Matt Young, playing left field, collected his first triple of the season, extending his hit streak to 5 games. Gregor Blanco has an 8 game hit streak of his own, and he's 11-30 in that span with a 1.005 OPS. Todd Redmond is on a bad streak, with losses in 3 of his last 4 games and a 10.06 ERA and 1.94 WHIP in those apperances.Jo Jo Reyes makes another rehab appearance, tossing a perfect 9th inning.

Mississippi 4, Huntsville 3

Donell Linares collected 3 hits and is now 7 for his last 18 with 2 doubles, a homer, and 5 RBI in that span. Willie Cabrera, who threw a runner out at home, also had a multi-hit game, and has a solid run of his own going, with 8 hits in his last 20 at bats. He's had a blazing May, hitting .414 with a 1.055 OPS. Jacob Thompson had a solid, if unspectacular, start and the bullpen pitched 3 scoreless innings, with Juan Abreu picking up the win, his 1st, and Lee Hyde picking up the save, his 4th.

Myrtle Beach 1, Wilmington 2, 15 innings

David Francis picked up his second walk off loss of the week, this time in the 15th inning. The other pitchers were great though, as Yeliar Castro made his first good start of the season, though it was just his second start, and Jeff Lorick and Luis Avilan combine for 5 scoreless innings in their Pelicans debuts. It's surprising that Samuel Sime has kept his solid hitting going, but his OPS, .658, isn't very impressive, mostly because his slugging, .324, is lower than his on base percentage, .333. Putting M. Jones in the recap is becoming a problem, since the Braves now have Mitch, Mike, and Myke.

Rome 0, Hickory 1

The Braves are trying to find a place for Jake Hanson's bat, playing him at first base tonight. He made an error, but if he could maintain a .438 average and 1.063 OPS for a full season I'm sure he could get away with making a lot of errors. Robinson Lopez gets the tough-luck loss, giving up just an unearned run, cause by an error by centerfielder Kyle Rose. Lopez is really looking great this year, and games like this where he's allowing less than a baserunner an inning are very encouraging. Tom Berryhill pitches a pair of scoreless innings and now has a streak of 6 scoreless over his last 4 appearances. If you take out his May 4th appearance, where he gave up 5 runs in 1 inning, his ERA drops from 3.86 to 1.17 and his WHIP drops from 1.04, which is already impressive, to 0.78.
