Norfolk 2, Gwinnett 7
Gwinnett improves to 9-11 on the season as their offense is finally starting to come to life. If only they could get the parent club to come around as well. There wasn't any one player that really took over for the Braves but rather they just scored by having bunches of men on base all night with 9 hits and 9 walks to go along. Freddie Freeman cooled off a little going 0-4 with a BB. My guess is Jeff Lyman will be the guy that gets called up if any starters go down (assuming there that Medlen moves into the 5th starter spot).
Mississippi 0, Montgomery 4
Mississippi's offense was stifled for the second straight game as the team managed just 5 hits total. Alex Romero has been the most consistent hitter not named Eric Duncan (who is in a mini slump at the moment). Scott Diamond has allowed opposing hitters to bat .390 off of him this season to go along with 14 walks in 17 innings. Even if you have raised your strike out rate walking that many guys isn't going to get it done. Or letting other teams hit nearly .400 against you.
Potomac 7, Myrtle Beach 6
JJ Hoover delivered his best start of the season for Myrtle Beach but in a rare instance for nearly any Braves affiliate this year the bullpen blew the lead in the 8th and 9th. Adam Milligan has been mired in in a pretty terrible slump hitting just .146 in his last 10 games with 19K and 1 walk. He had his first double since April 16th and I am a firm believer that doubles are a great indicator of how a guy is hitting, though I am going to need a couple more XBH before I declare him off the snide. Cole Miles has also been pretty hot with an .845 OPS in his first 6 games.
Rome 0, Charleston SC 5
It appears I was a little early jumping on the Ryan Weber bandwagon though his groundball rate is unreal at 6.25 and I believe that his ERA is probably a bit fluky with what is undoubtedly a poor defense behind him. David Hale has not been good and neither has the Rome offense recently as they have not scored more than 3 runs since April 12.

Kyle Rose didn’t get caught stealing AND Cody Johnson didn’t strike out. I’m impressed.

Freeman
Had a BB not a K.
And Kyle Rose got picked off which goes in the books as a caught stealing.
Jay212033 - April 28, 2010
If Rose got picked off tonight it wasn’t in the box score…

Alright, it was in the recap but it wasn’t in the actual boxscore. Strange.
cbwilk - April 28, 2010
It does actually say it in the boxscore as well
PO = Picked Off
BASERUNNING
PO: Flores (1st base by Perez, K), Rose (1st base by Perez, K), Harrilchak, C (2nd base by Perez, K).
Why is everyone being such a jerk about it. I just simply pointed out that he did get caught stealing no big issue. Is the ML club bringing out the jerk in every Braves fan.

It didn’t when I wrote the wrapup. You need to understand that the minor league boxes aren’t always spot on especially right after the game ends which coincidentally is when I write the write up

Yeah, that wasn’t there when I posted the link. I don’t feel like I was being a jerk about it. I said it was in the recap but not in the boxscore (which is wasn’t at the time) and noted that that was strange. Not sure how that makes me a jerk. But thanks for staying classy.

Yeah don’t expect me to go digging through every game recap inning by inning. You feel to do so however.

Rome
There offense is similar to the ML offense. One guy hitting well and the rest struggling, good pitching and an outstanding BP. I think Rose will get a promotion soon, even though he’s not stealing bases like he should be he’s getting on base.

So I'm guessing Norfolk has a bad C...
or slow P?
Mr. Sanchez - April 28, 2010
Yeah they were running all night and there appears to be a concerted effort throughout our system to run more. Maybe preparing for bobbys imminent departure

4 or the 5 where stolen in the 1.1 innings that Chris George was pitching. I don’t recall him ever being especially slow to the plate, or being prone to being stolen off of. The Braves must have figured something out in his move to the plate that guaranteed they wouldn’t get caught. I’m not particularly impressed with Donachie as a catcher or a hitter. He’s pretty much average. An average catcher and a pitcher who’s move isn’t fooling anyone is a pretty good recipe for steals.

How many games in a row has Rose gotten on base?
