Gwinnett 3, Pawtuckett 2
Stephen Marek pitched 13 nearly flawless innings in AA Mississippi and he was rewarded with a callup to Gwinnett to replace Craig Kimbrel and promptly gave up his first run of the season in less than an inning of work. Luckily for Gwinnett Mike Dunn has been ridiculously good this season and he came on to get the last 4 outs.
Mississippi 3, Charlotte 15
Richard Sullivan and Thomas Palica both got lit up in their 4.2 innings of work combining to give up 14 of the 15 runs of the game. You would think Chattanooga's offense was nothing but Mike Stantons. Chattanooga did pull off the rare back-to-back triples in the first inning from their 3 & 4 hitters and then later in the game their 5 hitter also added one of his own. My boy Willie Cabrera continues to hit the ball well in recent weeks and really is one of the more underrated players in our organization. Sure this is his second year in Mississippi, but he didn't embarrass himself last season and he does have some interesting split. He has extreme L/R splits with a .426 OPS vs LHP and an .893 vs RHP. The split that really gets me is his home/road split. He has posted a .991 OPS at home this season in one of the most notorious pitchers parks in the minors and just a .570 OPS away from home. If he can find some way to consistently tap into his power he could very useful as he is finally showing a good eye at the plate.
Kinston 5, Myrtle Beach 0
Just when I think Myrtle Beach might be getting their offense going they do their very best to prove my hunch wrong. Adam Milligan remains on the shelf and the rest of the Pelicans lineup managed just 3 hits and 0 walks. Myrtle Beach was up against a pitcher in TJ McFarland who has allowed just 3 runs in 30+ innings this season but that doesn't make me any more hopeful for their offense going forward. Brett Oberholtzer has found the going a little tougher in the Carolina league as batters were hitting him to the tune of a .390 AVG coming into this game.

Anyone know what happened to
Freddie Freeman and why he hasnt been playing
JasonHeywardisGod - May 10, 2010
He tweaked something late last week, but I never heard what exactly he hurt. Its hopefully just some sort of mild strain. He’s been day-to-day since Thursday I think.

What do we do with Resop if he keeps this up?
TradeAndruw - May 11, 2010
Put him in left field?
Bobby always liked the guy. I think Bobby really goes have an eye for talent, even if he sometimes makes decision like keeping Francoeur as the starter in right.

+1
I’d rather him play left field than pitch

Add him to pile of potential bullpen arms?
If we can find a nice package for a reliever or two, we’ve got depth with Resop, Gearrin, Dunn, etc to part with some of our bullpen arms.

I like Resop for the rotation. You’re not going to see JJ for another 4-6 weeks and I don’t think KK will make it that long.

Been wondering for a while, now
What’s going on with RSF? He hasn’t played in a month.

Didn’t he break his wrist or something? Gonna take a while for that to heal.
Smoltz's Beard - May 11, 2010
Yep...
messed up wrist/hand. He’ll be out for a bit.
