From a Mark Bowman Tweet:
Morton hit Heyward with an offspeed pitch. Early indication is that the baseball survived the impact.
Classic. Other than the hit-by-pitch, Heyward was 0-for-2 on the day, a grounder to third and a pop fly to short. So he's mortal after all...

It was probably Heyward’s force of gravity that pulled the ball into a collision course.
FineHamAbounds - March 4, 2010
exactly……its not fair that he has to hit balls extra hard to get them out of his own gravitational pull…

obligatory jab at Frenchy post:
the pitch that hit Heyward was the exact same pitch Francoeur would’ve struck out on … offspeed and in the left-handed hitter’s box
RehabReject - March 4, 2010
Or at least jumped out of the way of….can’t have those HBPs screwing with his OBP. Lower OBP is better, right? Actually, it doesn’t matter. If it were important, they’d display it on the score board.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - March 4, 2010
The pitch that hits Heyward will hit the pinstripes he’ll be wearing in a few years.
bravos1984 - March 4, 2010
hmm..
lemke2blauser2bream - March 4, 2010
It’s a joke. A reference to Frenchy’s comment about Hanson and pinstripes
bravos1984 - March 4, 2010
SEND HIM TO ROME!
He didn’t get hit everytime up???? What a joke of a player…. jk, J hey is the man. I get pumped even when he draws a walk.
BravesFanScout - March 4, 2010
I’ve said it a million times, but this kid gets me so excited
eaheckman10 - March 4, 2010

brave grande - March 4, 2010
I saw this in the Yahoo Sports writeup of today’s ST game:
I’ll let the ‘wrong first name’ thing slide for the time being. I was just curious if the second part of that statement is accurate. Has Heyward literally not missed the ball on any of his swings?
kidnarcolepsy - March 4, 2010
nope. he’s either put it in play or fouled it off.
Scott Coleman - March 4, 2010
Wow. Just… wow.
kidnarcolepsy - March 4, 2010
What if its a repeat offense on the same website? From the photo section of the Braves Yahoo page:
10-4 - March 4, 2010
Was the photo from the Associated Press
They got his name wrong in the photo of his catch in right field yesterday. Also was Justin….
cesarhernandez - March 4, 2010
This Jack Heyward should be a helluva ballplayer.
get swoll yunel - March 4, 2010
They were making fun of the newsblast guy on 680
Because he mentioned that Jason Howard would be hitting second in the Braves’ line-up today.
Bronn - March 4, 2010
It’s great to see Yahoo! heaping all of that praise on Jasper Heyward
GeneParmesan - March 4, 2010
If anyone is worthy of the praise, its Jermaine Haygood.
10-4 - March 5, 2010
Jacob Heygood
Been calling him that for weeks, it always makes me laugh. Kinda like that Mark Stanford guy from UGA.
someguy1 - March 5, 2010
Don't get me wrong...
I can’t wait to see Jason Heyward succeed at the MLB level and I have high hopes for him. BUT, do we really have to read into every fucking thing he does? “Heyward went 0-2, Hes mortal” seriously, just chill out. Everyone should just let Heyward do him in Spring Training and be our starting RF. But really, all of this hype is kinda annoying.
nick9314 - March 4, 2010
We're talking about a guy
With hall of fame potential so….well, well what do you expect?
REG233710 - March 5, 2010
how´s the remains of the ball doin´ ?? anybody ?????’……..
brave grande - March 4, 2010
Nick9314...
If hype annoys you… then don’t bother reading baseball blogs. Fans seem to get, well … fanatical, about their team and players.
Sorry that we’re annoying you… Hey guys, lets not get excited about the #1 prospect in baseball, okay?
J/k Nick, well kind of…
JonathanC - March 4, 2010
I'm freaking hyped!
If this kid doesn’t make you stay awake at night thinking about this season you’re dead!
I get pumped just thinking about the possibilities…

Andy Behrens, a Yahoo! Fantasy person
That made me lol
GoBravesNY - March 4, 2010
holy $#!%
can’t wait!!
RehabReject - March 4, 2010
What is the date that they can promote him and avoid the super-two? I could live with Diaz in RF for a month.
TradeAndruw - March 5, 2010
there was an interesting article sayign if we keep him down for 2 weeks we would get one extra year of Heyward . He would still be a Super Two, but based on service time we would get one more year if we keep him down for two weeks.
Here is the article from Rob Neyer
http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/2606/should-braves-keep-heyward-in-holding-pattern
but to avoid Super Two, he would probably have to wait until June sometime, which is two months and thats a long time, to keep him down IF he is ready
