. This season he has ironed out the control issues while maintaining a solid K rate but he has given up 5 HR in the last two games. I don't know much about the kid, but outside of those HRs his peripherals look good and may indicate some future success.

Was it him or Melky that got that game-winner (or game-saver…) earlier in the season? I remember it was at the point in the season where it didn’t matter if it was him or Melky, I just assumed the out.

i don't know about ya'll, but i think terdoslavich needs a nickname
what would bobby call him if he was on the big league team right now? can’t go with the first syllable, so how about “slav”?
Bravely going forward - July 11, 2010
I would really like to know how his surname is pronounced
is it TER-duh-slo-vitch, ter-DOH-sla-vitch, ter-DAH-sla-vitch.. or is the third syllable pronounced “slay”, or possibly the last syllable pronounced “vick”. Anyone been to a Danville game and heard the PA guy say it?
J-Turn14 - July 11, 2010
I’d go with the second one.

I’m going to go with Slavy… gotta have the ‘y’ on the end
dkinser86 - July 11, 2010
yeah, that has a good ring to it

As for Hale...
…it is proably just small sample size issues. Usually, pitchers put up better numbers in relief, but that’s because they are going one inning at a time, while Hale is doing long relief work, so that shouldn’t help him.
