Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll

If it's Monday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. As always, this poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

On the one hand some of the bats are starting to come around, they’ve won 3 straight, and Heyward is killing the ball. On the other hand, Escobar went on the DL and Chipper and Mac are still not doing much. So I guess I stay with 7.

From a 6 to a 7, bats are coming around at all levels, but the big boys were playing the Astros . . .

6 to 7

Getting better, but not convinced yet. Chipper, Escobar, McCann should be fine, Diaz looks really bad, JJ worrying me, I want to see more run support against better teams. I’d really like to see the team with a stable line up, once Esco gets back in the game, I’d like a week or two without so many variations. Let the players get used to who’s behind them.

not worried

I think we are gonna be just fine. This is a good team, very solid. I think they are just learning to play as a team. Once they get used to each other, we will be ok. I think Glaus will work the kinks out and start hitting for more power. The only other thing I would like to see is for Chipper to stop pressing, I think he needs some time off. Give him a couple games to rest up, he’s gonna be fine. Oh, and I’d really like to see Wes Timmons get a call up and see Thurston go down. He’s been hanging around for awhile and I really think he could be great off the bench for us! Go Braves! Sidenote: CB, I enjoy reading all the things that you add on here. In your opinion, what do you think it would take for Wes to get sent up? Do you even think it’s possible?

I think Wes would have to having another outstanding season and there would have to be a slew of injuries to infielders. Heck, with Escobar out if Chipper got hurt and couldn’t play for a while right now Timmons could go up cause they’d be too thin on the infield. It’s going to take some odd circumstances that probably won’t be good news for the Braves.

100% that I have some sort of confidence in this team... sometimes.
Errrr.....

Sorry Guys! I didn’t mean to say Thurston. I was thinking in my head that he would get the call instead of Timmons! Just didn’t come out right!

Amazing to see where all the naysayers went after winning 3 in a row. I am still a 9 after last week. Prior to that I was a 10. I think it’s too early to panic, although there are some signs that cause me concern.

Good,

because Thurston looked very good in ST. I actually thought he beat out Conrad for the last bench spot. I would not be surprised to see him called up later in the season.

Re: Fail

was in Re: to jdmarine, oops:(

If we see some life in BMac, Chipper and Diaz on this next road trip...

my 7 may go to an 8. Until then, I’m staying pat.

Still at a 7. Good to see there aren’t as many trolls this week by submitting a 1.

Things to note:
1. Heyward is a beast.
2. Sweeping the Astros proves we can still beat weak teams.
3. Glaus looks to be coming around
4. Pitching was phenomenal and even Lowe looked good.

If we can get some consistency in the leadoff spot and Chipper starts hitting, this team will really go on a winning streak!

I still would like the Braves to try and trade Lowe for Vazquez. I wonder if the Yankees are getting desperate….

lucky

6….7…8…9….10 I started counting to have"patience" for the big bats to continue to wake up…but stopped at 6 because a three game sweep of the Stro’s don’t add up to any higher….I say move up Jay Hey to 5 spot…and with Yunel on the DL call up Freeman (or did that happen already?)

why would we replace Yunel with Freeman?

So, let me see if I get this: You want to take Heyward out of the 7 spot (where he is 2nd in the league in RBI) and move him up?

If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

While I agree the lineup doesn’t need to be torn down, I certainly can see the validity of putting him up to 6th and having the order look vaguely like this:

1 McLouth
2 Prado
3 Chipper
4 Glaus – protection for Chipper
5 Mac
6 Heyward – protection for Mac
7 Diaz
8 Cabrera

Giving Chipper and Mac some protection in the order should give them some better pitches to drive.

Or I could be completely off, in which case, disregard.

I think our lineup, as constructed right now, is capable of scoring a TON of runs, and given the abilities of our SP, we should see plenty more wins this season.

Don’t put pressure on the kid when no pressure is needed. He was moved up earlier in the season and that is when he slumped. Bobby moved him back to 7, and he responded by hitting 3 HRs in 3 straight games (although, he may have hit 6th in a couple of those due to the Yunel injury – I can’t remember.)

This.

Some people fail to remember that their suggestions have already been tried. Heyward really seems comfortable in the 7 spot, and not very comfortable at all lower in the order. I think the 7 spot really maximizes his potential for now. Moving him to a lower spot in the lineup will have to wait until late season, or next season – when he is more comfortable with major league pitching, and has seen most of the pitchers at least once.

Was an 8 last week, and still an 8 today.

Gotta go with seven. A winning road trip would definately make it 8. Hell, a 4-5 road trip gets an 8 from me

6 to 7. We are playing better but Chipper looks like crap. Let’s hope this week is even better than last week.

Not Confident....yet

I went down to a 5 from 6. maybe its just my nerves. Beating up on the astros doesn’t prove to me we are better than 2nd from last. What will get my confidence up is if we can at least have a full winning week again.
Glad to see Glaus finally hitting.

Beating up on the ’Stros caused you to LOSE confidence?

We shoulda thrown a game or two to keep confidence high.

Some people just have ridiculous reasoning processes….

6 to 7.

Rationale:

1. Heyward is out of his slump and back on his usual assault of poor defenseless pitchers. (good)
2. Schafer is back in action (good)
3. Chipper, BMac, and Diaz is crapola (bad)
4. Cody Johnson is warming up (good)
5. McLouth is warming up (good)
6. Wagner retiring (bad)
7. Kimbrell gonna take over (great)

18 1's??

Nice series sweep….but it was the stros…

I too am wary that is was “just the Astros” but, we did beat them in convincing fashion. It wasn’t like they were ever really in the games after the first few innings.

Exactly, even though they are the Astros it’s still a major league ballclub with Berkman, Pence, and Lee in the lineup and we faced one of the better LHP in the game as well.

We shut down the heart of their order very well.

Now it's 21- 1's

I would be willing to bet some of these 1’s are trolls.

The spambots are voting now……in direct violation of their programming. They’re learning!

I know I’m sounding like a broken record with this by now – but a start at 5 might stop some of the BS that are the 1-4 votes.

I still want to see more wins before I can go back to voting 8, as well as better defense and hitting, but things are looking up.
