Braves Quote For The Day

This article from Yahoo is a couple of days old, but worth a read, if not for the gushing praise of our young right fielder:

Al Goetz needed to make the rest of the baseball world think the Atlanta Braves wanted nothing to do with Jason Heyward(notes). So he did what any reasonable scout would. Goetz turned into a stalker.

Past the outfield fence at Henry County High School stands a small forest, and as all the other scouts passing through suburban Atlanta sneaked peeks at Heyward from behind home plate, Goetz settled in the thicket. Scouting success often necessitates subterfuge, and in order to watch Heyward without giving away the Braves' desire to draft him, Goetz played woodsman.

It actually gets better after that.

Great read

I’m sure there was the feeling of, “This guy can’t be as good as I think he is going to be”. Heyward fell into our laps and I hope he’ll be with us for a long long time.

I wonder if scouts recognize each other…

Guys who work in the same area do. And usually they have a bag with them that has both their name and the team they work for, so it’s pretty hard not to spot a scout most times.

That is is…he is LArry Walker…i was trying to figure out the perfect comparison and that is it… Can Heyward play hockey?

I guess Heyward is taller, but in terms of skill set they are almost identical. If Heyward has the career Walker had (he’s a 300/400/500 hitter for his career) then we should feel very blessed

wasnt this fanshotted a while ago?
Yes, yesterday

because I read and commented on it!

Here's how my mind tends to work when I read things like this
…6-foot-5, 245-pound leviathan whose spring-training showcase forced Atlanta to summon him.

Man, you are such a nerd. It’s awesome.

Arguably the biggest one here.

Is that old-school Final Fantasy?

I haven’t played any of the pre-FFVIII games. I tried FFVII, but I couldn’t get past the graphics.

I'm the opposite

I hate all the new Final Fantasies because they’re all fluff and no story. The older you go, the more actual challenging difficulty there is, and some good stories to boot, graphics be damned.

Seriously, the commercial for FFXIIIIIIIII or wahtever they’re at sounded like a Mariah Carey concert instead of a video game of any quality.

Agreed about the fluff

I loved the graphics and the gameplay of the last FF, but the story was marginal and ended abruptly.
