The good work Martin Prado has done at the top of the Braves lineup has not gone unnoticed. He was named the National League Player of the Week today for his work last week. Prado hit .367/.387/.667 last week against the Brewers and Diamondback, including 3 homeruns and 11 RBI.
It's actually interesting that he was named the POTW, since he may have been out-produced by his own teammate. Troy Glaus collected a line of .417/.500/.833, and also had 3 homeruns, with 7 RBI. And Eric Hinske topped both of them, hitting .529/.550/.941 with 1 homerun and 8 RBI for the week.
Anyway, congrats to Martin. When you add in the game winning hit two days ago, and the first Braves grand slam since 2008, he deserves it...

Great recognition for Martin,
though you’re right, Glaus would have been a better choice (Hinske probably didn’t get enough ABs to really be a good candidate). I’m just glad that we could manage to have MULTIPLE legit candidates for the POTW honor. Let’s keep that going!

If you factor in position...
Prado is probably at least as deserving.
Biggus Rickus - May 17, 2010
Yep
pretty much one of my favorite players since his debut in ’06.
Scott Coleman - May 17, 2010

MacsGlasses - May 17, 2010
if he keeps it up
I think a 3yr/12-15MM deal would be fair.
Scott Coleman - May 17, 2010
He still has three arb-eligible years…hopefully next year is reasonable and we can use the next two years to get a new contract in order.

Props to Martini
I’d like to see him and Heyward in the All-Star game.

How many of these did KJ ever win?
Mr. Sanchez - May 17, 2010
He was player of the month of April, as opposed to just the week, so there is always that.
justincredubil02 - May 17, 2010
Nice

Guys?
The back and forth is getting a bit……..tiresome.
We’re all Braves fans here, right?
UMDBHIK - May 17, 2010
It’s funny. People who were for one certain player are accepting of the other guy’s amazingness. People who are/were in another guy’s camp can’t seem to get over the fact that both guys are really good ballplayers.
justincredubil02 - May 17, 2010
Or was just baiting you...
one or the other.
Mr. Sanchez - May 17, 2010
I wasn’t referring to you really. I know you bait. I am referring to some others around these here parts.

Haters gotta hate, lovers wanna love...
I don’t even want, none of the above….

Please at least acknowledge you know what I'm hinting at above...
your body, like a port a potty.
Mr. Sanchez - May 18, 2010
not bad...
but I hope y’all at least know the next line of that song.
Mr. Sanchez - May 18, 2010
Great news for Martin! I’m very happy for him.
TheLetter2 - May 17, 2010
I remember last year someone kinda called me out about disagreeing w/a Prado for Uggla trade (I wanted to keep Prado). Thanks Marteenie for making me feel like I’ve got a little baseball sense. And congrats.
