Spring Training Open Thread: Braves at Marlins

Another televised game today as the Braves take an over-nighter and travel to Jupiter for the Marlins today and then the Cards tomorrow. I'm scheduling this post the night before as I will likely be at the Braves minor league camp all morning. The game is once again on Fox Sports South at 1:05pm.

Here are the pitchers scheduled to throw; Tommy Hanson, followed by four guys competing heavily for the last bullpen spots, Jesse Chavez, Manny Acosta, Michael Dunn, and Mariano Gomez.

If you're going to either of those two games (or any Braves game for that matter) make sure you take a picture and submit your own View From Your Seat.

Good Spring so far

I like what the starters have been doing both on the pitching and offensive sides… I cringe at some of these bullpen outings, but its still early… Especially whenthe starters are throwing a heavy diet of fastballs and guys start to catch up once the bullpen comes in

The best thing about this spring not named Jason Heyward...

Kris Medlen. He is looking very good so far.

agreed and would add Glaus, too. I didn’t know what to expect but so far he’s looked better at 1B than I thought and hitting them where they ain’t. now if the power would return….

I feel like I’m in the dark. What little I’ve seen is due to coordinating my lunch hour around game time.

Gotta get the AT BAT app for a smartphone… I listen tothe radio broadcasts at my desk while doing little work

So, I just learned that they have this same App for Blackberry…oh, shoot. Now I will never get any work done!

Or maybe I will, since the BB 8320 isn’t supported…

If you have the baseball package....

you can actaully sit at your desk, watch and no one will ever know.

Working at liberal academic instituitions has its perks. Yeah freedom!

I hear ya!

Yea Sewanee’s Right!

whoa

I went to Sewanee!

I work at the School of Theology…

I took alot of religion classes and was down

With Danaher before he left.

Lots of new professors here now...

Danaher was a pretty nice guy…

I went to BU Theology

after Sewanee

Same here.

what year?

’06 here

I think...

he was replying to being in the dark.

No, I meant I’m watching from work.

You have good eyes to see all the way to FL.

Well played. We have a TV set in the office.

I’ll be right over.

Well, at least I’m totally alone. Got no apps, packages, no radio reception in this cave, Internetweb blocked…working at a proprietary education institution sucks. Grrr.

I’ll be a bit late, but hope to get back here before the game is over.
Go Braves!!!

I can’t wait to see what The Warden will do today.

1:05pm EDT today... on XM 183
Not game time related

Nats released Elijah Dukes… Wren could pick him up on a minor league deal and dump No show Blanco

Intriguing, but I dunno that he’s got the demeanor of a typical Braves player… and the best he could do is challenge for a bench spot — that might not go well with him.

You know it's pretty bad when...

The worst team in baseball releases you. Might be time for a good long look in the mirror Elijah. You have way too much talent for this to happen.

Some Spring stats thus far...

BB: Braves as a team: 82 walks. First in majors; second is RedSox at 58.
OBP: Braves first at .404. DBacks second with .385.
AVG: DBacks at .322; Braves 8th at .294.
K: Braves 11th best at 79, but every team better has played fewer games than ATL’s 14. Braves are the only team with fewer K’s than BB’s. Phillies (12 games) have 70, which is second to the Dodgers (10 games; Taiwan didn’t count).

Pitching:
ERA: Braves (9-5) third at 3.85 (Phils, 7-4, 3.36)
K’s: Braves 5th, essentially even with top teams that have played more games.
BB’s: Braves 10th, again very comparable to best teams playing fewer games.
WHIP: 8th at 1.40 (indians 1.20; Phils 1.23).

Oh, by the way: That ‘Best Rotation in Baseball’, the Angels, have 26th best WHIP and 25th best ERA thus far. Just sayin’, Mr. Heyman.

Great stat compilation

Oh, and John Heyman is a dipshit

lineup

Mclouth
Prado
Chipper
Glaus
Mccann
Escobar
Heyward

Is it opening day?

Looks like Bobby’s most likely lineup decision, assuming J-hey starts in Atlanta and not Gwinett. Gotta get Nate going today…

Nate never thrived in the 1 last year

Injuries aside. He still should turn it around.

Yeah, Nate needs to hit 7th. Prado, J-hey, Chip 1-2-3

Are we just punting the 8-hole?

I thought the same thing. gotta be diaz or melky
8 spot doesn't matter

If Heyward is hitting the expected 60+ HRs from the 7 spot. Lol

8th hole will be occupied by Diaz today.

Anyone watching on MLB.TV

Marlins (8-6): Coghlan, Maybin, H Ramirez, Cantu, Morrison, Luna, Peterson, Davis, Andrew Miller Pitching. Forgive the spellings – I don’t know these guys!
Split squad yesterday – lost both.
Braves don’t meet Marlins this year until May 26 (Miami). July (I think) in Atlanta.

Nate up. 1-0. Game underway.

Get your eyes checked again Nate.

3-0, then 3-2 (all called)… fouled. Grounder to 2nd. Out 1.

3-1 to Prado. Easy fly out to center.

Does any one know a good source explaining how, for example, we could keep Heyward longer if he comes up later in the season?

If Heyward stays down for a few weeks, his major league service time isn’t a full year, and major league service time is how they determine when you are eligible for free agency and arbitration. If Heyward stays down for about 3 weeks, his free agency is delayed 1 year. The Rays did this with Evan Longoria. If he stays down for about 2 months, his arbitration is delayed 1 year.

So how long do we have him before he is a free agent? How many full years?

also, when is the date after which he can enter the season and it not count against his service time?

I don’t know the exact dates but I will look them up

Forget that..

Just go ahead and sign him long-term in a couple of years.

Just go ahead and sign him long-term in a couple of years weeks.

Fixed.

yeah...

Probably right!

Chipper…. Batting righty… 1-0 pitch skied to short right. Caught by 2nd baseman Maybin.
That’s the inning.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

will we get the game in, ya think?

IDK, it looks to be a light rain, right now.

I’m torn, i’ve got the game DVRing at home, but i probably won’t have time to sit and watch it all this evening. Not sure if i want to watch it tonight knowing the outcome so i can breeze through it, or go in blind. Obviously if i keep coming here i won’t be going in blind….

lol, bright green hats.

saving money

Not fitted either

Is anyone trying to watch on mlb.tv?

keep trying. just got it

Yeah, but the Braves game won’t work…go figure.

I got the Marlins feed. Better than nothing

I can’t get anything. Very annoying.

Green caps for St. Patrick's day, Ugly

It’s ugly, but I like it

Tommy Hanson getting started in bottom 1st.
Pitching to Coghlan…. good Irish name. Strike one.
(my source is the Marlins radio feed on XM).

2-1 pitch singled to right center.

Cameron Maybin (2B) up. Swing. Miss.
Bunted to Hanson on 1B side. Sacrifice works. 1 down, runner to 2nd.
Hanley Ramirez up.

Have to say it when we play the Marlins

I played Baseball with Brett Carrol of the Marlins for four years when I was younger

Love your signature,

so true, especially last year :)

I actually added it last year

It was probably a product of context

Are the hats today not fitted?

No

Unless hanson has too big a melon

Cool. 1-0. Liner up the middle scores Coghlan. 1-zip Marlins.

Ball one as Ramirez steals second easily. Cantu is up.

Ross would have thrown him out.imo.

1-2 count. Ed Rapuano behind the plate. Ball 2…

Bobby Cox vs. Freddi Gonzalez is 28-26. I guessed it might be that close.
Cantu pops out to Glaus behind 1st.

Anyone think there’s a chance Freddi comes back to Atlanta next year?

If they are looking for a similar guy

I think Freddi is it. Can’t you just see the boys coming home….Smoltz, Glavine, whose next?

I would like it, he's a good manager.

Logan Morrison up… Marlins #1 prospect.

#2 prospect

No way he is better than Stanton

He has a nice swing.

2-1 count, 2 down. Morrison is 4-27 on the Spring. Yes, you’re right – forgot about Stanton.
Fouled off.

LoMo is legit though

How ’bout “closest thing the Marlins have to a Heyward”?
Two more fouls. Still 2-2.
Comebacker…. 1-3 in the scorebook. End of the First.

Marlins broadcasters were talking about the debate over whether Stanton makes the club. It’s apparently gonna be a close call.

No way he’s ready. He isn’t like Heyward, who has patience out the wazoo. He is a hacker. He’ll get carved up

Glaus/McCann/Escobar… the first team made the trip today – likely because of the Cards game down there tomorrow.

Glaus groundout to short. 1 down.

Called strike three on Brian. 2 down.

BMac, watched the final K.

Don’t like that radar I’m seeing. They’ll be lucky to get the starters through 4.

Escooooooooooo, with a single up the middle.

Single through the 3rd/Short hole for Escobar. And that brings up….

pop out for Heyward

Jay-Hey up

Got under one, popped up.

0-1 pitch hit to short center. Ramirez catches it for the 3rd out.
Correction – Jude’s post was right on Esco’s single.

Did anyone read that Jay-Hey will not sign

autographs for our Talking Choppers down there? Sad :(

beacuse...?
real beat if true
IDK, but I trust what CB and the others were saying yesterday in a OP.
He signed a few things for me
CB said he would not even look at the Braves fans, must less sign,

maybe he was just having a bad day, who knows.

Must have been. I saw him at 3 games this spring, and he signed for me at all of them

That makes me feel better,

after reading that last night, it left a sick feeling in me.

Yeah you should be good. He signed 2 cards, a hat, and a ball for me

Well crap

I’m planning to head down there in a couple of weeks. Was hoping to hit him up then.

Luna vs. Hanson. 1-1. Increases his .412 average with a single.
McLouth loses it (E8) on wet grass. Luna to second.

Nate tried to bare hand one, ugh

Looked like it took off funny after hitting the ground

Brian Peterson (RF). Heyward catches a fly for 1st out.

Those hats really are goawd awful. They may as well have a pot of gold on them with Little Mac popping out

Davis ©. Foul. Ball. Pop up…. Glaus saves McCann. 2 down.

Nate charged with an error on that bare hand try :(

Miller time. Ball one. Strike. Somebody in the stands didn’t like it!
Strike three looking. End 2nd inning. strands the runner; error no consequence.

If the stadium were 10-15 miles further south, I’d be more optimistic about the weather. It’s gonna be close.

Strike to start Diaz.

Single to center!

Diaz just hits...
Ball to Diaz

looked outside. No way that was a strike

If he can reach it…. he hits lefties!

Bunt by Hanson… nice sacrifice down 1st baseline. Diaz to 2nd.

Little Mac needs a hit all kinds of bad
hallalujah. Infield single

Ruled an error, but it should be a hit

A little dribble gets him a hit
Great slump buster
hustle

glad to see him running hard

RISP. Strike one…. 2-2 while the Marlins talk about promos.
Grounder to 2nd goofed. E4.
Runners safe.

Prado: 1 out, 1st & 3rd.
1-0 pitch becomes a Sac Fly to Center.
Tie game.

And we are tied. Sacrifice to center by Prado

scores Diaz

Still talking promotions for the Marlins.

3-1 to Chipper. Ball four.

Chipper walks.

some of those pitches were close, good eye

Glaus up.

I’m ready for a Glaus HR, but still waiting

More rain moving into the area. 2 down for Glaus. Runners 1st/2nd.

I was busy with a sale at work...

…how has Hanson looked?

Good

Gave up a quick run but settled down and is locating his pitches well. Lot of movement on his fastball.

Excellent. Thanks very much for that. Has he thrown that nasty nasty curve any?

MLB Network

The game is also being aired on the MLB network with the FSS feed.

Every Friday night this year (except opening week), it’ll be the “Los Marlins” on the uni’s.
3-1 to Glaus. Walked. Bases loaded.

Glaus walks, bases loaded Mac up.
"Los Marlins" verrrrrry interesting
"Lost Marlins"

Would be more appropriate.

0-2 to McCann … close low pitch for a ball.
Drilled to the wall!

Mac hit one to the wall, 2 in.
Who's playing RF for the Marlins?

That was very much weird.

The ball is bouncing weird in the OF today.

That was ugly, but Braves score 3

Ball bounced right by the RFer, might be a single and an error.

Miller done. We knocked him out of the game.

I think his defense knocked him out of the game. All 4 of the runs should be unearned.

True
Except for the 2 walks he gave up.

Andrew Miller is done. That’s Brian Peterson out there in RF.

Interesting. The Marlins radio guys didn’t react like that RF play was a big deal.
I wonder if Miller was having grip/control issues with the rain.

It looked like he should have had it for sure, as hard as it was hit, he’d probably have held the Braves to one run scored.

Escobar up. I missed the new pitcher…. ah, “Hensley”. 2 hits, no runs or walks this spring.
Groundout to short? End of the Braves half of the 3rd.

2-2 count. Fouled on ground to first.
Coghlan strikes out.

Interviewing Freddie Gonzalez on TV.
He speaks highly of the Braves.

He’ll be doing the chop. Listen.

Whoa

That hook looked really good from Hanson.

Tommy K's Maybin looking on the fastball outside

Luna (2b) up. Having some signal quality issues…
Of course, they’re talking and not reporting… 1-2 pitched fouled. Ball two.
Cloooose curve … ball 3.
K called.

Hanley gets a single thru Esco…. lazy attempt?

yeah, didn’t look like he was trying that hard

yeah, looked lazy here too

or wet grass? Like Peterson's ball
Possibly

His footing can’t be great and it is spring.

Maybe but I don’t think he thought he needed to go any harder. He was right there, but the ball skipped over his glove.

Let’s hope that gets questioned in the dugout.

For what?

I would rather him go hard in the regular season not ST!

Cantu up w/2 down. 1-0 pop-up to Glaus. End 3rd.

Hanson breezed through that inning..

looking good!

Some rain relief coming shortly… not the end, but a break.

Um......it's raining harder!
Now we have to listen to TP.
And Chip
yep, and not Chip as in Jones.lol

talking about Heyward on TV

Apparently TP can’t comprehend J-Hey’s patience. lulz

Heyward chops one to 1B Morrison. 3 unassisted.

I think that’s what they said.

High short pop to RF gets Diaz. 2 down quick. Hanson up.

Grounder to 3rd… they’re done.

Hanson made contact twice, reckon he could take McLouth’s spot?

Chip said we gotta go, I'm getting wet,

he must be afraid he might get his hair messed up, HaHa

Hanson back in for the 4th.

Logan Morrison to lead off their 4th.
Strike one. Ball. Strike 2.
Grounder through for a single.

Thanks for the play-by-play

I thought this game was supposed to be on FSS? I’m not getting it here in Milledgeville.

I'm watching it on that. My MLBN was blocked for some reason.
Milledgeville

Has been put in Big Ben quarantine. I’m afraid you’re not getting anything in from the outside for a while.

Afraid so...

one guy plays grab-ass and I can’t get my Braves baseball!

That was a nice triple side by side of Heyward, McGriff, and Stargell

He finishes more like Parker to me.
Oh and that was McGriff, Parker and Heyward

Another first pitch Strike. Now 0-2. Luna is up…finally got that info… ball.
Dang… losing my signal.

Grounder to Escobar. 6-3 batter’s out. “Only one play”. 1 out.

1-0 to Peterson. Foul down RF. Screaming line drive to Prado. Double play!

DP to end Tommy's day.
just said

He might go another

Dunno his pitch count, but it hasn’t been real high.

50 at the start of the 4th

End of 4th. 4-1 Atlanta.
Top 5th. Top of the order.

Nate’s back up — 2 and Oh… grounder to first. Out.

Well, at least he hit it fairly hard.

0-1 to Prado. Pop up to Peterson in short RF. 2 down. Prado is 0-2 with a SF.

Chipper. Batting lefty now? 1-2 after a foul. Turns 38 y.o. in May.
2-2 count…. 3-2 on a check swing.
Grounder to first again. 3 unassisted.
That’s over.

Thankful we got our runs before facing,

Hensley.

Looks like rain is gone for another inning or 2. Yeah, Hensley has looked Real Good. Generally giving up weak grounders.

hanson’s back out for the 5th

Hanson back out
Hanson out again for the 5th.

No walks, 3 K’s…. didn’t catch the hits (not many).
This is my last half inning… gotta get back to other matters!

Davis the catcher is up. 1-1.

thanks carpengui, appreciate the assist
Hey guys and gals!

Anyone care to give me a recap? I just woke up after a long night.

There’s no sleeping in Braves baseball.

Haha I know I know I’m a bad fan.

;)

screenshotted, too.

Thanks to everyone for keeping us informed. It helps!
Love,
those of us in the dark.

liner single to left on a 3-1 count. Thx – glad to have the chance to contribute.

Bunt attempt for a strike… I think…Hensley ( P ) batting.

Hensley misses the bunt for a K. 1 out.

strike out swinging on a bunt attempt

I like what Chipper just said about Heyward

“He has done absolutely nothing to deserve a trip to Gwinnett. Atlanta, get ready.”

No one is saying he deserves a trip. Chipper talks too much.

You shut that mouth up! He’s Mr. Jones as far as you’re concerned….haha

Chipper

Doesn’t care about the Braves 6 years from now, when we could have Heyward for a huge bargain if we just send to Gwinnett for 3 weeks. 3 weeks! 60 ABs of Heyward now for 600 ABs of 26 y/o Heyward. No question in my mind what the right move is.

You are incorrect.

The three weeks sending him down would only mean the difference between Heyward being a fourth year arbitration player and a free agent in six years. The difference in third year arbitration and free agent salaries is generally small, the third year arbitration players usually get about 80% of market value. Fouth year arbitration players are naturally a little bit higher. This means, that the “bargain” we would get in six years for those three weeks does not amount to much. Remember that we can always keep him indefinitely if we are willing to pay the market rate—-the question isn’t a different between 60 ABs and a full year of Heyward, it is whether we are cheap enough that we are worried about a couple of million dollars six years from now.

True

I got my dates mixed up. And I don’t actually think we should keep him down till June to avoid Super 2 status. He’s too good right now for that.

Thanks for the correction.

that's not what he's saying...

He’s saying he will be eligible for arbitration for that year and the year before anyway.

I've seen you explain this before -

you should make a fanpost or something so everyone can see, because it makes a lot of sense and puts it in a new perspective.

A player may not become a free agent until after 6 full years of service (unless the team simply doesn’t offer him a contract/arbitration during his first 6 years).

A player is recognized as having a year of service at 172 days, if he has fewer days of service he is not credited with a year of service, thus delaying their free agency by a year.

Top of order – - Coghlan up… 1-2.
Hit to center. Nate catches for second out.

That was actually Brent Cleven. Also, Conrad is playing 2nd now.

Nate changed into Clevlen’s jersey…lol

Brent Carroll (sp?) — new CF — is now up.
.273 for the Spring… 3 HR and 2 2B’s.

Huh! The Marlins guys didn’t know of the changes!

I played ball with him in Knoxville

Nice dig by Glaus

Nice throw by thurston for the putout

Thurston/Glaus, fantastic play!

1-2 count. tapper to 3rd (Thurston). Just got him at first.
Now Hanson’s done. And nicely so.

Nice play and nice scoop by Thurston and Glaus!

Thurston has looked good.

What’s our bench look like?

I mean speculate.

I know the contenders

Still unknown, Ross, Infante, Hinske, Cabrera, and Conrad/Thurston. Conrad already on the 40 man….

wooo just got home and the games actually on tv

Who is doing the play by play for us right now!
Who is doing the play by play for us right now?

Sorry for the double post.

Chip talking to Hanson on TV.

Recap: 4-1 Braves after Five.

Hanson has been sharp – Marlins haven’t been able to put anything together. Their run was a single, sacrifice, single. Since then it’s really been a shutdown, pretty much. No walks.

Andrew Miller could have had a better fate, but gave up walks and ill-timed hits, especially in the 3rd inning (double by McCann cleared the bases for 3 RBI). Hensley has shutdown the Braves since then… and is still in, I believe.

Cheers, all.

I thought carpengui

Yeah, but I’m shutting down now.

glaus down swinging

Hinske, Melky, Omar, Ross, Thurston over Conrad. Bobby just seems to have a soft place in his heart for those crappy veteran infielders.

Reply fail. And that last line should read SRAPPY veteran infielders.

what's SRAPPY?

Fail again

I’ll just quit while I am only a little behind.

so k

Its Spring Training

Please don't.

I needed that wild laugh, and it only encourages the commonly held thought at work that I am insane, and that it’s best for them all to leave me alone.

esco line drive basehit to right on 2-0 count

I guess I can pick it up from here
Looks like the rain is getting heavier.

Base hit heyward between first and 2ndbaseman first pitch….esco to 2nd

Esco and Heyward with some 2 out magic

diaz weak grounder to short…inning over

Diaz left 2 on....
How big is Esco?

Anyone seen him with their own eyes? I tend not to believe a player’s listed weight. All pics I see of the guy he has a really thick football-player neck.

I think that is

his head you are talking about

:)

Get outta my head :)

Mariano Gomez in to pitch

Sammons, hinkse, blanco in cf, clevlen in right

richar double off the right field wall first pitch

Gomez almost gave a long ball.

Now another hit,ugh

base hit cantu to left…1st and 3rd

hicks now at short stop as well, mitch jones in left

6-4-3 Vidro run scores

Jose Vidro is still playing?

Wow. Will wonders never cease?

idk if your serious or just not part of last years game threads?

Did not join the site until December or something...

…so if it is an inside joke, I missed it.

I don’t know exactly when it started but here on TC all double plays are referred to as Vidros, as it seemed like he hit into a ton….even if the numbers don’t back it up.

Oh, okay.

That makes a bit more sense than Jose Vidro catching on somewhere, lol.

Luna sharp single up the middle

Does Gomez think this is BP?

3 hits thus far this inning.

4-3 inning over….Braves winning 4-2

Gomez, Chavez, not impressive thus far in ST, imo.
we got rid

of the good pitchers with “Zs” at teh end of their names.

Well hell. Raced home from the dentist only to find my MLBTV guide shows the Braves game, but they are not showing it. I’ getting an old game with Minnesota. Sid Bream is at bat. UGHHHHHHH

Mine too, but found it on SS.

Thanks – gonna check that now….

DANCES HAPPY DANCE!! Game on!

(go figure – FSS/HD has a hockey game on, but on the standard FSS it’s the game)

Is everyone else as excited as I am,

about this season? I think it’s gonna be a fun season!

If Chipper is healthy, I’ll be more excited about the season

Hinske tapper back to the mound…1 out

clevlen down on a big hook

Brooksy up….5-3….inning over.. Hensley crusing

Ron Wasington test positive for cocaine last year

Gomez still pitching

Gomez back on the hill.

How come gondee isn’t on TV talking about his blogging?

He has readers already

Shameless plug.
I don't think he made this trip, was staying and checking out some minor league guys.
Still in FL though.

ground out to short….2 down

cousins swinging k on what looked like a nice changeup from gomez….inning over

Yep, Gomez looked much better this inning.

i think facing two lefties helped

I almost forgot…. I know it’s the 8th, and I’m late, but.

I've missed your graphics during ST.

Happy to see ya back on here :)

Hey there! I’m just excited to see Braves on my TV again.
It’s been a loooooong winter.

Did you find them on FSS?

Yep, on the regular channel.
The FSSHD has hockey. Go figure.

I've gotta on HD,

Oh well, happy you found em, even if it’s not HD.

And yes, it’s been a long Winter. I’m ready for the season to begin. I think we are going to have a lot more to cheer about this season!

Apparently, Robert Wuhl’s son is a sideline reporter this season.

thurston looking terrible swinging at a ball over his head…1 out

Is the number of red-haired players intentional today?

ahhh gingerkids

ya gotta love us!

is it true you have no souls?

Melky pops up to short….Richar loooks lost and it bounces off his glove for an error…man on first

Reflecting their Irish Apprecition.

Fish and Chips after. Hopefully we’ll have some dead fish

Sammons pops up foul to 1st

This camera angle makes the batter look 3 ft tall.

Like a … dare I say it… Leprechaun.

what a crappy day for baseball

Pissed on us all day. Got a few innings with no rain but that’s about it. Tommy looked pretty good, except against the top of the order in the first. Umpire was really inconsistent. I left because I started freezing from being wet and it was windy.

Go get some Fish and Chips

I am hongry

I read that too quickly – and thought it said something else.
hehehehe

there it is…how quickly you’re already going there and the season hasnt even started yet

Ut oh, have I manged to get scolded already?
I blame it on the green hats. ;-D

Food does get me excited some times….

"That" would be a reason to leave the game early ,

I must admit :)

yeah...

OH you meant food ;)

I can get food at the stadium :)

You didn’t need to type that whole paragraph. Next time just save time and say “I’m a big pansy.”

Wet and cold. Yuck, hate that.

Uhh ohh

The Big C is back

Ground out to third…1 out Chavez now pitching

Richar flies out to deep center 2 outs

Mike Lamb flies out to the track….Chavez gives up two deep fly balls but no damage

No runs, much improvement, I hope.....

Blanco leading off

Chavez has Reitsma disease...

Blacno rolls over to 2nd…one out

or blanco

Blac No

should be his super hero name

is having a rough ST.

hes having a rough two years

and we had so much hope with the World Baseball Classic last year

Yes, don't know why he is still around. We have depth in our OF now.

He’s a poor mans Willie Harris

He’s the emergency backup CFer/4th OFer in case Nate or Melky goes down …

I’m wholly in favor of Nate going down.

Wait, are we talking about the same thing?

No, but I agree, if Nate can't get it going.

Whoa, I think people in the other building heard me laugh that time.

I think we’re having trouble giving him away. He’ll be one of those package guys if we need something donw the stretch.

My thinking as well.

Why would we be trying to give him away? He’s cheap organizational OF depth as long as he has options left.

I was thinking of him in a trade package later on, if need be.

Doubtful that he’d have any value in a trade. Most likely he’ll be given a look next spring to possibly win a backup role and then traded/cut much like Josh Anderson was last year.

Jones swings at a curve in the dirt….K’s…2 down

I hate I missed Tommy – how did he end up?

Just gave up 1 run in the 1st, looked good the next 4.

Good to hear.

Simailar line to Lowe the other day i believe.

Hinske with the 3-U

Bottom 9th, Dunn on to pitch i think

Morrison grounds out to Hicks…one out

Dunn 0-2 on Luna

Anyone else think Luna has batted

like 8 times today. I feel like he’s like trying to do what I use to do in Kickball and say I didn’t bat last inning.

Luna chops it to second…2 down

2-2 on Petersen

Caray: “CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!”
