Johnson

on the mound for the Fish, right?

"I'm about to head onto the field"

Want a cookie?

Thanks Gondee

Hicks?

Interesting.

Very Interesting

He’s getting a prolonged look, can’t imagine they’d stick him on the bench to start the year as it’d be better if he could play everyday in AAA, but a great sign

Heyward, batting 2nd?

I think it’s not a bad idea.

not at all with his OBP and line driving

I have a question...

This is off topic but for fantasy reasons I’m wondering what the word is on Jason Heyward. I hear he is a beast but do you think he will 1) Make the team 2) be a bench guy 3) become a starter? Sorry I don’t know much about him. I’m actually an Astros fan….Yes, I know they are terrible :) Thanks for the help and good luck this season.

If he makes the team he will be starting and all signs point to him making the team so far in ST. He may be spelled on occation against tough lefties by some combo of Diaz or Melky, but I get the feeling he will see over 500 PA this year.

Wrong crowd to ask that question to…lol

Not a viable option

I wouldn’t draft him unless you want to get him with a last round pick and hope he’s the ROY. He’s probably only going to be a 1 category fantasy player (BA). I doubt he plays every day. I doubt he cracks 15 HRs, 50 RBI or 8 SBs. Worst-case scenario is he struggles early on a la Schafer and gets sent down to Gwinett. I know that someone in my draft this Sunday will draft him cuz we’re all Braves fans, but I won’t.

And I completely hope that I’m 100% wrong.

Worst-case scenario is he struggles early on a la Schafer and gets sent down to Gwinett.

Lets all hope he doesn’t injure his wrist in the first game of the season. I know i couldn’t hit .280-.300 one handed.

I know i couldn’t hit .280-.300 one handed.

Jason Heyward can hit .300 with one broken wrist and the other hand tied behind his back.

Thanks for the info guys. I could just leave him as a FA and try and be one of the first to pick him up if he catches fire. He’s on my radar.

Fatvirus, there is one implausible scenario there.

If he is up, he will play more or less every day. The Braves have already said that (that he’ll be playing more or less every day either in Atlanta or Gwinnett) and honestly, to do anything is would be horribly dumb. You don’t stunt a 20 yr. old stud prospect’s development by making him a bench player. Either you have a spot and you play him or you send him down and play him there. If he plays fulltime the full season, he’ll certainly crack 50 RBI and have a good number of runs, too, due to the OBP. The HR’s are a tricky question because he is more or a line drive hitter than a HR hitter, but he’s so strong, I think he would get 20 in a full season. As for the steals, we all know Bobby doesn’t run, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that number is low.

Dyansty/Keeper – sell your children to draft him! One-year leagues, well not so much.

i got him for 12$

i know, A LOT, but everyone wanted him and it was at 10$ so i went to 12$.

I know, a bit dumb, but for 3 years i’ll have him for 18$ per and while that’s A LOT now, in 2012 it will be a STEAL.

ps

i got Markakis for 13$, so i could afford to go to 12 on Heyward.

Melky leading off

Looks like Bobby may have finally realized he needs to explore McLouth-leading-off alternatives. Bout time.

Yeah I think its time were try a 75/25 Diaz/Melky platoon in LF batting 1st

Diaz plays against all lefty and below average righties.

looks as though

Bobby is trying to let the Righties on the team face a tough righty before the season.

The best part about this game

is its televised!!!

Anyone else

worried that we are always going to be looking for that big RH bat?

After Glaus leaves what do we do next year? sign a FA LF?

After Chip is gone and Heyward is batting 3rd who protects him in the lineup?

Freddie Freeman could do it. I don’t think we’ll spend much next offseason because, well, we won’t have much money to spend. However, once KK’s contract is up after 2011 along DLowe’s and Chipper’s in 2012, I imagine we would add a big time free agent.

Not really,

Unless you think we can afford Werth or feel comfortable trying to stick Hawpe in left, then lord no, let’s resign Matty D.

Freeman

well i asked

because im not to sure that Freeman would be well suited for the clean up spot. Maybe the #5/#6 spot though after that RH bat

Pujols or bust in 2012.

apparently

Howard and Pujols were rumored to get swapped

heck

even the #2 spot might be good for Freeman

Oh god, Chip is broadcasting

Who’s ready to get fisted?!

always loved hearing him call a game with his dad, though.

welp

Coglan leads it off with a 3B

and a 2B

by the 2nd batter

I've figured it out...JJ's hat is crooked

He needs to put that thing on straight.

he always

has his hat to the side

Ouch.
you know the best part about all these hits

Cabrera is HUSTLING!!!!

Watch and observe Nate

JJ does not look good

its his 2nd start

of ST.

most guys are on #3/4

I'm just saying

Not doom and gloom at all. He’s pitching against the split squad and the ball is seeing to much of the plate

its to be expected

1st week of ST pitchers are just really trying to get their Fastball location working. He is still essentially doing that. Remember that he is behind about 2 weeks.

Also dont forget the hitters have seen live pitching for 2 weeks now so they are way ahead of him right now

No I get you

but we are seeing half of their everyday lineup and facing Johnson, you’d think he’s bit a bit more amped

So if McLouth continues to slump

and we start Melky in CF whats the lineup?

Melky
Heyward
Chip
Glaus
McCann
Esco
Diaz
Prado

hmmm

i think they would keep heyward lower in the order to keep from having 3 RHB in a row

truspeak, didn’t take that into account.

I wouldnt mind

Prado
Heyward
Chip
Glaus
Mac
Esco
Cabrera
Diaz

I could get down with that. I am still worried Prado comes back down to earth this year.

Down to Earth?

2006-22YRS-42ABs-.262BA/..340OBP
2007-23YRS-59ABs-.288BA/.323OBP
2008-24YRS-228ABs-.320BA/.377OBP
2009-25YRS-450ABs-.307BA/.358OBP

In 6 Minor League Seasons (2003-2008) he hit .300BA/.353OBP.

What leads you to the down to earth assumption?

because his major league OPS is about 75 points above his minor league career average. I’m not discounting the fact that he might be a late bloomer but I’m not 100% sold yet. If he can maintain the doubles power this season I’ll be more of a believer.

Gold glove son!
Jay-Hey with the hose.. Guns Paulino out at 3rd to end the inning

PLEASE POST A VIDEO PLEASE PLEASE OF THE HOSE

I hope JJ doesn't start to pitch to his peripherals this year

He was an over-achiever last season, we might see him come back to life this season…

Yeah I said all year his 2008 and 2009 seasons were incredibly similar.

I used to think he was an over-achiever as well, however, I figured out that he just has “it”. He’s intelligent and knows what to do with the ball. Maybe he’s not overachieving afterall…

possible, stats can’t account for the ability to wiggle out of jams

You mean Wiggle%? You must not go to Fangraphs…

lol do they really have wiggle % there?

I wouldn't mind him doing that.

Doing better than his peripherals is great, of course, but his peripherals put him at about a 3.70 ERA, just like 2008. I could live with that, it is a very solid number.

Melky down on strikes
Welp

Cabrera just k’ed

Johnson pitching around Heyward..

WOW.. 2-0

Heyward

up 2-0 in the count

wait

how was that a walk it was only 3 balls

Johnson WALKED.. 3 Pitches!

Heyward walks on 3 pitches because the Ump awarded him a free ball because Johnson went to his mouth

thanks

didnt know that

also Jason heyward only needs 3 balls to get a free base.

Hahaha I like that a lot.

He was skeered!

Biting his knuckles…

Whata bitch

Throw the man a strike!

the pitcher went to his mouth, that's an automatic BALL
Heyward

breaks up the DP.

Heyward scared Hanley to break up the DP
Jason stikes again!

Heyward has Greg Oden Syndrome. He looks 15 years older than he is.

Would you guys rather have glaus hit 30 homers or bat 550 all year?

As long as he is driving in runs it doesn’t matter to me how he gets it done.

29 homers and bat 550 is too much to ask?

I’ll take it.

Glaus

Flyout to RF

Chipper hasn't look intimidating at all this spring or last year

Yes, his AB looked a little weak IMO

well

he claims that he is holding back his strength till the last couple of weeks

OT: Beautiful lady in a sun-dress in the crowd :)

Nice to know Braves cameramen haven’t lost the ability to find the hottest chicks in the crowd in between innings.

You sure aren’t lying about that

JJ get's Bonafacio to line out to 1st, 1 OUT

Jurrjens is leaving everything up in the zone

JJ will have a better inning.

His hat is more at 11:30.
Last inning was more like quarter to 11.

JJ K's Josh Johnson looking outside FB
1B UMP is getting reamed by the radio guys...

what’s up with that?

might be from penalizing Johnson for going to his mouth against heyward, but I don’t know what else it would be

He made the correct call

Marlin’s pitcher Johnson went to his mouth on the mound, the ump awarded a ball to the batter (Heyward), resulting in a 3-pitch walk.

Which is as rare as the might 17 tooed-aardvark

It's a new rule this season..

Yep, doesn’t mean that it is still not rare. We’ll see a bunch with some of the pitchers with tics though

what's the radio feed
WIFN

out of Florida

jj is throwing some nasty changes now…

finally

That high in the zone fastball isn’t a pick to click.. lol

3up and 3 down!!
2nd Inning.. Diaz to lead it off
Diaz with a single to LF
I caught a Infante home run ball last year

RBI double for Infante

Infante down the LF line, Diaz scores, Infante into 2nd!!!
One thing that is nice about Spring triaining...

Watching baseball at a work everyday

Brandon Hick's breaks bat, Infante to 3rd.. 2 OUTS
JJ weak chopper to Paulino, Inning over

OT: John Smoltz is going to be a playoff announcer with TBS.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/03/smoltz-lands-tbs-job.html

does that mean he’s retired and will now go in with Maddux and Glavine?

Maddux

goes in before either one of them

I don't think so

I’m pretty sure since Glavine never pitched in the majors last year he goes in with Maddux

He isn't eligible

He pitched last season, meaning his hall of fame clock didnt start until this year. Glavine wasn’t retired, but since he wasn’t a part of a major league team at any point last year, that puts him eligible with Maddux.

“Joining Turner Sports’ Major League Baseball coverage is a great opportunity for me to stay immersed in the game that I love and I’m really looking forward to this experience.”

I can think of a better way for him to remain close to baseball and more importantly our organization…

I haven’t seen anything you have posted the last couple of times you have posted anything

or are you using the grey boxes to highlight the text between them?

tried to quote the story

not going huh? I hardly ever post here, so I must be doing it all wrong.

JJ gets Peterson and Ramirez to fly out to Center and Right Field
JJ has retired to last 5 batters
JJ

goes 1-2-3

sat down 6 in a row

Glavine hasn’t been half bad in the booth.

Melky chops one to pitcher

1 out

jhey walks

Johnson pitching around Heyward again..

ANOTHER WALK

You could tell by the way he pitched he wanted no part of Heyward today.

Heyward

walks again

3 straight balls away

chipper up the middle

Chipper

Hits a single up the middle

Chipper rips one up the middle.. 1st and 2nd, 1 OUT

love to see more hits in the gaps and maybe even a couple of HRs from Chip before the spring is over. His power numbers were awful @ the end of last year

He is toying with his swing mechanics this offseason.

I won’t care about the numbers until the last week of spring because he is just working on stuff.

liner to right jhey scores

Glaus

Single into RF

Glaus single to RF.. Heyward scores easily
Jason Heyward

Has an OBP of .600 this spring and an OPS of 1.407.

Not bad.

I don't know WHOSE standards you go by.

That’s really low for him. He needs to STEP IT UP or else he’s gonna get cut

Glaus has been killing it this spring
Glaus,

I love that guy more with each passing day.

But wait

I thought Frank Wren was a horrible GM and only made bad moves?!

shhhh

we wont brag about the best offseason signing

Me too. I hope he can keep it up. He could be the spark to take us up and above.

Diaz with a 3-0 count
Like the patience.
Diaz WALK.. Bases Loaded

been really impressed with the patience the team has shown at the plate this spring

such a difference

when you get rid of FYF

It makes a huge difference.

Fangraphs had an article up this morning showing that there is a higher correlation between drawing walks and winning games than there is between hitting home runs and winning games.

After a walk, Infante swings at a pitch in the dirt.. SMH
indeed

you see 2 guys walked in the inning and you swing at pitch #1

what does smh mean?

SMH = SHAKES MY HEAD
Heyward must be having high school flashbacks

Dude’s got everyone shook.

just wait

till he connects on a breaking pitch and knocks it out. Then they will really pitch around him

Infante 3-1 count.. would have had a walk if he didn't reach for that grounder lol

Might be a reason to forget about batting him 7th

indeed

he set the tone for the inning. moved into scoring position by chip and glaus drove him in

infante pops up

Infante lazy pop to RF

Oh well

ross up the middle jones and glaus score

2 more runs!!
Ross

Single up the middle. 2 Runs score

I love this guy also.....
hopefully

Glaus being healthy and a productive season from Heyward will allow us to give Mac more off days and keep him fresh

This for sure.
i mean

healthy Glaus can put up 30+HR’s and 100 RBI’s

Sounds similar to those Holliday and Bay players we didnt sign lol

for 1/20th of the price
not to mention

the years attached

yeah

wish we could afford to use him as A RH Pinch Hitter

Would be nice.
Ross a broken bat single up the middle

Chipper scores…. Glaus scores…

Bwahahaha, good guys are winning!
whats funny

is that Johnson had started walking off the mound to the dugout

Anyone remember when Wil Ledezma almost did that in a game/

Hanley should have had that one..
Brandon Hicks up
Brandon Hicks down
Hicks K's on a pitch in the dirt :(

come on now hicks…what was that…

What I like about this year is,

if we get down by a few runs, we have the O to get us back in the game.

indeed

i just hope we dont give McLouth too much time to “get it right”

let him do that in AAA

Amen, even though some on here like to argue it's just ST, :)
ST

can show some things. When you’re not catching fastballs its a problem

I totaly agree.
Well...

that’s because it is just spring training….not an argument, really, just true.

the only thing I don’t like about this years team are the health issues

Is someone sick?

no but we have a lot of people who are injury risks.

Saito in to pitch
Saito in

Excited to see him

paulino liner up the middle

promptly

gives up a single

Paulino blasts a single up the middle
really?

c’mon you old-ass bastard!

Saito

K’s Helms

We get to see Kimbrel today

looks like img going to watch this whole game

This

is what I’m waiting for!

excited to see how wagner does on this outing

This

I hope he shows he’s ready,

Saito

almost got a DP to get out of it.

2 outs

man almost a double play but cousins safe at first

yay cousins caught stealing

ROSS!!!

Guns down the runnner

wow...

perfect throw.

he was so quick with it to
Ross guns the runner out at 2nd.. NO SOUP FOR YOU!
He could be the starting catcher on most teams.

He certainly caught Braves Fever…career year last year, and he has started for teams before..

Saito

looked pretty good after that first batter. not to bad.

So I recall having a dream

That Heyward was going to be the starting short stop today.

well, if Esco gets hurt… ;)

Then we'll trade GIDP's for K's
Hicks will be the SS
mlb won't allow it

his presence distracts the hitters

hicks got spiked

I wish

we could fuse McCann and Ross into a switch hitting monster of a catcher with amazing defense

Jobu

would need lots of rum for that one

TC doesn’t like fuzing…I tried to do that with our CF situation at the beginning of last season (Schafer, Anderson, Blanco) and it was met with mostly disgust and confusion.

hinske walks

Just love our guys patience at the plate.
Just tuned in to the game...

Looks like we are starting to get some offense…

Melky flies out to Center

man what a cut by heyward

Heyward swung out of his shoes there, yikes
He wants to swing the bat, dang it!
Melky

not looking good leading off.

Heyward making a case for the lead off role

wait

THAT IS THE FENCE!!!!

WHAT THE HECK!!!

rips it to right center

Heyward Singles

Hinske to 3B

he killed that... first time i've gotten to hear the sound
Amazing isn't it.
THIS

gives me a warm fuzzy feeling!

Heyward blisters one to RF, Hinske to 3rd
Jay-Hey

with a scorching single.

Wait

wasnt that fisted

nope

floated over the outside part of the plate

Dude only knows how to hit the ball hard.

I like Heyward batting second

Chipper will always bat with men on.

Oddly, when he came to bat, you can tell he didn't want to WALK

He came out swinging at every pitch..

When he wants to walk, he walks, when wants to hit, het hits…very chuck norris-ish

chip chip hooray…..chipper rips it to right

Chipper singles to RF, Heyward to 3rd, Hinske scores
Chipper

Single to RF.

Heyward goes 1st to 3B

Hinske Scores

5-3

Chipper was grimacing though...
ya know

if Chip goes down im not worried. Last year the only reliable offensive weapon we had was McCann, Prado, and Escobar.

This year its only looking like McLouth is slumping

lets just call glaus butter from now on cause he’s on a roll

i know that was corny lol

as long as you realize that lol

haha i did i even questioned it before posting but decided i would lol

hey, it’s ST for posters, too :)

thats right…my comments will get better i promise

My man Glaus does it again, another rbi.

diaz pops up

Diaz

pops out

patience seems to be gone

Quick math

Heyward’s OBP now up to .645.

with an OPS of nearly 1.450

6-3 our team

Chip and Joe were just talking about Heywards number and getting rid of that 71 when he gets into the bigs. I’m in favor of just putting the letter “X” on his jersey and calling him matches cause this man and meant to be played with.

ain't not and

my iphone tried to predict that for me

Nice, I like the idea..

Although, Jason X was such a stupid film, and I would be reminded of it everytime Heyward came up…

Good point. Perhaps a skull and cross bones then?

Ideas on who should lead off this year?
Melky or Diaz or Prado with Heyward batting 2nd

Heyward nearly has to hit 2nd with his OB% in front of Chip and Glaus

Diaz/Cabrera

Conrad, Freeman, Blanco in the game
EOF, looked sharp.

what’s happening?

Ross up, to begin the inning.
and almost got a long ball.
Thanks.

I am stuck at work with no video or audio. :(

Been there done that this ST, ugh
Dan Meyer (ex-Brave prospect) in to pitch
Big piece in the Tim Hudson deal

Complete steal in retrospect.

Ross flies out deep to Center, about 395 feet, 1 OUT
Brandon Hicks singles to RF
GIDP Freeman
So Freeman took the pitcher's spot...

…and the pitcher is now hitting fourth? Knew I should not have counted on MLB’s box score being correct, lol.

correct, they'll probably use PH in his old spot

FF is breaking my heart….I now this is not his year, but still

Well

He’s not showing any power, but he does have a .391 OBP this spring. Not bad for a guy that is definitely a year away.

He hit a "HOME RUN" then over ran the runner, so he's not doing too bad power-wise..

He really should have the same amount of HR as Heyward, however, a base running error turned the HR into a single. Other than that, he’s doing very well for such a young guy. Heyward is spoiling us!!!

I'd forgotten about this.
Freeman was too busy admiring his shot lol

The runner was too busy standing at 1st, 2 dumb moves

very true….I think def. next ST we will be much more positive talk!

Know that feeling,

but he is young, maybe he will be the future 1st baseman, just not this year.
I’m hoping he continues to improve in the minors.

Oh, and for the record

Braves have the best spring OBP in the major leagues. By about 20 points.

The reason for this...

…could be signing Glaus and getting rid of OBP drains like FYF and FUGA, but we all know the real reason is that Heyward’s glow radiates off on the rest of the lineup.

Wagner hitting 94 MPH
1 weak ground out to 1st, 1 K
Hell yes!
101?
Pitching Billy the Kid in the 6th?

I’m pretty sure he brought his gas for that.

I hope Wags has a good outing.
101 on the radar gun, Wow
Wagner just hit 101 on the gun.
Wagner just hit 101 on a high fastball out of the zone
Holy Cow
The fan reaction at the stadium was classic

There was a bit of an exclamation watching that pitch, then a general cheer when the 101 reading went up on the scoreboard with some applause. Wags was just grinning.

Yeah, that was classic
Wagner at 96 with the K... yikes...
I'll just let you stick with the play by play.
it's all good man lol
K on a 96 MPH fastball
He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack..
Wags looked Great.
1,2,3 inning.. 2 k's
Wagner

dealing

kickin' ass and takin names!!
Now I can't wait for the Kimbrell Show
Wags, I was concerned,

not anymore!

Conrad up to start the inning, Heyward up next
Man, brooksie is battling here

full count.

Conrad with the WALK
Conrad showing patience.
everybody showing patience
Heyward

up to bat

Heyward with another big cut and miss..

I’m 450 miles away and felt the wind off that swing

Heyward another big cut and miss...
BIG FLY

Coming up…

Wait, did Wagner really just hit 101MPH?

Did anyone spot Heyward rubbing Wag’s head before he went out there?

That swing and miss took the breath out of the Ump

I think I just felt it…

Man oh man what a swing.

Yayy! Now I can say that’s what she said, when someone says that!!

Heyward

K’s swinging on 3 pitches

4 pitches
he swung at 3

right…but the first pitch was a ball

Heyward K's swinging hard.. 3 misses
Jay-Hey K's
Given his last two AB's...

…I wonder if Heyward decided he just needed to get some swings in regardless of whether they were pitching around him.

Might have been the case

Especially against the lefty here.

Diaz would smacked the crap out of that ball…

If Heyward avoids the tough lefties this year, he could possible hit > .320..

now

we need to see how he rebounds

We'll probably have to wait...

…until tomorrow; I assume he’s done for the day.

His line for the day

is 1 for 2 2R, 2B and 1K, right?

well

i meant against a lefty. Like if he missed those spots like that i wonder if teams have found a hole in his swing. they looked like 3 fastballs

Hey guys. What have I missed so far?

patience

a lot of 4-5 pitch at bats.

Wagner hit 101

Heyward K’ed swinging and missing at 3 straight pitches

Cabrera failed in the lead off spot

I think it’s important that he struck out vs a lefty

right

but 3 fastballs essentially

Wow…Wags hit 101??? Anyone doubting his health now?

What’s the score?

But we learned that our outfielders can actually throw this year...

It’s a major step up from last year.

Wags at 101 and Heyward being awesome

Bad first inning for JJ, then he pitched 2 good ones. Our O helped him out by getting the 3 runs he gave up and more.

Wags looked Great!

Almost forgot…Heyward threw a guy out at 3rd

oh yea

Ross showed his super arm catching a runner stealing.

....

heyward swings and misses 3 times. apalachicola, florida reports wind gusts of a billion miles per hour.

I would come to TC just for the Heyward jokes!
yea hes def done for the day

3 abs.

im liking this. chipper is def gonna benefit from heyward and glaus in the lineup.

he actually

had 4. One hit, Two walks and a K

You mean 2

2 walks, a hit, and a K = 4 PAs, but only 2 ABs.

Moylan in

1 quick out

Just noticed

Ross doesnt wear Knee Savers . . .

bobby cox cursed at an umpire and cheered his players
Moylan with a K
Lol

“Was that Dave?”

naming a pitch Dave sounds like something Lincecum would do while driving home

chino cadahia...

somehow fit his foopa into his uniform.

Im excited

about the pitchers working on new things

Wagner and Moylan working on a Change Up

Huddy working on every pitch known to man lol

btw

whatever happened to Hanson’s Change Up. I thought he was supposed to be working on it last year

I haven’t heard, but I’d guess he would only break it out in special occasions.

hmm

i wish he would develop it more.

same

even if it wasnt filthy, he could throw it once or twice every inning to keep it in the hitters minds.

He probably realized how well he throws that 12-6 and put it off for a while. Would be great to have him add another dangerous pitch though.

Moylan has been straight filthy.
aside from that hit Saito gave up

all of our BP locks (Saito, Wagner, EOF, Moylan) are looking great.

yes sir. I wanna see Kimbrel pitch. I’ve never seen him throw.

he’s scheduled today

Really?!

Yes. A good surprise!

Venters and Kimbrel both scheduled, probably just one of the will pitch, hope it’s Kimbrel

1?

we have to pitch 9 innings and its the bottom of the 7th

Both will pitch

we’re the home team. We still have the 8th and 9th to go.

No wonder my buddies call me dumbass

How many pitchers do you think will make the team?

Just wondering how many spots are open.

5 starters, 7 relievers

Locks: Hudson, Hanson, Lowe, JJ, KK (starting rotation)
Wagner
Saito
Moylan
O’Flaherty
Medlen

2 spots open by my count-another LOOGY is desirable.

Well, the locks are:

Wagner
Saito
EOF
Moylan
Medlen (I don’t see how we couldn’t keep him after the spring he’s had)

So…2 spots. My money is on Chavez and Reyes, with Proctor coming up in May and (hopefully) Kimbrel in June.

Peter looked great, inning over

ADVANTAGE – Talking Chop!

I feel bad for the Marlins

They have no fans.

its kinda funny too

cause they’re easily one of the best run franchises in baseball.

If they had a decent fanbase

To the point that their payroll could stay in the $50 MM range, they’d be competing every single year.

without a doubt

I saw something about the Marlins home grown all-star team since 1996 (or whenever they came into the league). It was crazy good.

They came in the league in 1992, I am pretty certain. You know we could both probably spend 20 seconds and google it, but that is too easy.

wow, kinda sad

anyone think

that if the team doesnt find a good internal option for a 2nd LOOGY that we’ll sign someone like Mahay or Beimel?

I mean I would like Dunn to make the team but he hasnt been to impressive. same for Reyes who has shown he isnt dependable in the bigs

only on a minor league contract, but every other team in baseball would take them too. LOOGYs are so damn inconsistent. Ohman was great for us in 08 and he was horrible/injured all of 09.

And I’ve also heard Beimel is a douchebag to fans and in the clubhouse, so I’m not too interested.

I don't think so

If we don’t have another worthwhile lefty, we’ll just send Dunn to the minors and go with one LOOGY. Wags is a lefty, so he could used situationally if the 8th inning looks to be full of tough lefties and the 9th would be bottom of the line-up guys.

Dunn would get time to work on stuff in the minors and we might bring him back up later.

i doubt it. with Saito needing some extra days of rest we will prob be using Moylan and EoF as Set Up men a lot

oh wait

i forgot about Venters.

He could be the sleeper pick for the 2nd LOOGY

Just to be sure, everyone saw that we brought back Smoltz, right?

yes

now we just gotta tie up Brian Jordan and lock him in a closet until November.

Reyes has shown he isn't a starter

I’d bet he makes a decent LOOGY though.

I think JoJo would make a fantastic closer.

too bad

we have Wagner and Kimbrel

only in desperate times
Reminder:

We’re MLBN tomorrow too!

Thanks Ill remember to record that one..

venters looked pretty good

I just have one question for all you guys and gals:

Is Ed Too Tall Jones, too tall?

Does Charlie Daniels play a mean fiddle?

I like the

Helton/Fowler/Twitter commercial……

Does Elmer Fudd have trouble with the letter ?

And do the Waltons take Way Too Long to say goodnight?

Matt Diaz

“Anything you came to camp to work on?”
“Yeah-Crossword puzzles!”

Yep, he is so funny,lol
Matt Diaz is awsome

Easily one of my favorite Braves players of all time.

Yeah, he will be one of the guys I tell the grandkids about, and they’ll be like “Who is that Papa?”. Then I’ll tell them, I saw Jason Heyward’s first season and they will shit bricks..

Venters

moving up in the votes for 2nd LOOGY

Thuston with a single
Blanco makes the final out of the inning.
Anyone else out there thinks we've given Blanco enough times to prove he can be consistant at the plate?

I still have no idea why he’s still on the club.

in his defense, he had one hell of a WBC. I think they are holding out hope that the player that played last April will be the guy they see again. Although, he is great insurance for a CF injury.

I was p90x'ing.. How did Hicks reach?? And is Venters pitching well?

What kind of soup do you have?

Kimbrell in to pitch!!!
now we're cookin'!
KIMBRELL

Lets go Lil Wags!!

its only Spring Training

everyone is a little rusty

Relying only on the TC play-by-play.

Noone can blame you. We were only told about the strikeout.

how did JJ give up the 3?

From what I’ve read scrolling through this, he was up in the zone in the 1st and then got better in the 2nd and 3rd and had a good changeup working.

How did he give up the 3? Any walks involved? Any HRs? Or just a bunch of hits?

Thanks

PS – Heyward needs to eventually be hitting 2nd this year

all his pitches were up and the Marlins weren’t missing.

Kimbrel

finishes the game.

Kimbrel ends the game with a K!
Kimbrel and Medlen could pass as 8th graders.
and extras for iCarly
what the hell is an iCarly?

tv show? movie?

lol.. tv show!
ha

What happened to good shows for kids? I miss the good ol shows like Sesame Street, Blues Clues and Rugrats.

Our bullpen looked great today

So heres to a bullpen of

Wags
Saito
Moylan
EoF
Medlen
Kimbrel
Venters

Might be the best choice of relievers I’ve seen

Looks good to me!
We can afford to wait on Kimbrel.

He’s gonna have some control kinks this year, better to have them at AAA instead of the spotlight.

i guess

but at the same time Chavez is doing much worse than Kimbrel.

Kimbrel is like a Gonzo to me. Gets it done just with drama

Kimbrel is still young enough to remember bad innings. Those thoughts might get to him more with 30,000 people watching…

We have quite a selection of bullpen arms ready to go, so no need to rush our future closer to be a 6th bullpen guy.

Our fellow Talking Choppers had a great game to attend.

I can’t wait until tomorrow , another TV game, yes!

i know

we are getting spoiled this week. Makes me wanna be a Yankee’s fan

we're basically the Yankees this week lol

EVERY GAME ON TV, WORKING EVERY COUNT AT THE PLATE, AND WINNING

Good Tmes, thanks - see you tomorrow!
WORD.. Thanks everybody that passed the game onto the one's without MLBN
We are...

…looking good!
