Jesus Wins Game for Braves

That's right Jesus Sucre gets the walk-off hit for the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday afternoon, as they beat the Mets in the bottom of the 10th. That Jesus is of course pronounced "Hey Zeus," and not "Geez Us," like the resurrected son of God. Other than that the game was a mishmash of typical spring training veteran blowups, with Derek Lowe and Takashi Saito having rough outings. That headline, though, had to be posted.

My first thought, when I saw the headline..

seriously, was, "Bobby must have let Heyward pinch hit….

That’s EXACTLY what I thought.

Move over Hanson ...

there’s another Jesus in town.

So what was the final ruling?
Was it a walk-off HR or another one of those over the fence singles?

Single

He didn’t round the bases

Sadly, the latter. He never roundedthe bases and the final score was 7-6. He didn’t even get the 2nd RBI.

Jesus Sugar

Reverse it to Sugar Jesus and he could be a member of the Wu-Tang.

haha

I like taking Spanish names and translating them literally. My two favorites are Jose Mesa (Joe Table) and Felix Pie (Happy Feet). I think Jesus Sugar might be up there though.

technically, felix does not mean happy at least not in spanish…it does mean happy in latin though

Well, yeah, but it’s not like there are any semi-Spanish Christmas songs to set us straight.

that could work

doesn’t the adjective precede the noun in Spanish?

Yes.

But this is a proper name.

Sucre

Is he one of the many catchers brought in to handle ST pitchers? Where will he play this year? MB, Miss, Danville, Rome or Gwinnette

He split last year between Rome and MB and was actually a little better at MB. He could go back there again, but my bet is he moves up to Mississippi to start the year.

He was an SAL all-star last year while at Rome and went to Myrtle after the all-star break.

Match up him and Boscan maybe?...

He seems to be coming along the best of that group of non-Bethancourt below AA Cs. Maybe the future backup or trade piece?

Thanks to all

I had seen the name but knew nothing about him. Sounds like I’ll see him eventually vs Chatt at AA.

We can hope :)
It was so COOOL getting that result via the game thread.....

I was at work and did the HAPPY DANCE!!!!! GEAUX BRAVES!!!!!!

i think u spelled “GO” wrong there…don’t worry its no biggie

I think it’s spelled how it ought to be. :-)

Black and Gold

to the Super Bowl!

No love for Meds, Kimbrel and Gearrin?

Those 3 pitched some good innings, yeah. Meds didn’t give up a hit, Kimbrel struck out 2, and the announcers kept going on and on about Gearrin’s delivery.

Cory Gearrin = manliness.

Gearrin is a beast. I think he makes it hard for them to break camp without him.
I really wanna see him pitch

I’m going down to Orlando to catch a few games at the end of Spring Training, i hope he sticks around until then. I’ve wondered why he’s rising faster up the ladder with the numbers he’s putting up. The scouting reports on him when he was drafted indicated he was future closer material.

Somehow, though, he’s gotten stuck behind Kimbrel in the pecking order. I hope though, that both of those guys can work to make Acosta a sunk cost at some point.

Don’t nobody fuck with the Jesus mane
