It's a 7:05pm night game on CSS (Comcast), and on MLB Network for non-Atlanta markets (Atlanta market will likely be blacked out). It should be a nice matchup, phacing the Phils for the phirst time this spring. Here is the lineup
Nate McLouth, CF
Martin Prado, 2B
Chipper Jones, 3B
Troy Glaus, 1B
Brian McCann, C
Yunel Escobar, SS
Jason Heyward, RF
Melky Cabrera, LF
Kenshin Kawakami, P
From a DOB tweet:
Cox about tonight being opening-day lineup: "Pretty close. I don't know if Heyward will be hitting seventh, if he keeps going like this."
This is the lineup I've had in mind for the past two months. I think even if Heyward keeps raking they'll keep him protected lower in the lineup early in the season. At some point the league is going to adjust to him, so we'll see how his learning curve is then.

GO BRAVES!
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
haha, this
Smoltz's Beard - March 9, 2010
Does this mean Diaz will be sitting more in favor of Melkman?
ChrisK562 - March 9, 2010
Against righties, yes.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010 via mobile
Even though we’ve proven Diaz=Melky against righties? Oh well.
ChrisK562 - March 9, 2010
Yep. Unfortunately.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010 via mobile
I guess you could argue that since the are the same offensively vs. righties, you take Melky’s defense over Diaz’s.
Even though I’d prefer to see Diaz out there any day of the week.
alligatorimpersonator - March 9, 2010
basically
Mighty Healthy - March 9, 2010
This sucks
AT&T U-Verse doesn’t have CSS, and I don’t get MLB Network either.
I need a better service package.
Bronn - March 9, 2010
Anyone know who’s pitching for Philly tonight?
Zeus12888 - March 9, 2010
halladay
atl192485 - March 9, 2010
who?!
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
is on first…just kidding. =]
ATLforlife - March 9, 2010
This is
almost certainly the lineup Bobby will be using in the regular season. It’s also the one I would use if it were up to me (though probably not a straight platoon with Diaz/Melky).
B_Mac - March 9, 2010
pitchin
who’s going after Kawakami?
scorby911 - March 9, 2010
Heyward is gonna throw a few innings
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
he’s also catching…. himself
atl192485 - March 9, 2010
this
is the greatest response I could have hoped to get.
scorby911 - March 9, 2010
Kawakami: Back for more, eh Halladay? Didn’t you learn anything from last year?
….this is funny if you think about KK moving his lips and having the sound come out a half second later like a badly dubbed imported movie.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 9, 2010
LOL
Smoltz's Beard - March 9, 2010
I just pantomimed doing this very thing
I really need a life.
Bronn - March 9, 2010
Decent enough opening day line-up
Except for the 9 spot.
Of course, I’d like to platoon the lead-off spot, and put Matty up at #1 whenever we’re facing a lefty.
Bronn - March 9, 2010
Same here.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Joe Nathan has a torn ligament in his elbow
Ouch. I wouldn’t wanna be a Twins fan today.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
is he now all but assured of TJ?
Zeus12888 - March 9, 2010
sounds like he’s going to rest it for a few weeks, but it would be a miracle if he didnt have to have surgery on his elbow. I’m no expert and i’m not sure if he would need TJS, but I would sure think so.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Get him off of your fantasy baseball draft lists, guys.
Bronn - March 9, 2010
no kidding
that’s why I think its stupid to draft so early. Nathan was easily a top-3 reliever. If you drafted him, you better strike gold with a bullpen sleeper candidate.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Storen
J-Freak - March 9, 2010
Soria
apoxonbothyourhouses - March 10, 2010
He’s really not a sleeper at this point, the word is out that the Royals have this one starter and this one closer you may want to look in on…
J-Freak - March 10, 2010
Or a fantasy Nathan owner
I scared my roommate with a profanity-laced tirade this morning.
J-Freak - March 9, 2010
I don't understand...
…why does Cox keep putting McClouth at leadoff? He doesn’t have the OBP for leadoff. I think Prado would be better at leadoff, plus McClouth has the power to move him around the bases. I’m not a big believer in looking at pure stats, but OBP is one of those that is pretty representative of how good a guy is at getting on base. I realize McClouth has speed, but it does no good if he’s not on the bases…
mwchipper - March 9, 2010
who's McClouth?
Zeus12888 - March 9, 2010
sorry McLouth....ugh I hate typos
mwchipper - March 9, 2010
haha sorry to bust on you.
I kind of agree with you, but he’s hit by far the best in his career out of the leadoff spot
Zeus12888 - March 9, 2010
nah I had it coming
But I will be watching tonight on MLB Network. First game I catch this year. And I ordered the package from directv! Yeah baby! Tough being a Braves fan in Louisiana since TBS doesn’t cover them anymore
mwchipper - March 9, 2010
yeah, learn how to spell you jakass.
:)
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
The MLB adjusting to Heyward is like saying 2 can equal 1.
They’re both just impossible.
nick9314 - March 9, 2010
Jason Heyward sed, Yo Peter Gammons, come up for air bro. U've been S'ing my D for like 20 minutes straight now.
nick9314 - March 9, 2010

Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010

Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010

alligatorimpersonator - March 9, 2010
Someone dig it up…please?
ATLforlife - March 9, 2010
“no the mets are still better at most positions:
Schnider/Mcccan – tie (schnider has better d)
Kotch / Delgao – 38 hrs from carlos
Castillo/Johnson – castillo can return to a .300 hitter but jonson barely wins
wright/jones – no contest, wright
reyes/who??? – reyes wins, best ss in the majors
tatis/diaz – tatis raked last year
beltran/anderson – beltran is an all-star
francouer/church – church raked before his concusion he will rebond
santana/lowe – santana is the best sp in the majors

pelfrey/jurgens – jurgens gives up 2 many hits
maine/vazquez – vazquez wins barely cuz he had a good 07 but maine has more potential

Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 9, 2010

bravesfan203 - March 9, 2010
So...
Over/under on Heywards next homer:
500 feet
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010 via mobile

cant believe you asked
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
Go Yunel!!
: )
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 9, 2010
i saw heyward play in myrtle beach last year
and he went like 4 for 5 with 2 homers it was crazy
BRaves1 - March 9, 2010
wait
so Brian Jordan thinks Escobar will drive in 100 runs
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Jesus, Yunel. I could run faster than you
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
apparently
hustling doesnt count if you’ve already made the team
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
word
Mighty Healthy - March 9, 2010
i hope you're kidding
last thing the braves need is to worry about yunel getting hurt digging one out during ST
bravesfan203 - March 9, 2010
I am. Its ST, although if i see that during the year, I’ll kill him
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
Brian Jordan is about to make me slap my puppy
That a boy - March 9, 2010
Halladay is trembling
BigG1392 - March 9, 2010
why does esco run to first like andruw??
show some hustle boy!
mwchipper - March 9, 2010
St, folks
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
This
Let’s not pull any hammys on March 9th, boys.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010 via mobile
Heyward
3-1
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Ryan Howard was scared of Heyward.
BigG1392 - March 9, 2010
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
Heyward
Infield single cause he HUSTLED!!!
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
well
error on Rollins
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
he should be hustling
he doesnt have a job
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
Its his!
That a boy - March 9, 2010
Oh please
That’s a hit.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010 via mobile
That was such a hit.
Just as they announced it was an error, they showed the replay showing that his foot was on first as Howard was muffing the throw.
cavebird - March 9, 2010
Jay-Hey!!!
Br8vesfan - March 9, 2010
That is how you run down the line
take notes yunel
mwchipper - March 9, 2010

HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
Give him a single, he would’ve been safe anyways
BigG1392 - March 9, 2010

Did they just boo Melky
UltimaParadox - March 9, 2010
phillies fans
dont like him
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Am I the only one who is ok with hot dogging it during ST??
Its ST — it doesnt count folks…
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
so
i guess we keep it minimal till opening day?
i disagree
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
yes
or at least wait until we’re close to opening day. The guys who dont have jobs should be killing it…but McLouth and Yunel need to take it easy.
If they hit a double or single — yeah, run hard. But a routine play to SS? Take it easy — these games DONT count.
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
Escobars hit was barely caught by Rollins not just a routine play to SS
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Nate's wasn't a routine play to SS, had he hustled he might could have beat it out.
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
..for what?
He could also have pulled a hamstring…
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
Maybe in practice, but Never during a game, imo
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
ST = practice
The games dont count!

Simplest way of doin this on MS Word is type “220f” and then Alt X.. this will insert Pi symbol on your screen. Hope this helped …..

bravesfan203 - March 9, 2010
anywhere the Braves play this year, there’s going to be a “Bobby Cox cam”
I can dig it. viva la bobby.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 9, 2010
eh
Im starting to like the idea of Heyward ahead of Escobar
that to me is something we will prob see all season if he is batting 7th. Stranded
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
bat him 2nd
he might score 150 runs
bighop - March 9, 2010
i said that
but ya know. too much pressure
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
other way around, Yunel gets stranded
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
We cool and all drum but......
No
Jay212033 - March 9, 2010
I'd rather anybody stranded except Heyward
Mighty Healthy - March 9, 2010
? What difference does it make?
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
No real difference
I’d just prefer Heyward more in the meat of the line-up
Mighty Healthy - March 9, 2010
Heyward with a rocket arm on a normal throw in. I like this
BigG1392 - March 9, 2010
sign of a fantastic baseball mind. Mind and an arm is scary
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010

kreese555 - March 9, 2010
sliding catch in LF thats the inning
bravesfan1047 - March 9, 2010
Chip
nice hit but caught
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Chipper flair to LF.. Francisco catches it, ends the inning
Mighty Healthy - March 9, 2010
that looked better than 7-U will reflect
mwchipper - March 9, 2010
Harold Reynolds actually got a lot smarter about baseball since he left BSPN
I really like watching MLBN.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
he wasnt bad on ESPN either
He was the best former player they had/have, imo
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
I like the Diamond Demo, but he regularly embarrasses himself in my opinion
mwchipper - March 9, 2010
EOF in, Thurston at 3rd
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
Infante at 2nd, Eric O'Flat in to pitch
bravesfan1047 - March 9, 2010
EOF in to pitch, Infante in at 3rd
Mighty Healthy - March 9, 2010
this is nice

drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Bocock singles
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
If Bocock actually turns out to be good...
he might warrant a nickname that is just way too easy. Any takers?
kreese555 - March 9, 2010
"Bocock"
lol
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
"Blowcock" seems to be the most obvious
kreese555 - March 9, 2010
HAHA!
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
they are hitting him hard
bighop - March 9, 2010
Thats what she said.

GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010

kreese555 - March 9, 2010

kreese555 - March 9, 2010

Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Nate makes the catch on a fly ball.
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
Rollins flys out to nate.
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
McLouth

drumzalicious - March 9, 2010

mwchipper - March 9, 2010
Just wanted to say that it's great to see the Braves on TV again...
This is the first game I’ve been able to watch in ST. Awesome.
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
Also...
Doesn’t Mike Morgan sound exactly like Bob Rathbun?
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
So that’s his name…
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
As long as it's not Joe Morgan, I think we should all count our blessings
kreese555 - March 9, 2010
Or Tim McCarver, but yes.
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
I think Buck has to be up there, especially because his dad was so good
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
Yeah, he's bad...
Though he doesn’t bother me as much as the other two.
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
When those 2 get together
i start to bleed from the ears
kreese555 - March 9, 2010
wait i'm thinking of Jon whatever his name is...his partner
kreese555 - March 9, 2010
Shane Victorino is a bitchhhhh
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Flying Hawaiian is the worst nickname IMO
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
i disagree...
Any of those Letter-Rod names are worse (A-Rod, K-Rod, F-Rod, etc.)
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
Those bother me
but for some reason I like I-Rod
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
Maybe you just like names that make you think of phalluses? Do you also like “Big Unit”?
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
haha. I happen to like “Big Unit”- One of those names that is so crazy that I just have to like it
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
singles
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
Ick
I hope Omar’s okay…
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010

Lizziebeth - March 9, 2010
Yeah, got up a little slow.
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
Nice play by Infante
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
Infante saves Thurston
and almost gets hurt in the process
mwchipper - March 9, 2010
what a play by INfante!!! whoa slide into second same time Victorino did gets up with a little limp hope he's good
bravesfan1047 - March 9, 2010
Lmao
Lets just close our eyes and pretend that that didnt happen.
And Omar looks PISSED
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Crap
I hope Infante is ok
CaptainRockSxD - March 9, 2010 via mobile
Thurston’s gonna kill Infante
bighop - March 9, 2010
more like the opposite
i dont think Infante was expecting that.
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Thurston probably should have gone to first on that..
BigG1392 - March 9, 2010
you’re absolutely right, Infante looked pissed
bighop - March 9, 2010
What the hell was Thurston doing there?
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Maybe he thought there was just one out? I don’t know tbh
BigG1392 - March 9, 2010
Maybe he needs to play 2B only…
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
in Gwinnett.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
I walked upstairs, what happened?
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
I asked, nobody’s telling.
Lizziebeth - March 9, 2010
scroll up
bravesfan1047 - March 9, 2010
Maybe its because you asked.
/sarcasm
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
oh, you know it!
Lizziebeth - March 9, 2010
Runners on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs. Easy grounder to Thurston at 3rd and he threw to 2B. Infante wasn’t really covering and had to dive into 2B to catch the ball and make the force play. Omar looked pissed and it looked like he got a little banged up.
Thurston should’ve just gone to 1B.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
thanks!
Lizziebeth - March 9, 2010
taking out a competitor so he can get the spot on the bench?
atl192485 - March 9, 2010
That doesn't look good for Infante
bravesforever16 - March 9, 2010
Baez still plays baseball?!?
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
Hey, it's Baez...
Otherwise known as the guy Ruben Amaro would rather have than Cliff Lee.
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
…there was something about the way mike morgan said glaus was ‘smokin hot’….
Doghnut - March 9, 2010
Yeah, that made me uncomfortable
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
My friend on Facebook just messaged me about that. hahah
BigG1392 - March 9, 2010
I understand why :)
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010

kreese555 - March 9, 2010

CaptainRockSxD - March 9, 2010 via mobile

mwchipper - March 9, 2010

atl192485 - March 9, 2010

carpengui - March 9, 2010

Mighty Healthy - March 9, 2010
Troy Gluas is so hot, someone asked him: “My Jason, aren’t you looking pale today”
GoBravesNY - March 9, 2010
Ha... Great minds.
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
the only thing that worries me about Glaus' streak
is that he seems to be smacking fastballs
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
Are we 100% sure that Troy Glaus isn’t just Jason Heyward in disguise?
Jacob Peterson - March 9, 2010
anyone else
know who else is pitching tonight?
drumzalicious - March 9, 2010
I hope Minor and/or Kimbrel.
Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
for the Braves who's left isnt much (aka no big name prospects or w/e)
bravesfan1047 - March 9, 2010

Scott Coleman - March 9, 2010
Why

Lennox - March 9, 2010
Yeah, I agree.
HEYJUDE - March 9, 2010
