The Braves meet the Astros for the final time this spring. They next see Houston a month from yesterday for a 3-game series at the Ted. Here is today's lineup:
Melky Cabrera, CF
Jason Heyward, RF
Chipper Jones, 3B
Troy Glaus, 1B
Brian McCann, C
Yunel Escobar, SS
Matt Diaz, LF
Omar Infante, 2B
Derek Lowe, P
Following Lowe will be Peter Moylan, Jesse Chavez, Eric O'Flaherty, and Jonny Venters. Four relievers, I guess that means Lowe will only go five innings.

CSS shows a replay at 7pm
that’s why I’m not following the game today.
nathan rothschild - March 31, 2010
This would be my opening day lineup but Nate 7 and Prado 8.
graf - March 31, 2010
Updated lineup:
Prado is in there for Chipper because of an ingrown toenail or something. DOB said Chip would be playing tho if the game counted.
Scott Coleman - March 31, 2010 via mobile
those
are torture
nathan rothschild - March 31, 2010
J-Hey in the 2-slot?
Interesting….I thought he was supposed to be 6 or 7, partly for his own sake and partly to anchor the lower part of the order…..
skymuse - March 31, 2010
I think he’ll excel in the 2 as well…I think when Prado is not in there Bobby will put him in the 2 and use his patience at the plate and ability to put the ball in play.
Dave_D - March 31, 2010
Dang, I thought this game was on TV. I don’t see a link on MLB.TV yet for it…guess I won’t be watching.
Dave_D - March 31, 2010

That’s an incedible line up for today’s game. Is anybody worried about our offense when those come back to earth? Or is it just a sign that the Braves are plenty capable offensively?
bighop - March 31, 2010
I think it shows that we’re capable of, expecially when facing sub par pitching.

Thanks
We’ll get them back and more!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Come on TG!!!
vooodooo - March 31, 2010
Pitcher said to have ‘control issues.’
That would be a Resistable force vs. moveable object… a Patient lineup vs. a wild man.
Strike one to Odarp.
SINGLE to RF
BASES LOADED – NONE OUT. Glaus up.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Ball.
Foul tip strike.
Strike two swinging.

Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
All season
I know, I’m not asking for much but….
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Yunel…. it’s a quick one today, eh?
carpengui - March 31, 2010
We already got those 3 runs back,
love it!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Ball one. Not much has really been hit hard… but it’s working.
Bouncer to short. Easy out as Esco wasn’t busted it down the line.
Glaus on second; TWO DOWN.
Diaz….
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Yunel rolls over too many pitches that are grounds outs to the SS IMHO. That’s the only thing that bothers me about him…I feel he needs to drive the ball more to the opposite field which is what he does when he’s going good.
Dave_D - March 31, 2010
BMAC is doing great this summer… i think he’ll like the spot in the order behind Chipper and Glaus
Sean Lavery - March 31, 2010
this spring i mean
Sean Lavery - March 31, 2010
These guys can score runs, I really like Heyward in the 2 spot
bighop - March 31, 2010
Manny Acosta with the mets Yesss!!!
That a boy - March 31, 2010
And as for Lowe, I am not too worried; Halladay is getting beat down worse in his final spring start (for Halladay, 3 doubles, a homer and a single in the first led to 4 runs).
cavebird - March 31, 2010
Plus, we got some O this year to help our pitchers out with run support.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Strike. Curve inside… Ball.
2-1. Typical Diaz swing (not cheated) for strike two.
Curve… ball inside. Full count.
SWING/MISS. THREE DOWN.
3 runs; 3 hits. 1 left. 3-3 after one.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Astros start with the Giants next week; Braves get them second in the regular season after the Cubs.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
(The GIants, that is)
carpengui - March 31, 2010
carpengui - March 31, 2010
I really like this :)
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Me too
bighop - March 31, 2010
Chris Shelton. Just lowe, ball one.
Ball outside… 2-0.
Rocketed…. to Heyward on the track ran down for out 1!
carpengui - March 31, 2010
I hope he didn’t hurt his shin splints to run that one down!
Dave_D - March 31, 2010
So why isn’t Heyward already wearing #22?
Did they not bring that jersey down from Atlanta?
Dave_D - March 31, 2010
I have no idea...
…but my guess is that he keeps his ST number for spring training and then will be wearing 22 for the exhibition games in Atlanta this weekend.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
Announcers expected extra bases.
Keppinger. Ball one. Strike one.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Heyward showed some range on that catch, it looked like it could get past him
bighop - March 31, 2010
3-1 count now….Full count… WALK with 1 out.
Lowe is 141-117 lifetime.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
well at least lowe isn’t all sweaty yet. that’s when i get worried.
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
Yeah :)
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Lowe is 6-6, 230… not exactly a small guy.
Catcher Quintero is up.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
In my family he would be considered, a Giant, no pun intended.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
1-1. Keppinger was running; ball was fouled off.
Another foul.
Fastball outside, 2-2.
SWING/MISS. STRIKEOUT. 2 down.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Michael Bourne/top order.
Strike one on a ‘slow curve’.
fouled into 3B seats.
Inside corner. CALLED 3rd STRIKE. END HALF INNING.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Lowe looked good,,,,,
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Somebody else can provide Summary/‘Color’!
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Is Lowe only going 2 innings today?
eaheckman10 - March 31, 2010
using the DH
bighop - March 31, 2010
No I got that, I thought I read somewhere that he was only throwing 2
eaheckman10 - March 31, 2010
That’s probably the plan for Openeing Day >.<
Bronn - March 31, 2010
I'm thinking he will go at least 4.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
BOTTOM 2nd; 3-3
Eighth place hitter Infante, then Hinske and Melky.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Ball to Infante. Hitting .396.
Hit well to center…. Caught on the track for out 1.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Hinske. Popped up to batters box. Out 2. Catcher got it.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Even in spring games
With a DH and two bench players starting, there are no holes in this line-up.
Bronn - March 31, 2010
Melky. Strike one. Fouled back.
Shattered bat fly out to Sullivan (wherever he plays).
END OF INNING.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
The flyout was to left.
Dave_D - March 31, 2010
Just turned on the game… Lowe getting roughed up pretty bad?
BigG1392 - March 31, 2010
Not really,
a walk and 2 run hr in the first.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Not great, not awful, 1st 2 walks of the year and a homer
bighop - March 31, 2010
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Matsui to start. Lowe settled down in second after getting most of his 1st inning strikes hit hard.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Nice slider there
eaheckman10 - March 31, 2010
Strike 1. Strike 2. This is better.
Strike 3 swinging. OUT ONE.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
3 k's for Lowe
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
I have a feeling Pence is gonna have a big year. I should have taken him in my fantasy league.
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
Ball one to PENCE. Ball, Strike. 2-1.
Check-swing foul tip. 2-2.
Slapped to R side of mound. Lowe to Glaus. TWO OUT.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Feliz. Strike 1.
He doubled the first time.
Tapped to 3 rd baseline.
Infante could not get him out. Single.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Should have been out of the inning, high throw to first.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Chris Johnson.
Homered last time up.
Strike swinging. HBP.
Two on – two out.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Corey Sullivan, LFer.
Ball, low/outside.
Way high/outside, ball two.
strike – swinging.
Rolled to Esco — FC to second to END the HALF INNING.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
No harm done, out of the third, no runs given up.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Quite a few ground balls, Lowe looking a little better
bighop - March 31, 2010
BOTTOM OF THIRD; 3-3.
Heyward, Prado, Glaus, McCann in the hole.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
That cannot be fun to face!
bighop - March 31, 2010
After this half inning, I gotta go warm up my lunch!
carpengui - March 31, 2010
did they just say the Central will be better than the west? ehhh. The Central to me is the worst division in the NL.
Windu - March 31, 2010
Not a chance after St. Louis and MAYBE the Cubs.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
heyward singles
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
A
Heyward with a nice poke up the middle
eaheckman10 - March 31, 2010
HEYWARD – Ball one… Swinging foul back to the screen.
Repeat for strike two.
LINER up middle – SINGLE.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Heyward's...
…first hit of the spring against a lefty. Yeah! Now the quick splits won’t show that damn .000 any more.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
I like this ABC baseball as Prado singles
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
PRADO: Strike 1. Lined to Right(?) for SINGLE.
“Two on for Glaus”…. I really like that phrase for this year.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Me too
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Only if Glaus can deliver
Jay212033 - March 31, 2010
he's been doing so in ST.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Key words though "Spring Training"
I really hope this carries over into the regular season as well.
Jay212033 - March 31, 2010
GLAUS: Big cut and miss – 0-1. Wants that homer back from yesterday.
Ball one.
carpengui - March 31, 2010

This team scores runs!
bighop - March 31, 2010
We are So good!!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
how much of this success do ya’ll think we can attribute to wandy’s head not being in the game?
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
Quite a bit
bighop - March 31, 2010
see, that’s what i’m thinking
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
Not much, we've been blistering the ball all Spring
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
yeah we really have
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
I'm sure it's in the back of his mind,
or I would hope so, exciting time!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
plus
we always do better vs. LHP starters
atl192485 - March 31, 2010
Visit to mound. Apparently this guy was only going 2 innings today, but changed to 3, I guess. He’s gonna be a Dad again tomorrow.
ESCOBAR: almost hit him. High. Ball two…. Ripped to Left. SINGLE.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Your not going to get to your lunch huh lol!
Jay212033 - March 31, 2010
I hope it's a a lot later, lol
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
The line may be “faced x batters in 3rd.”
Diaz fakes bunt for strike 1. Shallow center… short hopped.
Bourne throws out McCann on force at third as Heap is hung out to dry.
One out.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Infante walks on four straight
joshmaurer - March 31, 2010
INFANTE: Two on, 1 out.
Ball low. Ball two. Ball three.
(FC for Diaz; should have been single, but McCann had to hold up).
Stomach rumbling…!
WALK to INFANTE – LOADED UP.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
HINSKE. Ball one. Gotta be last batter for Rodriguez.
Strike/missed.
1-1 ripped down the RF corner.
BASES CLEARED. NINE to THREE.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
holy hell; these guys are hitting today. Kinda pissed I drafted Wandy last weekend…
joshmaurer - March 31, 2010
3 run double, Yes
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
See ya, Wandy… was pitching on short rest due to the birth tomorrow.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Yep, Congrats to Wandy and family!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
awwww cmon guys
save it for the season!
atl192485 - March 31, 2010
I kinda like them getting used to raking
bighop - March 31, 2010
this
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
9-3, I can live with that :)
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
I think this was a “low-hanging fruit” kinda day. Oswalt was pitching in the minor league game.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
that makes sense
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
Peeps, not getting to watch this game,
are missing a great one. It feels like BP for our Braves!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Majesky (?) in to pitch.
MELKY with Hinske on second, I believe. Still one out.
Ball one.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Eighteen batters faced with a 1-2-3 inning in between. Oy.
Grounded to short – TWO DOWN.
HEYWARD UP with HInske still at second.
Ball one.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
This inning has given me a lot of hope regarding our offense this season. They’ve scored 6 runs while batting around.
FineHamAbounds - March 31, 2010
Thankfully nobody hit a homerun to ruin this rally.
dunnytwogloves - March 31, 2010
Heyward almost did just now, opposite field. That ball went a LONG way for one that looked like it was just slapped and fought off.
FineHamAbounds - March 31, 2010
Swing/Miss. 1-1.
Apparently the Heyward Netting was not erected.
Stroke deep to left…. Chased down for third out.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Lunch time!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Sullivan make a good catch, to end the rally
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
(Yes, for the record, I am prepared for double-digits). Back in a few…
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Shovel it in Carpengui, chew fast!
bighop - March 31, 2010

Mr. Sanchez - March 31, 2010
It’s probably Jeffrey.
BigG1392 - March 31, 2010
Oh lord...
…with the NY tabloids always fishing, I imagine they should just give FYF a jersey with the name “Anonymous Met” across the back.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
chris shelton
THAT chris shelton???
atl192485 - March 31, 2010
2 outs , runner on first, now single , runners on 1st and 2nd.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
“catcher in front of him”, should have been a double. That’s why I like Heyward at the 2 spot instead of 7th, potentially following McCann on the bases
bighop - March 31, 2010
Question
hey guys and gals. i live in canada and its hard to get the baseball. does anyone know where i can get the braves on radio online for free? is there a site that broadcasts all the games? and help is appreciated. Also can we get more information on our pitchers this year please.
David G. Little - March 31, 2010
Google “Braves Radio Netwrok Affiliates” – that provides a list of stations available, some of which are streamed online (I suggest Fountain Inn, South Carolina – most offten available of the group).
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Slow roller, bases juiced 2 out
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Crazy play – ball dies in front of Lowe and Joe West ON the chalk line. Bases Loaded.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
yes it was, kinda funny with our lead, but otherwise, I would not be laughing.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Lowe should have gotton on his knees...
…Lenny Randle style and blown it foul.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
END HALF INNING. Bases left loaded. I’ve had one bite so far.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
With Chavez coming in later,
a few more runs would be nice….
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
LOL
skymuse - March 31, 2010
BOTTOM FOURTH; 9-3.
Prado, Glaus, McCann scheduled. Unless the schedule gets changed, but I doubt it yet.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Majesky back out.
Joe West seems to be feeling better after that game Boog called.
Strike 1… 2…
Bouncer to first.. grabbed… tag out of Prado. ONE OUT.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Glaus had better keep LaGrange as his AB music during the season. Only makes me like him more.
FineHamAbounds - March 31, 2010
GLAUS: lined over second for another hit!
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Freddie takes Glaus’ place on the bases.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Glaus now 3 for 3.
Gotta love what you see from him thus far.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Ball 1… 2… to Big Mac.
Strike 1. Ball 3.
BALL FOUR. MAC WALKS… replaced by J.C. Boscan(?)… wearing #22, they say. Huh.
ESCO. Ball one. Hitting .302.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
GIDP to Third. END OF INNING.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Esco hits into so many double plays, I hope he runs them out once the season starts.
bighop - March 31, 2010
My opinion… GIDP’s should count double against your batting average.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
I’d be on board with that
Skyagusta - March 31, 2010
CHAVEZ now in.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Per MLB Box Score, Young is in for Melky as well. I wonder if Heyward is out yet; with the shin splints I can’t imagine he stays in much longer. On the other hand, maybe they want him to get the AB’s.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
Looks like they are trying to give the Astros a few extra runs for free.
sleezer1788 - March 31, 2010
Streaming audio link?
Anyone have a link to the radio broadcast?
eavchuck - March 31, 2010
Thurston now playing 3rd;
Freeman at First.
Hicks at short.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
That makes the first six in the lineup all out except Heyward, if Heyward is still in there. Maybe they do want to give him the at-bats or at least one more.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
Pedro Feliz.
First pitch hit to center for an easy out.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Strike one to Chris Johnson (homer/HBP today).
Ball. Ball.
Hit high to RF. Heyward (they say) catches it for OUT 2.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
If they are at the game, it would be hard to mistake someone else for Heyward.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
Except maybe Greg Odin
eavchuck - March 31, 2010
*Greg Oden.. he's not Nordic fool lol
Mighty Healthy - March 31, 2010
Really – though the Astros guys missed a couple other changes, and I agree with your thoughts about how long to keep JH in.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Strike 1 to Sullivan.
Boscann catching. Ball.
Ball 2.
Strike two on the corner.
Full count…. two fouls.
Swung… to third behind bag. Thurston does not get him. Runner on first.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Nice pick by Freddie
BigG1392 - March 31, 2010
Come on Chavez…
BigG1392 - March 31, 2010
SHELTON (0-2). Corner for strike 1.
1-1. 2-1 outside 94mph fastball.
Ball 3 low.
Swing/Miss – Full count.
BALL FOUR as runner went. TWO ON, TWO OUT.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Does Chavez have a strikeout this spring?
Jay212033 - March 31, 2010
Infield hit, then a walk, Chavez needs the 3rd out
bighop - March 31, 2010
KEPPINGER.
Swing/Foul back.
Looked good to the radio guys, but Ball one.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Ball high: 2-1.
Fastball outside – ball three.
Here we go… fouled back. Full count again.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Runners go… fouled again.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
vooodooo - March 31, 2010
STRIKE THREE on awkward swing.
END of HALF INNING.
No runs, 1 BB, 1K, 1 hit, two left.
Now that’s a K.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Pretty scary inning, but he got the K to end it with no runs scored
bighop - March 31, 2010
BOTTOM FIFTH; 9-3 good guys.
Moeller pitching.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
DIAZ (0-2): First pitch fouled off.
Ball.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Tapped to mound. 1-3 putout. ONE OUT.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
matty d
wasnt credited with a hit on that play where mccann was out at 3rd??
atl192485 - March 31, 2010
Fielder’s Choice.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Prank day in the Braves clubhouse.
Eddie Perez the victim.
Grounder to short gets Infante. TWO DOWN.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
The prank was three baby pigs let loose in the clubhouse while Eddie was in the shower. Apparently others were more effected than Eddie!
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Hil-a-rious!
Thanks for the info!
Lizziebeth - March 31, 2010
Ball two to Hinske.
Lazy high fly to center. END OF INNING.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
carpengui - March 31, 2010
EOF now pitching for Bravos.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Catcher up — Hicks grabs a grounder and throws him out. ONE DOWN.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
BOURNE: Ball one.
Bunt single – perfectly placed. Infield Single.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Concepcion Rodriguez now in Left.
Brooks Conrad in at short, I think (Hicks to 2nd). Or maybe reversed (likely).
The Astros announcers are confused.
Heyward is still in.
MATSUI up. Austin running for Bourne.
1-1
carpengui - March 31, 2010
2-2.
Ten hits for the Braves; Eight for the Astros. Er… Nine now.
Runners first and second.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
IN OTHER NEWS…
Denard Spann drilled his Mother in the stands with a foul ball today… went into the stands to attend to her (taken to hospital as precaution, I believe)
carpengui - March 31, 2010
What are the chances?
bighop - March 31, 2010
Ouch, bittersweet
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
I saw that happen on ESPN. Makes for an awkward Easter brunch.
TheLetter2 - March 31, 2010
I’m thinkin’ take-out.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Funny
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Wow.
Lizziebeth - March 31, 2010
2-2 pitch to somebody.
Single to LF gets by Hicks. Austin SCORES. 9-4
carpengui - March 31, 2010
I like this team a lot. good, smart and patience hitters. Best starting pitching in the NL and the best rabid fans. 2010 is tomahawk year baby! Thanks for the almost play by play. Nice way to enjoy a boring day at work. Keep it up!
wisco - March 31, 2010
First run surrendered by EOF this Spring.
2-0 pitch… foul tip, 2-1.
Two runners on… one out.
Warning track out to center. TWO DOWN. Runners do NOT advance.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Sorry, I’m getting sloppy… ’Stros announcers are losing interest and taking me with them.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
This is unusual for EOF, could he be experimenting with some pitches, with the big lead?
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Might just be because of the big lead. It’s a different feel
bighop - March 31, 2010
Now 9-5
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
2-0 to somebody. (Chris Johnson).
Drilled to center – a hit.
MYERS SCORES.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Corey Sullivan: Ball. Ball, 2-0.
Tapped to Second. Conrad to Freeman: OUT THREE.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Inning finally ends
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
heyward on , unusual play
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Ump yelling at the pitcher, pretty unusual
bighop - March 31, 2010
West, telling him to move it along, he was taking forever between pitches.
It was funny, Joe West is something else….
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
BOTTOM SIXTH; Atlanta leads 9-5
Braves have 10 hits; Astros have either ten or eleven now.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
11 I think
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
I had to take a call… Some brave wearing #99 is on second base.
Prado is thrown out.
Freeman up.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
thank you forthe play by play carpengui...
ryan c - March 31, 2010
What happened with Heyward?
Jay212033 - March 31, 2010
Got on because of error, pinch runner came in that made it to 3rd b4 inning ended.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Moeller was taking forever between pitches, West started yelling at him to pitch already. Heyward hit the ball to 1st base, bad throw over the pitchers head, into the dugout, Heyward out of the game pinch runner on 2nd
bighop - March 31, 2010
Thanks Guys and Gals
Jay212033 - March 31, 2010
Did someone yell at Heyward
I’ll kill a bitch
dutchschultz - March 31, 2010
Nope, no way, someone would be that stupid :)
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Bouncer to second gets Freeman. Runner on second (reputed to be ‘Ralph Garr’, according to the radio guys) is stranded.
You’re most welcome – my pleasure.
I missed Heyward’s AB… he was pinch run go, apparently.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
KIMBREL IN. One out on grounder.

Still 9-5.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
A grounder?
And amazingly a Kimbrel at bat doesn’t end with a walk or K, unheard of!
Mr. Sanchez - March 31, 2010
Keppinger up.
1-1. 1-2 check swing makes for a STRIKEOUT. Two Down.
Good control so far!
carpengui - March 31, 2010
2 quick out s for Kimbrel
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Jordan says "he will be up very soon",
don’t know if this is official or just a god guess.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
good
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
2-0 now that I said something… 2-1, 2-2. That’s better.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
heyjude, thanks also for the commentary.
ryan c - March 31, 2010
You are welcome,
thx for looking over all my grammar mistakes :)
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Full count… SWINGING K. END of HALF INNING.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
STRETCH TIME
carpengui - March 31, 2010
KIMBREL!!!
Jay212033 - March 31, 2010
BOTTOM SEVENTH - Atl leads 9-5
No scoring since Rodriguez left in the third.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Kimbrel looks pretty SICK!
deewill23 - March 31, 2010
Yup, he does...
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Hanson, Jurrjens, Kimbrel, Gearrin, Teheran, Vizcaino, Medlen, etc are going to make playing the Braves a chore for years to come.
bighop - March 31, 2010
I agree,
gotta love our pitching depth, especially in the near future.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
yea are starting pitching and relief depth in the minors is crazy good
Braves24 - March 31, 2010
Grounder – one out.
I dunno who’s pitching for the Astros now.
Escobar claimed to hit a soft pop-out to the outfield. That’s more likely Hicks, I guess.
TWO OUTS quickly.
Gotta take a call.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Yes, Hicks
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
what did hicks do?
ryan c - March 31, 2010
Just answering cars/ ?, if Hicks for in for Esco.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Geez, what a mess with my words, duh
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Multi-tasking is not my virtue:(
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Inning over
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
hehe
ryan c - March 31, 2010
I know I'm late to the party today
But i’m kinda liking the idea of Heyward hitting #2 more and more.
Scott Coleman - March 31, 2010 via mobile
I agree
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Prado is great, but I think Heyward is better. I want his OB% and speed with Chipper, Glaus and McCann coming up.
bighop - March 31, 2010
(But I’m on the sidelines, guys; sorry!)
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Moylan in
and gives up a single to Austin
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
DP, 2 outs
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Per MLB, pinch-runner for Heyward was Willie Cabrera (?) and new Astros pitcher is Sampson.
cavebird - March 31, 2010
Thx
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
inning over , mid way through the 8th
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Gervacio in to pitch for stros
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
What a delivery!
bighop - March 31, 2010
Stupid looking, geez
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Gonzo ain’t got nothing on this cat
bighop - March 31, 2010
Almost but not quite as entertaining as Mike Gonzalez
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
never ever seen anything like it in my life
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
i think this is much, much weirder
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
Can someone describe this delivery for those of us stuck at work? Thx!
skymuse - March 31, 2010
Idk, I'm left speechless
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
I don’t think I can, he rocks, faux wind up, holds the ball out to the side like peek-a-boo, then just wails, it’s hilarious
bighop - March 31, 2010
that was actually a pretty awesome description! haha
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
it took all I had
bighop - March 31, 2010
just found this. it’s really poor quality but you can see.
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
oops, here it is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzAFgRzeU08
Bravely going forward - March 31, 2010
hahaha
wtf?! it’s like his dog is at 3rd and he’s showing him the ball. “Here it is! Here it is!” and then he pitches and yells “Go get it!”
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
Exactly, good description
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Wow....thx for the video
seriously, y’all, I grew up in KS watching the Royals’ Dan Quisenberry, this cat ain’t even close to the sidearm whip.
I loved the peekaboo/wails description!
skymuse - March 31, 2010
Kreese’ playing ball with the dog was pretty damn good too
bighop - March 31, 2010
yeah, def.
Lizziebeth - March 31, 2010
MLB network has this game on at 8 CT tonight
I’m guessing that’s a replay?
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
Thuston knocked in Young
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
10-5 Freeman up
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
That called a balk on him!!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Not allowing him to do it anymore, 2nd base Ump, said he was balking, lol
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Inning over
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Venters on.quick groundout. 1 out.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
GREAT JUMPING CATCH by Thurston! 2 outs.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
He was def playing above the rim.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Yes it was, Wow
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
So he has pretty much played himself onto our 25 man roster, I think.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
I hope so,
he is impressive.
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Agree
bighop - March 31, 2010
I don't know
I mean, Conrad has certainly played well. But at some point you have to look at it and say Brooks is 30 and hasn’t had made a significant impact in the MLB in his career. Thurston is a veteran, to my knowledge, and has at least shown he can produce adequately at this level. Either way I think we’re okay at that final spot.
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
All that to say I agree with you, I guess. haha
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
Thurston getting airborns
bighop - March 31, 2010
Venters gives up single to….ah, hell, I dunno who.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Is it bad that, even though I know the outcome of the game
I’m still gonna watch the replay just as intently as if it was live?
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
Haha…a little, yeah.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Nope, I’ve seen and will probably watch again
bighop - March 31, 2010
No way,
I’ve done that before, and this has been a Great game to watch!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Duuuuuuuuuuuuude, no way.
I’ve been DVRing the ones on tv (that I can get) while I’m at work, following the thread while working, and gone home and watched the recording. Never once did I question the bad/good/weirdness of it!
Lizziebeth - March 31, 2010
That's what I've been doing too! But I had today off
So I thought I’d come bug you guys on the live thread!
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
Venters walks a man. Runners on 1st and 2nd
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Mike Garciaparra at bat.
Uhm…I am assuming they are related. Not a very common name.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Interesting – he was in the Brewers system (AAA & AA – in that order) last year.
carpengui - March 31, 2010
Was his mom's name Ekim? or Leahcim?
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
........cause Nomar was named after his dad Ramon?
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
Ooooh. Haha. I thought you were just mispelling some really orthodox jewish names.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Haha, nope. Thought that might need some explaining...
kreese555 - March 31, 2010
Groundout to ss. Braves win.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Braves win! Fun game
bighop - March 31, 2010
Yes, it was!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
They already won? I just got to the party. I’ve been in meetings all day.
At least they won!
Sparhawk - March 31, 2010
Watch it tonight, it was a great game!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Game!!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Thanks for picking it up for me, guys!
carpengui - March 31, 2010
thanks for the great pbp
Braves24 - March 31, 2010
Later guys,
Have a good afternoon, and evening!
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Sweet.
Lizziebeth - March 31, 2010
Yes, it was :)
HEYJUDE - March 31, 2010
Peace out homies.
!Vive la Francoeur! - March 31, 2010
Somone changed the channel on our office TV in the sixth. I missed the whole thing.
TheLetter2 - March 31, 2010
So that person’s chair will be MIA tomorrow, as well as vaseline smeared all over the earpiece on his/her phone?
Lizziebeth - March 31, 2010
I make no promises.
TheLetter2 - March 31, 2010
Another Question?
Just wondering what everybody thinks our lineup will be to start the season, assuming everyone is healthy…
David G. Little - March 31, 2010
i think it'll be
Melky
Prado
Chipper
Glaus
BMac
Escobar
Heyward
McLouth
but i’d rather have
Melky
Heyward
Chipper
Glaus
BMac
Escobar
McLouth
Prado
Scott Coleman - March 31, 2010
so no Diaz?
David G. Little - March 31, 2010
i would doubt it
since Zambrano is a righty
Scott Coleman - March 31, 2010
Do you think mcclouth will stay? or will diaz have more of an impact this season?
David G. Little - March 31, 2010
im obviously not Bobby
but I can’t justify having MattyD out of the lineup whenever a lefty is in the game. I just can’t. I think he’ll get 99.9% of the starts against lefties and an occasional start against a righty when Melky, Heyward or McLouth are hurt or in a slump.
McLouth has been hitting better as of late and it seems like he’s seeing the ball a bit better as well. Even if his struggles continue into the season, I think he’ll get until at least May 1st to sort everything out. Bobby is incredibly loyal and lets his guys work out of slumps. Nate will get his chance. If for some reason McLouth is still struggling a month into the season, I think Melky would play CF every day, with Diaz in LF and Heyward in RF and the Braves look at their options (i.e. Schafer being called up, trades, etc.)
Scott Coleman - March 31, 2010
