Something has come up that I must attend to so this recap will be short and sweet. I apologize. Feel free to show off your writing skills and do your own Game Recap in the comments.
The Braves and Sox concluded their 3-game series in Chicago and a great pitchers dual lasted for 7 innings. Derek Lowe allowed a few baserunners, but came up huge when the situation required it. Lowe's biggest moment on the day came in the 6th when the White Sox had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs and then bases loaded with only one out. Lowe threw a nasty sinker to AJ "My Hair Sucks" Pierzynski and he promptly grounded into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.
Takashi Saito came into the game in the 8th. After allowing a leadoff single to Juan Pierre, he quickly recorded the next two outs. With 1st base open, Saito decided to pitch to Paul Konerko, who only has 18HRs on the season, instead of pitch around him. He threw a flat, 92mph fastball down the middle of the plate that Konerko sent 400 feet into the left field seats. The Sox led 2-0 heading into the 9th and Bobby Jenks made quick work of Prado, Heyward and Chipper to end the game.
The Good:
Derek Lowe. Oh, and the defense was pretty good. That's about it.
The Bad:
Everything else. The Braves looked lost and confused at the plate. Takashi Saito threw a ball that you or I could've hit. The umpire was consistently bad, as any pitch within 6 inches of the plate was a strike. Nothing went well during the series for the Braves.
Braves MVP: Derek Lowe
Braves LVPs: Saito and anyone who touched a bat on Thursday afternoon.
Sox MVPs: Gavin Floyd and Paul Konerko
Sox LVP: Hmmm....nobody.
Thankfully for the Braves, they return to Turner Field tomorrow night. This series in Chicago also ends road interleague games for the Braves, so we'll only be playing real baseball from now on. They face the struggling Detroit Tigers, but the Braves will be facing a lefty, so I don't think anyone should expect too many runs.
**If you're in the area tonight, be sure to check out the debut of SBN Atlanta, which Gondeee runs. HERE is more info on the event, where you can meet some of your creepy internet friends.**

TradeAndruw - June 24, 2010
We shoulda sacrificed a live chicken
F*ck…not the best way to start the road trip, boys.
DolphinNation - June 24, 2010
…or end it, either.
TonyAlmeyda - June 24, 2010
Road trip's over
Thank Jebus.
gramsey712 - June 24, 2010
That sucked.
gramsey712 - June 24, 2010
That game made the New Zealand – Paraguay look enthralling by comparison
El Soro - June 24, 2010
More good stuff from Amazin Avenue
I wish our rotation was stacked like the Mets rotation is. Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, R.A. Dickey, Hisanori Takahashi and Fernando Nieve is filthy. And what’s that? Jair Jurrjens comes back next week? PLEASE! Dude sucks. He wouldn’t even be the #5 starter on that great Mets team.
And i guess the NL’s #1 hitter doesn’t really carry a team. That Vazquez trade looks horrible, especially with Arodys Vizcaino becoming a top-50 prospect at the old age of 19. Oh, and Wagner sucks. I hate that guy. He’s been horrible this year.
Scott Coleman - June 24, 2010
So are we surprised that Met fans are idiots?
Or just using their idiocy to amuse ourselves?
Cause it IS amusing.
gramsey712 - June 24, 2010
I can’t say I’m surprised at that comment, but it definitely IS amusing.
TonyAlmeyda - June 24, 2010
Well, to be fair...
AA is actually mostly pretty level-headed folks. Every site has idiots like the one quoted above. I hate the Mets as much as anyone, but their fans in general sure beat Philly fans.
sddbaker - June 24, 2010
I agree. Mets fans > Phillies fans. To be honest, AA is a very good site. It’s no TC though, and I just couldn’t resist the urge to share some of their beliefs on the Braves.
Scott Coleman - June 24, 2010
Yeah...
I actually commented over there on that comment. Its stupidity is pretty overwhelming.
sddbaker - June 24, 2010
TC is def. better
but if they cherry picked some of the random shit people post here (myself included), we’d look dumb too.
VivaLosBravos - June 24, 2010
I agree
I looked in on AA tonight as I watched the Tigers beat them. For the most part their comments are rational. I actually made a comment at the end of the game, and they did not yell Troll or anything. I will admit my comment was not rude, but still, they are not that bad. They are not very nice when commenting on FYF, but I can understand their frustration over his at bats.
HEYJUDE - June 24, 2010
THIS
VivaLosBravos - June 24, 2010
OH and we're still in 1st place...
In the Wildcard race!!!!!
So, nobody kill themselves.
sddbaker - June 24, 2010
..
Scott Coleman - June 24, 2010
i concur
Bravely going forward - June 24, 2010
I wonder if they sell bungee cords at the Grand Canyon.
…
They don’t? Good, because I was thinking about taking a dive.
TonyAlmeyda - June 24, 2010
Hey...
are you guys giving ME the crying baby? Because that’s just wrong on so many levels.
sddbaker - June 24, 2010
No not you
I just admire your work with the baby posting on TC and thought I’d continue it!
Scott Coleman - June 24, 2010
this
and crying baby pictures are pretty hilarious
Bravely going forward - June 24, 2010
okey dokey...
I love babies. And cats. Even crying ones. Except when they post.
sddbaker - June 25, 2010
question for all you: after this horrendous performance in this series, do you think it's a mini slump or we're are going to be like april again?
please tell me it’s a mini slump!!
Kobe:The Legend - June 24, 2010
i'm usually not one of the most optimistic fans because
i’ve seen how the braves have consistently underachieved since the division run was over. However, we need to remember that we split, won, or swept 13 straight teams over a grueling stretch. Then we had to go to Chicago and deal with horrible weather and the hottest team in baseball thats playing WAY above their level. We’ll bounce back fine. These things happen.
I do wish JHey would return to form though, he’s becoming a consistent out in the 2 hole via bouncer to the 1B or K
ATLBRVS_19 - June 24, 2010
I think we were the hotest team in baseball before this series
taney71 - June 24, 2010
I’m worried about Jey Hey. I know we all expected a slump at some point, but I think I fooled myself into thinking it wouldn’t happen. He’s looked terrible lately, and frankly I didn’t think he’d slump this hard in the season. I expect him to turn it around, but the word “overrated” has crept in my head a scosh…
Brave Neander - June 24, 2010 via mobile
I think he needs to go back down to the 7-hole. Put Esco in the two hole for a while…
Prado
Escobar
Jones
McCann
Glaus
Hinske
Heyward
Cabrera
Pitcher
I like that lineup for some reason..
BigG1392 - June 24, 2010
or cabrera in the 2 hole..
either way is cooolio
MacsGlasses - June 24, 2010
Move him down, give him a rest...
Any of those options would do wonders.
Sam Jethroe - June 24, 2010
I agree
HEYJUDE - June 24, 2010
not a bad idea
VivaLosBravos - June 24, 2010
"overrated"? really?
Bravely going forward - June 24, 2010
Mets lost
First is still ours… despite our suckiness in Chicago
BigG1392 - June 24, 2010
Yes,
We are!
HEYJUDE - June 24, 2010
BEST NBA DRAFT EVER.
Kings got DeMarcus Cousins and Hassan Whiteside. BEAST MODE.
Scott Coleman - June 24, 2010
really pissed the Hawks took cash for Plesis...
instead of Whiteside or Alabi as the 7’er behind Horford.
Mr. Sanchez - June 25, 2010
Just keep Cousins...
on his medication.
