Great find by PW:
Look, I know it’s better for a player to have a successful spring outing than an unsuccessful spring outing. But, for perspective’s sake, let me make a subtle point.

Derek Lowe’s line: 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K, (6 groundotus)
Rewind one year and five days.
Box Score: March 10, 2009 | MLB.com
Derek Lowe: 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K (6 groundouts)
Sound familiar?
Without a ROE yesterday, they’d have been the exact same line. Seriously.
And let's hope he starts out this year with the same fire that he started last season. We just have to hope he can keep it up all season and not let the blisters affect him (wherever they may pop up).

But compare that to the last game of last year
4.2 innings, 8 hits, 6 runs, 5 BB 4 K
That’s a huge improvement.

Non blister start
A couple of weeks ago, Lowe had a good start, spoke of the mechanical changes he had made over the winter. Then the blister start, then yesterday. I think he has a chance to be much improved over last years second half. I wanted Lowe over Vazquez all along, actually I wanted them both to stay, but Lowe over Vazquez.
