A funny thing happened in Gwinnett last night

As cbtits mentioned in the comments of last night's Minor League Recap about the way the ending of the Gwinnett/Pawtucket game came about, here is the video evidence of the fracas.  Try and ignore my crappy filming, and the fact that I inexplicably managed to not follow the flyball's actual path.

Star-divide

But it's all good because Mitch Jones came back and took the walk to load the bases, and then Brent Clevlen ended the game in my favorite possible way to end a game, with the walk-off walk.  Now you get to see the G-Braves celebrate twice in one game!

Overall, one of the best baseball days ever.  cbtits and I pulled double duty by going to both the Atlanta Braves game versus the Astros, and then hauled ass back up to Lawrenceville to see the Gwinnett Braves game versus the Pawtucket Red Sox.  One game was a fantastic blowout, the other one a nitty-gritty, hard-fought, tooth-and-nail, well-played baseball game with a close and exciting finish.  Much thanks to cbtits and gondeee for hanging out; nothing like relying on your creepy internet friends for a good time.

Nice vids….sorry I missed you guys at the Gwinnett game tonight…that was a crazy ending though!

Great game!

It was my first Gwinnett Braves game and I got on the field and met Freddie Freeman (super nice). And when I got on the elevator from the clubhouse, Phil Niekro introduced himself. Dream come true. Couldn’t have had a better experience. Plus, a Jason Heyward bobblehead!

were the Heyward bobbleheads legit looking? or were they crappy like 90% of the ones they give out now?

I have a Justin Upton bobblehead that looks like a male Halle Berry. I don’t even know why ballparks try anymore.

I’m fairly convinced it was supposed to be a Brandon Jones bobblehead and they changed it at the last minute.

I completely agree. It looked nothing like him.

you are a very lucky man

I haven’t gone to any Braves game yet. Its kind of hard to get there when I live 1,150 miles away.

cb, rh, gondeee

Sorry I missed out on hanging w/ you guys at this awesome game – that is, if you would’ve tolerated my presence. Transportation issues kept me from heading up after the blowout at the Ted…next time I’ll impose on one of ya for a ride (just kidding, that’s not my real personality, I’m only an internet thug).
Great to meet you face-to-face CB!

You too! Always nice putting faces on my creepy internet friends.

I remember an Atlanta game where the bases were loaded and the pitcher balked in the winning run. That’s right, he balked it! I think it was Skip calling that game on the radio. Well, whoever it was went nuts. They were like “HE BALKED! HE BALKED!” a funny ending to a game. It was great

it was INSANE....

3rd trip to Gwinnett, 1st on gameday….gonna be hard to top that……the foul ball homerun not a homerun was SO foul that my 7 yr old looked at me in total disbelief and said…..“I know you told me not to argue with umpires, but someone REALLY needs to check on that!!!!”. Pictures later, maybe. (If they turned out any good, our seats were def OTP…lol) Didn’t find CB until after the game. (a little poor planning on our part…) but we did get there in time for some bobbleheads….what a night. wow!!

Didn’t realize you were going to be there too! If I had known all these TCers were going, I would’ve altered the plans that kept me away! Oh wait…

don't feel bad....

we didn’t know for sure we were going until about 3:30 yesterday….lol. We’ll get it together soon. We promised the little guy a trip to the Ted after school gets out. He made straight A’s and gets free tix, so I’m guessing we’ll be sitting up on the roof…. :-) But….that is one of my fondest childhood memories, is sitting in the top of the old AFC stadium (literally) with my Dad and our free tix from getting all A’s. Those were the days. Too bad we didn’t realize it then…..
