The entire state of Pennsylvania is sent reeling by the Atlanta Braves, after both the Pirates and the Phillies were swept away by the Chop. Don't they know that This is Braves Country?
Thanks! I plan on it. I was over in Brazil for 3 months last summer and TC kept me sane without any baseball coverage or anything on the tube. It was almost impossible to even find anything on the internet, weird site bans
I wouldn’t dismiss them, though their pitching staff is due for a regression. They could still take that division if Colorado doesn’t get healthy, though.
On second thought, Heysylvania sounds better. Although Heyward didn’t homer—his awesome presence is enough to merit a re-name of the entire New England area. (NewHeyward)
and if he switches spot with that guy, who both missed calls, no one even knows his name. Like you, the way Joyce has handled killed any anger I could have had at him. Imagine the reaction from the ump if it had been Hohn, or any of a number of other umps.
I couldn’t help but notice the picture of that outstanding wide reciever next to your post. You wouldn’t happen to also be one of those rare, talented, extremely good looking genius Braves/Steelers fans would you?
I absolutely love the sweep and the 8 game win streak. But I’d love to see us sweep the Phillies when they aren’t scuffling. That’s when they know they aren’t better than us.
its always best to beat a team when they are playing really well…
so to that i will agree…id love for the Phillies to get hot and they get spanked by the Braves, and maybe even have that spanking cause a spirally downfall
I don’t buy it. They couldn’t even score more than one run against Arizona in the last two games, and the last time it took them 14 innings to manage even that.
To what do you ascribe this? Is Arizona’s pitching really that good?
(I’m really asking, I don’t know how good their pitching is.)
Any team coming off a twenty win month is hot. The dbacks series was just the cherry on top. The same could be said about the braves. The run they are on has had some poor teams in it. Good teams beat bad teams.
Braves Can’t control what the other team did before they played them. We know what they’re capable of, yet the Braves kept them down. They could’ve easily broke out of it if the Braves weren’t on their A game. The Braves deserve credit for that.
That’s basically what he is. He’s quite absurd over there and plays it off as being angry about his team so he’s allowed. I was born and raised in NW PA and that is why PA is split in terms of the west not liking the east side of the state lol.
I’m not a member and not planning on joining. Have fun but remember, he doesn’t have room on his knuckles for you, or something similarly stupid to that.
I liked when he said i had “genteeel old south sensibilities” or something like that. And then he went on about how Arizona had bad laws and rules. Yeah, cause i made up the law, right?
Yeah I saw that too. He must have missed his nap earlier. For all I know, he was the kid who got tazed on the field in Philly. Besides, what Arizona does, is AZ priority. Not like PA is a haven lol.
That’s what I love about talking chop. We all know who we’re talking about but havnt called him out by name. Classy! I just observe over there. Got nothing to say to them. Just joined true blue. They seem civil and I look forward to some real baseball discussion( after a 24 hour wait). Glad you guys are here. Just read the replys under a yahoo recap to see what’s out there. Some real idiots. Some dude keeps posting that Bobby Cox hates Asians, night after night. Go braves!! Go braves fans!!
I wanted to comment on true blue tonight. Some guy had some Vegas numbers showing that the dodgers have a 60% chance of beating us in all four games. I don’t buy it.
I think they may have overlooked Melky a little bit. Which is understandable if they just look at his stats alone, but he’s been hitting real well lately. Other than that, they seem to have a good scouting report on us.
What a remarkable job after the 9 straight losses!
This team is for real, although we can still use another OF. We don’t even have JJ, but I love the “bulldog”, Kris Medlen. We caught the Phillies at the right time, and didn’t have to face Halladay….let’s keep it up on the current West Coast trip1
Jim Joyce joins Don Denkinger in imfamy! Feel sorry for him.
Wow! You guys crack me up. These 20 minutes or so every morning when I get to work and read TC make the whole day worth it. I’m hoping to start commenting soon when I can think of something clever that hasn’t already been played out by the time I get on here. Being new on here, I love what I read. It brings me back to 1991 when I would watch the bravos every night on TBS… late in the game and something good starts happening. OH yeah, crank up the organ cuz here comes the heart of the order… Bream, Gant, Justice! A slew of 40,000 or so doing the chop in unison. I tell ya, it sent a chill up this kid’s back watching it. Been a Braves fan for 20 years! Lets take it to the house and have the 1991 World Series played out all over again against this years outdoors and much improved Twins team. We can tweak the outcome a lil bit and let Bobby take it to the house a winner!
Also like the fact of winning in a variety of ways and players hustling
and stepping up. People get frustrated with BC’ patience yet
over the long run he’s proven to be correct.
sports also includes sportsmanship. maybe I’m old school but a cartoon
depicting a kid urinating on the state of PA is classless.
That’s nothing compared to some of the things that some of the members post on the Phillies blog. Nothing wrong with having a little fun and enjoying the winning streak. I see no harm in it.
Nothing is more impressive than Jason Heyward
acie4mvp - June 2, 2010
I am still laughing about that as an option.
Kudos to Gondee that was a really funny option.
Swo12bv - June 2, 2010
Chuck Norris is the only thing more impressive than Heyward
diviesti - June 3, 2010
How.. Could… You! Everybody get the pitchforks and torches!
Frozen Fan - June 3, 2010
hahaha
;)
diviesti - June 3, 2010
Heyward is the new Chuck Norris. Shoot, you can’t be awesome if you retire! It’s like officially declaring you’re “unawesome”.
Joseph_C - June 3, 2010
Pujols?
Heyward needs to do it for a few more years.

I demand the 10 votes for Heyward be withdrawn

Francoeur walking three times in a game?
I think you meant in a year. Does he get to ride to first base on a unicorn with a marshmellow horn?

llamasaurus
BullManUGA - June 2, 2010
Francoeur is NOT allowed to ride our llamasaurus!

We’re only half a game behind San Diego for the best record in the NL!
BigG1392 - June 2, 2010
San Diego has the best record in the NL, damn, what a surprise
Kobe:The Legend - June 2, 2010
Just wait a couple months.
Joseph_C - June 2, 2010
I wonder if Padres fans
are saying the same thing about us….
I wouldn’t dismiss them, though their pitching staff is due for a regression. They could still take that division if Colorado doesn’t get healthy, though.
Jacob Peterson - June 2, 2010
I agree. Since the final months last year the Dads have been playing well above .500 ball
FitzFan - June 3, 2010
There can’t be that many “Latos Intolerant” teams out there.
UMDBHIK - June 3, 2010
Pennsylvania, lol

Heyward??
NOTHING on this planet is better than heyward
saipol - June 2, 2010
The South has risen again. Hopefully when the Braves return from this upcoming roadtrip to LA & Arizona the story will be “How The West Was Won.”
adc62 - June 2, 2010
not sure how surprising it was to whip the Pirates like we did. Actually, it’s nice to see the Braves finally beating up on those sub-.500 teams!!
scorby911 - June 2, 2010
I move that we henceforth call the state Glausylvania.

MBL1 - June 3, 2010
wow!, Galarraga had a perfect game in the ninth with two outs
Cabrera fielded a ground ball Galarraga went to cover, it was a clearly out by one whole step, the ump fucked his perfect game and called safe!
Kobe:The Legend - June 2, 2010
Jim Joyce needs to kill himself...it wasn't even close

AuditDawg - June 2, 2010
god thats just terrible
Jim Joyce should be fired with Bill Hohn
Erihury - June 2, 2010
At least he admitted fault, unlike Hohn.
Pavy848 - June 3, 2010
That was a truly terrible call, but...
Jim Joyce is 100 times the umpire, and 1000 times the man, that Bill Hohn will ever be.
Sam Jethroe - June 3, 2010
+1000
Frozen Fan - June 3, 2010
The fact that he admitted fault and was visible upset actually made me feel kind of bad for Joyce. For the most part he’s a decent enough ump.
Smoltz's Beard - June 3, 2010
Compare it to the missed call in Seattle...
and if he switches spot with that guy, who both missed calls, no one even knows his name. Like you, the way Joyce has handled killed any anger I could have had at him. Imagine the reaction from the ump if it had been Hohn, or any of a number of other umps.
Mr. Sanchez - June 3, 2010
I hate Jim now….He apologized later after realizing he’d blown it, but that doesn’t change anything…
MBL1 - June 3, 2010
How do you possibly make that call???? You got to err the other way if anything
bpk228480 - June 2, 2010
reply fail
bpk228480 - June 2, 2010
Disgusting
Worst call I’ve ever seen in a baseball game, bar none. Add to that to perfecto being taken away from the kid, and it’s even worse.
DolphinNation - June 3, 2010
LOL
great picture gondeee
GoBravesNY - June 2, 2010
The Phila announcers could praise Heyward enough today.
Every time he came up they spoke about how many All-Star games he’ll end up playing in, and they got away with this pitch and that pitch.
I’ve never heard them speak so scared of an opponent, it was comical.
dawgs144 - June 2, 2010
could NOT praise....
dawgs144 - June 2, 2010
Hey dawgs 144...
I couldn’t help but notice the picture of that outstanding wide reciever next to your post. You wouldn’t happen to also be one of those rare, talented, extremely good looking genius Braves/Steelers fans would you?
Frozen Fan - June 3, 2010
Why yes I am.
Not too sure about the “extremely good looking” part, but I’ll take the rest! I would assume, that you would in that same club?
Let us not forget that outstanding wide receiver was also a Georgia Bulldog…..
dawgs144 - June 3, 2010
Yes I am. My college squad is UVA. Also well represented with Heath Miller and James Farrior as graduates. Go Braves! Go Steelers!
Frozen Fan - June 3, 2010
Lol
Can’t believe I said graduates. I meant student athle…. Er, former UVA athletes I mean.
Frozen Fan - June 3, 2010
Hey, good guys, both of them. Stand up people, and you were right the first time
they are both graduates. Health on-time, and James finished up his degree in the first or second off-season – the only positive from his Jets days…..
dawgs144 - June 3, 2010
Much to my Dallas Cowboy fan hubby’s chagrin, I’m a long time Steelers fan as well.
Hines sure looks fine in your Avatar.
NCChopper - June 3, 2010
That must be a fun house-hold during the season. How badly did you give him the business
from the Cowboys at Steelers game in 2008? 4th Q choke!!!!
Hines must have been signaling a 1st down….he seems to do that quite often!
dawgs144 - June 3, 2010
Braves now 10-5 against the Quaker State?
UMDBHIK - June 2, 2010
I think so. That one mechanic stole the change out of Chipper’s HMMWV though.

I saw your post over on True Blue (Dodger Blog)…I thought they did a good preview on the Braves as well heading into the series as well.
The only thing i wanted to correct was they had Hanson’s FB topping out at 91 MPH and said it was a full MPH lower than last year.
Ummmm yeah Hanson throws a 94-95 MPH fastball.
