Braves Quote For The Day... Wags Wants To Go Out With Cox

From today's great USA Today article on Troy Glaus, Martin Prado, and of course, Bobby Cox. Here is a quote from Billy Wagner about Bobby (hat tip: M. Swingle):

"This is why I came here, to play for the man. I played enough times against him.

"So when he goes, I go, because it ain't gonna get better than this."

That's just pretty cool. I feel blessed to have lived in Atlanta and to have been able to watch so many Braves games over the past 20 years with Bobby at the helm.

this is why I think Chipper is going as well

Wagner’s right and Chipper knows it too. Sure, the braves will move on but Chipper has only known Bobby and him not being there and his slow year means that we need a 3rd baseman next year.

I envy any who has ever played for Bobby.
Albert Pujols says. "Everybody kept promoting the Phillies all spring, and I kept saying, ‘Watch out for Atlanta.’ "

I’ll tip my hat to you Mr. Pujols!

That was a great read Gondee!

Pujols knows all.

This is a sweet read

I love this team!

It’s a shame he can’t close for us next year, but this is awesome. Kinda cool that 3 Hall of Famers are retiring from the same team in the same year.

“I’ve seen some of the best hitters walking back to the dugout, like someone killed their dog,” Wagner says.

From the article talking about Venters.

I am going to be bummed...

Once Bobby and Chipper walk out of the park for the last time, the finest Braves Era ever (and ever will be) will finally come to a close…Wow…I am getting teary eyed just thinking of it!

No Bobby and Chipper is going to suck,

but I will enjoy watching Martin and Heyward just as much.

Hopefully, after we Win it all....

Bob and Bill come back for one final hoorah in 2011, after the club goes on a mad streak starting….now, and Bobby and Billy become equally rejuvenated and want one more year of the goodness. And Glaus comes back for another year at first. Fredi is brought on, in some capacity, in 2011 and is assured that he will, indeed, manage in 2012.

I just hope the whole team doesn't retire, too!

By Wagner’s logic, they probably should. After all, if you can’t do any better than playing for Bobby, why keep trying?
