Gwinnett 4, Norfolk 0
Chris Resop is making a good case for the Braves not to get rid of him or to at least get something good when/if they do. His game tonight is probably the best all around game from any Braves pitcher this season just based on the fact that he went the distance and faced the minimum amount of hitters (the one hit ended in a fly out double play in the 2nd). Freddie Freeman performed the odd task of getting two sac flies and a walk. If he could have just gotten HBP it would have been a complete freak game.
Charlotte 4, Mississippi 4 - 11 Innings
Sorry, I have to go to bed and this game just won't stop. I'll fix this in the morning. There must be something in the water in Mississippi that changes soft tossing lefties into strike out pitchers because with minor and Diamond both posting better than expected K totals something is happening down there.
Myrtle Beach 2, Kinston 4
Julio Teheran is finally touched up by someone in the minors with his worst start for the Pelicans, which was still a quality start. He was a groundout machine today with 9 of them vs 2 flyouts. Just one of his hits allowed went for extra bases but he was still a little more hittable than usual. Mycal Jones picked up where he left off in Rome with a couple of hits. I can't wait to see what he does as he moves up.
Greenville 0, Rome 5
There were several very good performances in this game. Caleb Brewer makes his full season debut in professional baseball after being drafted in 2007 and missing a couple seasons to injury. He has a great arm and a lot of people are expecting some big things from him. Jake Hanson busted out of the slump he was in along with Jordan Kreke who will need to start hitting with more power as the organization is about to be flooded with third basemen. David Hale continues to thrive in a relieving role.
DSL Rangers 8, DSL Braves 7
Edward Salcedo busted out the boom stick with a 4 run homer in the 5th inning of this game. Of his 8 hits this season 4 of them have gone for extra bases. He is getting on base at a near .500 clip so far which is fairly impressive. This Alcantara guy has been hitting pretty well so far with 6 XBH himself.

The Resop game is impressive obviously.
But I love the Rome shutout maybe even more. We’ve promoted all the top guys to MB now, but the Rome team just keeps tossing up 0s. Great to see Brewer showing his dominant stuff and Hale continuing his resurgence. Those CS numbers for Rose and Harrilchak are downright frightening, though.

May be time for a new baserunning coach in Rome
acie4mvp - June 11, 2010
true the rome shut out was impressive, especially considering Brewer’s first appearance and Hale’s struggles. Harrilchak has been better stealing recently but still not good. and I have no idea what is going on with Kyle Rose this season.

Rose and Harrilchak
They are both better basestealers than that.
I can’t wait until Salcedo comes stateside so I can rally see what he’s got against better comp.

Miss won in the 11th, 5-4.

Was Kyle Rose injured or something?
I don’t remember seeing his name in the recaps too often the past week or so. I could’ve just overlooked him or something though.

He’s fine. :-)

MBraves won in the bottom of the 11th.
After Cody Johnson stuck out swinging to start the inning, Concepcion Rodriguez, Randy Gress and Alejandro Machado all singled. Rodriguez scored the winning run.
23 year old righty Jaye Chapman got the win. He had 2 scoreless innings of relief with 0 H, O BB and 2 K.

For God's sake
Call up Resop already and let Medlen move back into the pen. Lord knows we need the bullpen depth with Saito out, Moylan struggling, and uh.. that Chavez guy.

Resop’s performance last night was as good a pitching performance as I’ve personally ever seen in a AAA game. He was an absolute joy to watch last night. I hope he joins Atlanta on or before the 15th, but if not, we better get something quality in return because he’s the real deal this year.

You assume the next two days, he rests...
but if any scouts were there, I’m sure he gave them some good things to say about him to their GMs. I’d think a decision comes either Sunday, or with Monday off, on the 15th, Tuesday.

Also to note that Schafer was dropped to 7th in the lineup and Matt Young led off. Schafer was 1-4 though.
Dave_D - June 11, 2010
Schafer has been down there for about 3 days
