I'm not usually one to say "don't go to the ballpark," but this weekend may be an exception. Here is a list of events that will be going on in downtown Atlanta this weekend:
Braves games
Hawks playoff games
Atlanta Dogwood Festival
Sweetwater 420 Festival
Robotics Convention at the GWCC
...and the potential wild card of traffic disruption, Freaknik!
Yep, Freaknik is back, and while there are no public events, you can bet that there will be people descending on the city in search of a party.
With that in mind, I'm getting the hell out of town (I live right in the city down by the Dome) and going to Rome for the weekend to see that talented young team play. I believe I get to watch Arodys Vizcaino start tonight and David Hale start tomorrow night, and tomorrow night's a free bobble head to the first 1000 fans!
With that said, have a great weekend, and if you go downtown, bring your patience.

I'll be at the Rome Braves game tonight. Should be a goody
BravesFanScout - April 16, 2010
Supposed to go the Sweetwater festival tommorrow, and i’m not very excited about the potential chaos that will be downtown atlanta, but it s for a friends birthday, so i’m stuck. I’m pretty upset that i’ll be dealing with a bunch of atlanta traffic and i don’t get a Braves game out of this deal.

I'm a brave girl
…and I’m going to tonight’s game and tomorrow’s. It’s going to be awesome. :D

Gwinnett has Heyward and Hanson bobbleheads this year
It’s okay if you want to retract that statement, or change your pants, or both
royhobbs - April 16, 2010
Heyward – Saturday May 1st.
Hanson – Saturday May 15th

Going to Sunday's game
All the nonsense and riff-raff should be gone by then.

NOT TO MENTION
They’re planning on doing some Connector road work, can’t remember if it’s north or southbound this weekend as well.
Sounds like it’s going to be fun!
/thankful to live on south side, easier to get to Turner Field
royhobbs - April 16, 2010
they delayed that… I think.
Fatvirus - April 16, 2010
They delayed one direction
But not both, last I heard
royhobbs - April 16, 2010
I’m headed to the game tonight and then Dogwood tomorrow and Sweetwater 420 on Sunday (420 Fest is perhaps the best festival in town, everyone should check it out). Awesome weekend… and I can take the train to everything.

Kid N’ Play should marry Salt N’ Pepa.

Salty Kid Pepa Play?
BeantownVol - April 16, 2010
Thanks for the heads up
I was going to the Melky autograph thing at CNN center and Rome afterward, but I’m glad I was warned. Now I’m just gonna go to Rome and call it a day.

All these people are now
heading to my home town. I like it.

Too excited to stay away
Going Saturday to stare at the Jay Hey kid. Should be a big crowd, when I called the ticket office most of the good seats were gone.
GTwill - April 16, 2010
So does this ensure a crowd of less than 20,000 for all the games?
bravos1984 - April 16, 2010
Y'know
Georgia-navigator.com is down already for me. I think Rome’s starting to look real nice right about now
royhobbs - April 16, 2010
In Rome
The starting pitcher opposite Vizcaino is an Atlanta kid. I actually went to high school with him (Providence Christian Academy) in Lilburn. His name is Colin McHugh. He’s been a lifelong Braves fan but was unfortunately drafted by the Mets after a few good years at Berry College.
