Gwinnett 11, Durham 4
When the top four guys in your lineup get on base 15 times in one game you definitely better win. Gwinnett banged out 18 hits in the game with 6 doubles. Freddie Freeman snapped out of his mini slump and got just his second extra base hit of the month. Barbaro Canizares has also had a rough month and hopefully this game will help jumpstart several guys who have been having some issues.
Chattanooga 8, Mississippi 8 - 10 Innings
Another long game for Mississippi that I don't have the energy to stay awake for. Sorry. On a lighter note Willi Cabrera came back to lineup after being out for 9 days and picked up right where he left off: Raking. The Braves could have won the game in the 10th inning with bases loaded when Antoan Richardson was thrown out at the plate on a wild pitch.
Myrtle Beach 4, Kinston 5 - 13 Innings
Arodys Vizcaino's first start for the Pelicans wasn't quite as successful as Julio Teheran's but it is nothing to be concerned about. He took a few games to adjust to the Sally and I wouldn't be surprised if he took a couple to get adjusted in Carolina. Mycal Jones has taken to the Carolina league quite well with 7 hits in 3 games. The guy has been unreal for the last month and a half and he is starting to show some power in that small frame of his. If he can get his defense under control (20+ errors already this year) he is going to be our best position prospect not named Freeman.
Greenville 8, Rome 3
I am really starting to like these fireballing young pitchers with excellent control. Robinson Lopez bounced back nicely after 3 straight poor outings. The only thing I worry about right now with Lopez is his fielding as he has 6 erros on the year already, which is just crazy for a pitcher. Jordan Kreke has been hitting the ball well as of late with a .324 Avg for the month of June but with no power.
DSL Tigers @ DSL Braves
This game was played at 6:30 instead of 10:30 like all the other games so the score is not up yet at the time of this writing.

Who are all the starting pitchers on the Pelicans now?
romone_braves91 - June 13, 2010 via mobile
Delgado, Teheran, Hoover, Vizcaino and Matt Crim. I believe that Vizcaino took Oberholtzer’s spot.

Thanks. Solid rotation of future aces. Must be awesome to watch Pelican games knowing that these guys could be the next big thing.

Mycal Jones
I’ve been excited about him. He is 23, but do you think he’ll make it to the majors?
Braves Biceps - June 13, 2010
If Hicks with no offense get's the call, then sure..
He’s right at the average age for High-A ball. At Myrtle Beach a lot of the batters are either 22 or 23 (Harrilchuk, Milligan, Sime, Rodriquez, Miles), but most of the pitchers are advanced for the level (Delgado, Teheran, Oberholter, Vizcaino, Pruneda, and Spruill are all under age 21).

Pruneda went up to Mississippi, thus the spot for Vizcaino. :-)

How long do you guys think The Three ACE’keteers are in Mississippi?
Mighty Healthy - June 13, 2010
delgado will be there in two months, the rest probably next year

Sucre
How serious of a prospect is he?
VivaLosBravos - June 13, 2010
not
yondaime4 - June 13, 2010
He’s of those good personality types..
bwellnjonesco - June 13, 2010
Great at fielder, probably not going to hit much at the higher levels. He could carve out a nice career as a backup, maybe a part-timer on a poor team.

M-Braves lost in 11th inning.
Lee Hyde took the loss and Cody Johnson had 2 more K (90 now in 190 AB). Newspaper article here. Box score here.
Also, found this MiLB article about Eric Duncan of the M-Braves and was very surprised to learn he was the 27th overall pick of the 2003 draft. I’m sure it had probably been mentioned here in the past, but still wasn’t something I knew. And he also started the 2005 season rated by Baseball America as the No. 36 prospect in the minors. Good to seem him being more productive.
fandave - June 13, 2010
Duncan was DLed yesterday w/ a hand sprain.

On the plus side for Lopez...
that means he can either get to a lot of balls, or he induces a lot of comebackers.
I don’t expect Myke Jones to end up at SS anyway, maybe 2B or LF, but not SS. So maybe he’ll be better defensively elsewhere. I still think he’s possibly our Chone Figgins.
And as of this AM, still no DSL update. Damn it I need a Salcedo fix.
Mr. Sanchez - June 13, 2010
I keep checking for the DSL updates a well lol!
And I think your right about Jones he’s not going to be an everyday SS. I see him as a super-utility type as well Figgins is a great comp.
Jay212033 - June 13, 2010
or there are other possibilities, such as losing concentration and making lousy throws to the bases.
fandave - June 13, 2010
i am pretty sure several of his errors have been on pickoff attempts actually. I know the one tonight was and i remember at least one more being the same.
yondaime4 - June 13, 2010
Call up Barbaro
he is our future 1B. lol
Erihury - June 13, 2010
Hopefully Freddie can heat up
and maybe be our 1B by next year
Vizzy with a rough start but he’ll settle down and be just fine
bflobraves - June 13, 2010
if Glaus keeps playing like this, he’ll be worth 15 mil a year and we’ll have to resign him
Jaymin Patel - June 13, 2010
I was at the gwinnett game
I was excited by schafer and totally turned off by canizares. Schafer is struggling but he was the first on the field every inning and he was hustling every play. He looks like he’s doing everything he can to get back to the bigs. He also nearly put one in the seats down the opposite field line but it was just foul (I don’t know where he gets all that power from, but he put a charge in that ball). Canizares loafs a lot for a thirty year old minor league journeyman. Two of his doubles he strutted out of the box on and he nearly didn’t get back to second in time to tag up once, although he didn’t have a chance anyway. Freeman doesn’t look comfortable at the plate, hopefully a game like that can get him confident.
By the way for it being the time I’ve seen freeman in person, I have to admit, he looks kinda scrawny…. NOT!!! When he gets to the bigs we’ll have the two most incredibly sculpted, talented, and clean 21 year old sluggers the world has ever seen… BASH BROS. PART II: ATLANTA. sounds like a MTV reality show
