This is one of those days where everything seems to go right for the Braves. Tim Hudson got off to a good start in the top of the first inning by striking out the side, then Martin Prado got things going for the Atlanta offense with a homerun on the second pitch he saw leading off the bottom half of the first inning. The Braves added another run in the first on an Eric Hinske sac fly, but that was only the beginning of the day for Hudson, Prado, and HInske.
Tim Hudson was in total command all day. He solved his control problems that plagued him in his last start, and only walked one batter while striking out six. More impressively he only allowed three hits, and only gave up one run. He also helped himself with the bat by collecting two hits and an RBI. One of those hits was a legged out infield single late in the game when he really didn't need to run hard, but he smelled a hit and could hardly contain his smile as things kept going his way.
Martin Prado made it a four-hit day including two homeruns, both were solo shots leading off an inning. Eric Hinske helped chase the Arizona starter, Dan Haren, in the fifth inning when he clubbed a two-run homerun in a four-run fifth inning for Atlanta. Hinske added an RBI single an inning later.
Troy Glaus also had a three-hit day including a homerun off the top of the center field fence. Jason Heyward may have been 0-for-4, but he walked twice, stole third base, and scored two runs. Every Braves starter made it on base at least twice, helped in part by 9 walks allowed by Arizona pitching. Their bullpen was predictably a sieve, allowing the Braves six additional runs.
Brent Clevlen replaced Hinske late in the game (this started to resemble a spring training game) and he got his first hit as a member of the Braves, a double in the eighth.
A great win for the Braves and more importantly they win the series. Martin Prado is now the hits leader in the National League.

I really started to like him in Toronto…Got to watch him a lot….and him major bombs….and 2002 was pretty cool….he was dynomite in the Angels play-off run that year…I just like watching the guy hit home runs…he launches em most time and hopefully at least 20-25 more times for ATL. I wouldn’t be opposed to having him back next year – with a raise of course. No promises Freeman will be ready.

Prado showing skills w/the bat & on the field when he made that diving over the shoulder snag & then had the presence of mind to throw to first for the DP. My hero.
Also looks like Glaus & Hinske are turning out to be as advertised. Especially glad to see that for Troy since he’s been the butt of many blogger’s comments of late. And what can you say about Heyward that hasn’t already been said. The guy goes 0 for 4 & still has an impact.

where the hits and walks are low. He’s making it so one of the 5 in the opening day rotation are awfully expendable over the winter. Hanson and Hudson are the only guaranteed keepers.

I'd disagree...
AA to AAA, the number of guys who have played in the majors or will play in the majors, is increased I’d wager. Compare our AA roster to AAA, one is much more accomplished than others. AA might have more “prospects”, but AAA has more MLB experience now, and I’d wager when all is said and done they’d have more MLB time going forward too.

Mets fans are awful. Heyward whoops Frenchy’s butt, Chipper beats up Wright, our pitching staff is better (with the exceptions of Lowe and KK…) and we’re awesomer! I recently joined AA, so i could comment on their stuff but my membership won’t be active until about 9:00 on Tuesday. I read some stuff on there, too, and I figured out they hate Joe Morgan as well.

To me, if you're a Braves fan the best part of this game was....
Hudson going 8 innings. No offdays until next Monday and with Lowe, Medlen, and Kawikami coming up you gotta figure that the bullpen will get some innings the next few games, not to mention that they pitched a fair bit last night as well.

between the two, it’d be Co-MVPs for this game. Huddy had the great outing on the hill plus 2 hits. Prado flashed that web gem, and had the two HRs and big day at the plate. Just keep healthy boys, that’s all I’m asking right now. Do that, and I get the feeling the Ws will take care of themselves.

I picked a good day to go to the game
(except for the muggy weather). I’m so glad to see Prado raking in the leadoff spot—it’s what I’ve been screaming for since the offseason. Really, nobody had a bad game and those 3 guys had fantastic days (and Glaus too).
Fun fact: the first 2 hits off of Hudson both deflected off his glove before going through to CF. With just a tad better luck / fielding ability, he might have had a no-hitter deep into the game. He also had only 1 fewer hit than the whole DBacks team!
I’m glad that they could come out and score 13 after last night. Makes everyone forget all about that horrid game.

My little league team had a blast today
They really loved today’s game and were really stoked by the Braves doing so well. Most of them were not happy about last night tho, but we won 2 out of 3. My son is happy that they broke camp in his backyard this morning. 14 kids, a coach, 3 Dads and 2 Moms, me? I slept in the house with the AC. We were at all 3 games this weekend and the kids with the exception of my grandson had never been to a major league game. I think we must have spent a thousand dollars between us all. It was worth it.

Good Game
Prado is really coming into his own as our 2B. No matter where you put him he just hits. He kind of reminds me of Derek Jeter. Jeter was never a guy with amazing HR power and was always a just good overall contact hitter and thats what Prado is. He hits the balls where they are pitched and doesnt try to do anything fancy with them.
