From a comment in today's game thread by pacgnosis:
I have never in my life seen anything like this, where every single thing that can go wrong does go wrong. It’s not like we have bad players. At least the late ’80s Braves had that excuse. This is just freaky, like we dug up an indian burial ground or something.
I think he's on to something with the Indian curse.

Maybe Chief Noc-A-Homa was buried there

Unreal
I’ve stopped saying “it can’t get any worse” Bobby deserves better

right
it’s impossible that this team isn’t that good. instead it has to be a curse. this is a case study in the mental hoops fans will jump through rather than admit there is actually something wrong.
jerryclore - April 29, 2010
Amen
Why can’t we all just admit that this team might not be that good. We have no leadoff hitter, no cleanup hitter and several aging stars that just aren’t cutting it. We don’t have time to wait for Glaus to come around and chipper to not get hurt every other game. Stop saying it can’t get anyworse because it can.

you speak the truth brother
but the ultimate slump buster is coming to town tomorrow: a more dysfunctional team (i.e., houston astros)
jerryclore - April 29, 2010
...
that has a better record than us….and has their best player back…
dunnytwogloves - April 29, 2010
I'm not sure I can accept that
We have too many good aspects of this team to be THIS bad of a team. Our rotation is still strong, and we know a lot of the people who aren’t hitting right now CAN hit and are talented, and are doing horribly right now. When everyone on a team slumps at the same time, this kind of thing happens. I had too much hope going into this season to say at the end of April that we’re just a bad team. I guess we’ll find out soon whether its “denial” or not, but I honestly think we are MUCH better than this.
E-Lizz - April 29, 2010
Yeah, because I was totally serious about the Indian burial ground thing. Obviously there’s something wrong. But there was no reason to think anything was wrong before the season and it isn’t clear how to fix it. You have to admit its been a pretty incredible streak. No matter what you think of this team, they’re not nearly this bad.

timely hitting
how does that work?
ATLandUNC - April 29, 2010
Um, Yea...
Despite this slump/streak/whatever you want to call it, the Braves will never be as absolutely horrible as this group of idiots.
XBEARDX - April 30, 2010
Disagree
As brutal as the past week or so has been, we could always wind up where the Mets were last year, as in basically putting out a Double-A team by the end of the year because of all the injuries. When almost our whole lineup and rotation is gone because of fluke DL stints, I’ll compare then. At least we still have most of our
starplayers out there every day so this thing will turn around eventually. But that’s just me trying to be optimistic for once.MTSU11 - April 29, 2010
I agree. with MTSU11
Also, I hate to see how pessimistic fans can be, just because we can’t win all the time. 9 in a row? It’s not that bad, and yes, it could be worse. Just look at the Orioles. You aren’t a real fan if you can’t stand by your team even when they look worse than awful. Baseball isn’t about winning—it’s about giving your best effort. The Braves players don’t want to be this bad—everyone knows that. Just watch, and within a few games, they’ll be back their old selves, making us proud, and making us cheer.
Joseph_C - April 29, 2010
are you joking?
Its not being pessimistic, its being realistic, I am not abandoning my team I am being passionate about my team. We are not in little league anymore my man, IT IS ABOUT WINNING!!!! That’s what they are there for and if its not happening then somethings gotta give or just settle for being a mediocore team and be done with it
Mcannstheman - April 29, 2010 via mobile
That was us two tears ago.
TradeAndruw - April 29, 2010
Gregor Blanco making 150 starts FTW!
Scott Coleman - April 29, 2010
In many ways, I think this is worse than the Mets situation
The Mets knew last year after all of those freak injuries that they would not compete. The Mets essentially had an excuse for how bad they were last year towards the end because they had NO ONE to play. The Braves however, are not in that situation. We have our good players out on the field and things are still going horribly wrong. Teams like this generally don’t make 20 errors in the first 21 games. I haven’t seen anything like this in a long time.
E-Lizz - April 29, 2010
KJ just hit a 3-run BOMB to RF in Chicago
That’s 9 on the season after hitting 2 today. Good lord.
Scott Coleman - April 29, 2010
I’m watching that game. Him & Rochy are having an insane month!
FitzFan - April 29, 2010
Trade for Prince Fielder already
ATLandUNC - April 29, 2010
We all need to preform some kind of ritual........
Sacrafice a Francoeur doll, make a peace offering to chief- noc- a -homa, pray to Hanl Aaron, just something to end this madness, I mean a two out homer that barely scrapes the foul poll come on!!!!!!, I know we are playing awful but theres a luck compenant in there
Shoert - April 29, 2010
I would very much love to burn a Frenchy doll.

Trade
Melky. Can’t field. Can’t hit. Can’t lead off. Slow. I did’nt want to trade for this so so player anyway. Play Diaz everyday. Nate’s a better fielder than Melky. With Glause hitting like he’s hitting in minors put Eric on 1st for a few games. I love me some Braves.
Grey Rider - April 29, 2010
Good think no one else has ever recommended any of these ideas...
Also, what were the Braves thinking in not asking your opinion about the trade… Now that they know you didn’t want to trade for Melky, I bet the get rid of him!
Vance in Sacramento - April 29, 2010
Who in their right mind would trade for Melky?
Oh right. Frank Wren traded for Melky!!!
I honestly don’t think anyone would trade for Melky right now…
HereComesBream - April 29, 2010 via mobile
Are the players properly conditioned?
I can’t help but wonder about the Braves conditioning program. None of the pitchers are going past 6 innings. Chipper, Escobar, Reyes and Jurrjens are dealing with injuries. Prado and Diaz have resorted to TV infomercial conditioning programs. Nearly the whole team is in a slump at the plate, the catchers can’t throw to 2nd base, the infield makes way too many errors, I can’t help but wonder if they are properly conditioned.
bighop - April 29, 2010
A) Chipper’s been having these freak things happen for years, he’s no reflection on our med staff as a whole.
B) Escobar likewise has been susceptible to the nagging-type injuries, though he hasn’t had a serious DL-style one with the exception of his collision with Church.
C) Reyes is suffering a “you massively suck, get off our roster!” DL stint
D) PItchers have been pitching into some bad luck. Remember, Hanson had a start ended at 4 2/3 because he’d thrown 102 pitches due to the Phils fouling off about 15 pitches in each at-bat. That’s no fault of the medical staff- when your pitch count gets run up, you’re going to leave a little early.
