Gwinnett 2, Indianapolis 1

Barbaro Canizares hit a triple that Mitch Jones followed with a homer, plating all the runs the G-Braves needed to give Todd Remond his 5th win of the season. Redmond followed up his no-hit effort with another solid start, striking out a season high 10. In his last 2 starts he has a 0.56 ERA and a 0.50 WHIP. Former Brave Brandon Jones had a triple and a walk in 4 plate appearances for Indianapolis. For the season he's hitting just .217 with a .614 OPS. Sad stuff from a guy who many of us though should have been given a chance to be at least the left handed side of a left field platoon in Atlanta.

Mississippi 0, Montgomery 6

Well, the bullpen was good. Tommy Palica and Michael Broadway combined to strike out 7 over 2.2 innings. Richard Sullivan's defense let him down, but he was way too hitable, giving up 10 in 6.1 innings. It's not that surprising, since he's giving up 12 hits per 9 innings for the season. The offense mustered just 2 hits.

Myrtle Beach 2, Frederick 3

Samuel Sime continues to be a nice surprise, with 5 hits in his last 9 at bats. Still, just 4 of his 33 hits on the season have gone for extra bases. After getting knocked around in his first few High A starts, Brett Oberholtzer appears to have figured things out. In 19 innings in his last 3 starts, he has a 2.37 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP, which is so love because he hasn't walked anyone in thos games. In fact, between Rome and Myrtle Beach he's walked just 1.7 batters per 9 innings and has racked up 3.8 strikeouts per walk.

Rome 4, Augusta 2

Arodys Vizcaino hates walks. He hasn't walked a batter in his last 36.2 innings. That more than half the innings he's thrown this season. He's walking just 1.3 batter per 9 innings and is striking out 6.6 per walk. Oh, and he's only 19. All three M. Jones make their way onto the recap tonight, as Mycal hits his 4th homer of the season. I'm guessing a month ago he thought he'd never see a .250 average again. Gotta love that work ethic. Christian Bethancourt hits a double, but his OPS remains a lowly .595 OPS, mainly due to his Francoeurian inability to take a walk. Of course, he's only 18, so there's plenty of room to him to become more Heywardian.

DSL Braves 3, DSL Tigers 0

Given that all the DSL games were rained out yesterday, I'm guessing rain was the reason this one ended after just 5 innings. Either way, Abraham Espinosa pitched the complete game victory, a day before his 17th birthday. 20 year old Aris Alcantra, playing in the DSL for the third straight year, drove in Edward Salcedo, who reached on a walk, with a double.
