Every other Monday (or Tuesday, whenever really) this off-season Talking Chop presents the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. This poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, general playing ability on the field, and of course during the off-season, how our off-season is going. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

I'm staying at 7
Until we fill an OF spot with a decent bat.

I can’t give it anymore than that without any moves made either by FA or trade this offseason.
1. We don’t know if Chipper’s retiring or not. It’d be good to know prior to the Winter Meetings to know that’s a need then wait till spring training.
2. Wags said he’d retire. So will he?
3. Keep Lee till Freeman(or someone else) is ready or look elsewhere. Possible big bat.
There’s the obvious potential holds at CF and LF although I think McClouth stays at CF. We could always use an arm in the bullpen. Shipping Kawakami back to Japan would be nice, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

I meant holes at CF and LF.

I find your post very surprising.
1) I thought that Chipper said late during the season that he was definitely playing next year. Barring a completely debilitating injury in the future, I expect him to complete his contract which has 2 years left on it.
2) Every word I’ve heard from players and Wagner himself is that he will not play again.
3) Not seeing this as a possibility given the desperate need for outfielders and the limited money the Braves can spend.

1. Chipper has stated also that if he doesn’t feel right or what he considers playing form then he more than likely will retire.
2. People can change their minds. See Brett Favre.
I agree with you on the last one. I was just throwing that one out there. I also know they have a limited budget. Too bad we can fire the owner and replace them with an owner who’ll care about the team.

Still 8.
I like most pieces of the puzzle, other than Liberty. Yeah, we have some holes to fill, but I’m optimistic Wren can get it done (within the confines of his budget). The core and farm are very solid, though, for the most part.

a little late for this isn't it?

It’s the offseason so my FC resets to default level. It will go up as the offseason progresses into spring.
UMDBHIK - November 2, 2010
Still 7
10 for pitching
6 for hitting & fielding
-1 for uncertainty about Chipper returning.
Darin H - November 2, 2010
Wouldn’t that make you a 15 then?

Still waiting for that OF bat.

I ended the season at 7, and where I go from there will depend on what the Braves do. The offseason officially started last night, and it’s too early to tell just yet.
