The Braves take on the Astros once again today, and will hope to score a run this time. Here is today's batting lineup:
Nate McLouth, CF
Martin Prado, 2B
Melky Cabrera, RF
Troy Glaus, 1B
Brian McCann, C
Yunel Escobar, SS
Matt Diaz, LF
Brooks Conrad, 3B
Tommy Hanson, P
This will mark the first time this spring the team hasn't used a DH. Another big note in the lineup is the position of Brooks Conrad, who is playing third base for the first time this spring. His position flexibility will be key if he hopes to make the team. Also, no Jason Heyward for the first time this spring. I'm glad he's getting a day off.

Heyward is getting a normal day off.
Chipper is sitting out with a jammed thumb
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Heyward is looking pretty good, but the Mets prospects are really looking impressive. Ike Davis and Fernando Martinez.
tennesseejed - March 7, 2010
Im glad Heyward is getting the day off, but it means I’m not super pumped for the game, im just indifferent now.
Don Draper - March 7, 2010
I know its spring training
but come on Melky in the 3-hole, ugh
UltimaParadox - March 7, 2010
Didn't see your comment but we're thinking alike.
Jay212033 - March 7, 2010
I know it scary
I hope we never see this lineup in the regular season
UltimaParadox - March 7, 2010
Melky batting 3rd means you know it ST!
Jay212033 - March 7, 2010
Who's pitching today besides Tommy Boy?
Scott Coleman - March 7, 2010 via mobile
All it says on DOB’s blog is Hanson is starting
eaheckman10 - March 7, 2010
Does anyone else think
Manny Acosta passed Chavez on the depth chart
bravesforever16 - March 7, 2010 via mobile
Not yet
But if Chavez keeps getting rocked then Manny could easily pass him.
Chavez and Acosta are basically the same pitcher; great stuff but both just throw and not pitch. Chavez started to figure it out last year, but Manny could at any moment.
Scott Coleman - March 7, 2010 via mobile
Regardless,
we’ll see Manny at some point this year… though not the whole year. Manny is Manny.
Jacob Peterson - March 7, 2010
sad, the one day I get to be off during a game no Heyward. Oh well back to The Show.
yondaime4 - March 7, 2010
Are you doing a RTTS?
My batter freaking sucks. I had to turn batting down to veteran from all-star. My pitcher, on the other hand, is pretty good. Made it to the majors in 2011’s september call-ups. I got rocked though. I need to upgrade my control. I’m on the 40-man and got a ST invite. Not sure if I will make the team yet.
BullManUGA - March 7, 2010
I created a SS last night. I set myself up to get drafted and the Twins pick me up. Hopefully I can get the call up eventually and get to play in their new stadium. I played the first few weeks of the season last night…I’m still a spot starter, but am batting .333 with 1 double. I’ve hit a few hard shots to the wall.
I’ve had it turn on where I’ve watched every single outcome pitch. So ti’s taking like 30 minutes to play a game. I think tonight I’ll turn that off so I can crank through some games. It is cool though…bcecause the 1 double I had was a leadoff double and we ended up scoring 5 runs that inning. I felt like I started that rally.
dunnytwogloves - March 8, 2010
Anyone have a radio link like yesterday?
pancanbra - March 7, 2010
No link but it's on 680 the fan in ATL.
Jay212033 - March 7, 2010
anyone heard a nickname for troy glaus yet? i guess bobby would call him “glossy”
Bravely going forward - March 7, 2010
We’re going to loose
GoBravesNY - March 7, 2010
I am pretty sure that they’ve already stretched, so they should be pretty loose already.
Jacob Peterson - March 7, 2010
even worse-
GoBravesNY - March 7, 2010
haha….classic…
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Maybe Bobby saw my article about Tommy's crappy hitting...
and that’s why he’s batting today instead of a DH. It’s not a big deal that he can’t hit, but if we can get him to just not be terrible, it might help us pick up a few runs. Hopefully getting some ST ABs (whoa… STABs! I am so using that acronym from now on) will help him get comfortable.
Jacob Peterson - March 7, 2010
McCann RBI single makes it 1-0
wooooo offense!
atl192485 - March 7, 2010
nice
Bravely going forward - March 7, 2010
Having big issues w/ TC site…
Lizziebeth - March 7, 2010
Hanson walked one, and that runner scored. 1-1
Anyone wanna fill me on what Diaz was trying to do stealing home? Did he just get picked off? Mobile just says he was caught trying to steal home. lol
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
hanson was up. bobby called a squeeze but hanson didn’t get the sign
atl192485 - March 7, 2010
Ah ok. That makes more sense
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Glad to hear. Didn’t want 3rd to become a bad luck area for MattE.
Lizziebeth - March 7, 2010

BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Peter Moylan gets em 1-2-3 in the fourth.
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Glaus
is 3 for 3 with a double, nice!
atl192485 - March 7, 2010
I have a major crush on him :)
HEYJUDE - March 7, 2010
People seem to bash Glaus harder than most because he’s coming back from an injury. I don’t understand it. This guy could HIT when he was healthy – there’s absolutely no reason to think he won’t gain his previous form back.
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Yep, he's been very impressive thus far.
I love that he will take a walk before he will swing at crap. I hope this rubs off on some of “our regulars”.
HEYJUDE - March 7, 2010
Exactly. With Chipper and Glaus’ patience at the plate… Escobar, McCann, and Heyward should be getting plenty of chances to drive in runs.
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Best pick up in the off season, imo
HEYJUDE - March 7, 2010
great recaps please keep them coming and i bet my buddy glaus hits 22+ hrs this season so I hope this is a sign of what is coming
TomGarrett - March 7, 2010

lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
I’ve been lurking for updates, just haven’t had much to say. I’m waiting on a fantasy draft in about a half hour.
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
Heyward #1 pick
Scott Coleman - March 7, 2010 via mobile
He’s on my list, but not number one. NL-only league, so I’m thinking I gotta take one of the sure things like a Braun or an Utley early on.
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
Bottom Of The Fifth - ATL

lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Yeah np. Just sitting here attempting to study for a physics test… this at least keeps me entertained :P
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Physics
was nearly the death of me in high school. I wouldn’t wish that junk on my enemies…
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
yeah…i took physics in HS…..needless to say i don’t remember any of it….
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
I’m usually pretty dead on with academics, have never had under an A- in a class… until Physics came along.
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
This is the sum total of my physics knowledge: A physics question will present you with 2 pieces of information which you, by crossing 37.5 formulas in, through, around, and over each other are expected to use to come up with 47,000 other pieces of information. With correct sig-figs.
Blech.
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
even that was over my head..
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
You weigh 175 lbs sitting on the top of a hill. If you roll down and go 400 feet, find:
initial elevation
downward slope of hill
upward slope at bottom of hill that you ramp off of
Escape velocity (how fast you’re going off the ramp)
highest elevation gained before gravity causes you to begin falling again
How many feet horizontally traveled before acheiving the apex of your flight
How long it takes to go ^that distance
How many band-aids you’ll need after hitting the ground again.
Basic physics question. And if you had a teacher like mine, this would be one of TWO questions on a test, and thus worth 50 points. Needless to say there were way more than our fair share of F’s in that class…
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
damn…its things like this that tell me my shatty AA degree is good enough…lol..
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
I’m with ya. I took the one class in high school and now I’m majoring in Poli Sci and taking MAT 107- Math for the liberal arts. I know there are some people that are just cut out to be able to crunch numbers like that, but i sure as hell ain’t one of ’em.
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
Either that, or they’ll make one problem worth a lot and the rest nothing. I still don’t get how getting 7 out of 8 problems right on my last test was worth a 70%.
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
ur teacher could probably explain why in a physiological way….
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Parr gets them 1-2-3 in the top of the Sixth
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
is glaus 4-4?
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
3-3, Freeman is in for him now. Hitting .571 so far this spring.
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
always liked FF….ever since i saw him take one high and inside deep over the RF wall…..for some reason it reminded of chip once upon a time….
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Bottom Of The Sixth - ATL
Brent Clevlen flies out
Brooks Conrad singles
Gregor Blanco pops out
Freddie Freeman ground-rule doubles, Conrad to 3rd

BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
man, conrad’s having a great spring so far. here’s to hoping the keeps it up.
Bravely going forward - March 7, 2010
*he
Bravely going forward - March 7, 2010
is it too early to say that Conrad breaks camp?
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Maybe a little
But not too early to hope. He seems like a better option that Thurston to me, but we all know how Bobby gives the vets points for being vets, so Conrad needs to keep it up.
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
even last year when he ripped it up i was hoping he would stay up…
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
He should have stayed up. There was no reason to send him down with the way Norton was playing
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Bobby-vision
Norton=vet
Conrad=ROOK BOO!!!!
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
i swear nortons nickname should have been HWSNBN….instead of failcouer…..maybe not….
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Freddie Freeman has surely surprised me this spring. I knew he was good, but he’s solidifying why many scouts called him 1B to Heyward’s 1A as our top prospect. If Glaus has a comeback year and is deserving of a contract, we may have a nice problem on our hands come 2011.
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
Nah
If he does, he’ll go somewhere for much bigger bucks than we care to offer and the Freeman era will begin. I don’t think it’ll end up being much of an issue.
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
maybe he’ll go back to 3rd if chip has another down year…..heres hoping that he hits .364 again…
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
I'll second that
Just had to take Chipper in my fantasy draft. Nothing left at the position but him and dregs.
J-Freak - March 7, 2010
our guys have the best names i swear….lol….freddie, brooks, etc.
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Lyman gives up 3 singles in the top of the 7th but works out of it with no runs.

It’s obvious who the Player Of The Game is though, I would think
BigG1392 - March 7, 2010
not as obvious for me….reading, i’ve just had updates from this thread…lol….
Glaus?
lemke2blauser2bream - March 7, 2010
Yup, I think the honors go to him. Freeman had a good game too.
