I remember when the Braves lost the WS in 91 and 92 and lost in the NLCS in 93 I Cried. I guess I've just gotten so used to losing in the playoffs now that it doesn't even phase me anymore.,
sooo much… but I am saying it now… with all of the blown calls this offseason, I refuse to watch again if some form of expanded instant replay is not instituted.
Not watching anymore would take a lot of meaning out of my life—but I’m definitely not giving MLB any more money until they shape up and stop letting umpires ruin games.
Conrad better hope and pray the Braves don't lose this series. He would forever be mentioned with the likes of people esuch as Buckner. What a horrible legacy to leave behind.
It’s somehow fitting that Melky ends it on a useless chopper.
It’s also incredibly fitting that Bobby, a man who is known in part for his contentious dealings with umpires, retires in a series where the umpires did their damnedest to ensure that Bobby’s team could not advance.
but we’re hurting right now. Especially since we didn’t want to see the end of Bobby’s career come so soon. It will be weird not seeing him again, but we will always remember the man he was, which was highlighted tonight when Derek wanted to stay and Bobby let him. Bobby probably thought it was a mistake but that is the way Bobby is, a man who believes in his players. If no one here can see why that made him a great manager, then I personally don’t think you’re a fan of the Braves.
Braves games with Bobby as the umpire were something that brought me and my grandfathers together. It’s really hitting me hard right now realizing that it’s over.
Bobby Cox thanks for all you done for the Braves the last 20 years
you will be miss. Thank you 2010 Braves for making the last few months go by with more ups than downs. It was amazing. Made me realize why I love the game of baseball.
Braves have lost 8 straight postseason elimination games at Turner Field. The Braves have been unbelievably horrible in the playoffs every year since 1991, not including 1995.
How old are you? I remember going to Braves games in the late 80s that were lucky to have 2,000 people there and we were lucky to win 50 games. To take offense at the fact that the Braves have made the postseason 15 of the last 20 years just shows your age and your lack of understanding of how difficult it is to get into the playoffs and how much of a crapshoot the playoffs are. Any team can win a best of 5/best of 7 series. Hell, even the Royals and Pirates will take on occasional series from a top team.
I’d love to see several, but I also don’t anticipate much.
Think about it, the pitching staff is set.
1b, 2b, 3b will not see any changes unless Chipper decides he can’t make it (not happening).
RF is taken.
SS could change, but I doubt it with the cheap option (not arguing whether it’s a good idea, but the Braves I think will probably pick up his option.
And the bullpen might see a veteran or two signed, but otherwise is probably set.
Only LF and CF are likely to see any real change, unless we unload a SP (which I believe we would do if Medlen was healthy) (I don’t include KK there since he won’t be much loss and won’t net much in return).
They won’t get a 1b with Freeman there unless he stinks in AFL.
I still think they honestly will pickup AGonz’s option. Right or wrong, I think they’ll do it for 2.5 mil. Shoot, even if they want to replace him I’d pick up his option.
I love the idea of having him, but I don’t think he wants to be a backup, and generally if Freeman does anything in the AFL and in Spring, they’ll be wanting to get him lots of ABs.
Didn’t complete that thought. For 2.5 mil, I’d have no problem with him as a backup. Plus no matter what Braves fans think, plenty of baseball guys think he’s a good defender which means he’s got trade value.
Yeah, I wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t pick up Gonzo’s, but as I argued the other day, I think that as much as we need to upgrade in LF and CF that the money it would take to replace a SS is needed to get a legit LF and CF.
Wren will sign someone like Burrell or Guillen. I love Frank, but unless he pulls the deal of a lifetime, we’re gonna be stuck with ass clowns like that.
Couldn’t agree more. Roger has really made some awesome adjustments to our pitchers this season. Unlike our hitters who have not once changed their approach.
It’s been a great season, and i want to thank all the folks here at TC for making this site the greatest site on SBnation. You guys do a hell of a job…and I’m proud to be a member. I’m also proud to be a fan of the Atlanta Braves. It’s only going to get better next season…bank on it.
(After getting a good hitting OF and a good fielding CF)
Signing some of our young guys to long deals. We’re are in win now mode for sure, we’ve got the team for it, but I think we also need to be in win now AND later mode, b/c we’ve got the guys for a long run if we can hold em.
Going to try and control these tears and take the rest of the night off. Going to go out tomorrow night and have a few drinks to remember this great season, and most of all, reminisce about the great career that Bobby Cox had.
Heyward with a full season of experience.
Hanson in his 3rd season.
Huddy, Lowe, Jurrjens, Minor, Beachy, etc. in the rotation.
Prado with another year of experience.
McCann with another great season….
1b: Freddie
2b: Marteeeeeeen
ss: Seabass
3b: Chipper
OF: JHey, Diaz?/McLouth, and ??? (hopefully a run at Werth or Crawford)
C: BMac
Bench: Infante, Hinske, Ross
SP: Huddy, Lowe, Hanson, JJ, Minor or Beachy (that’s a sick rotation…)
RP: Venters, Kimbrel, EOF, Moylan, Dunn…
ok… needed to do that… take a look at the future as an exercise to get me out of the funk that game/series left me in…
that was one hell of a season, full of ups and downs, never a dull moment… and the future sure does look bright. Thanks Bobby! you’re the only manager Iv’e ever really known as a Braves fan, and it’s going to be weird not hearing you yelling encouragements from the dugout next year. You helped build an amazing franchise that we fans can be mighty proud of.
Perhaps ill-informed, or misguided you feel, but I do not see how it’s racist? What race are the folks at TGP hating on?
The reason why people outside of Atlanta have some… Distaste for, and find the Braves mildly racially charged is the name and the tomahawk chop. It’s sort of a P.R. disaster if you look at it from the outside.
You guys chased Chief Nocahomer outta town because it was basically a minstrel show, and rightly so. It’s time to retire the chop as being a relic of a differently, less enlightened time also.
i can only stomach cheering for the giants in the series against the phillies tho…then it’s for whichever al team gets thru…as much as i hate to say it

JC29 - October 11, 2010
Heyward
Has played like Frenchy. Ugly.
Jman781 - October 11, 2010 via mobile
No
French wouldn’t have taken a pitch
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
7H 2 Runs, Giants: 4H 3 Runs
Kobe:The Legend - October 11, 2010
Gotta throw out everything you have. But first have to hold them down here.
Mardale261 - October 11, 2010
Venters
another inning…
UltimaParadox - October 11, 2010
VENTERS AGAIN??????
MikeTrain - October 11, 2010
Why not?
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
That was my reaction, exactly.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - October 11, 2010
That lefty-lefty matchup sure worked again.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
I remember when the Braves lost the WS in 91 and 92 and lost in the NLCS in 93 I Cried. I guess I've just gotten so used to losing in the playoffs now that it doesn't even phase me anymore.,
BravesFan2010 - October 11, 2010
facepalm, we can still win this
MBL1 - October 11, 2010 via mobile
Jesus, more Venters? I guess this is Bobbys last chance to overuse him.
roberty - October 11, 2010
Heyward has been absolutely pitiful.
Teheman - October 11, 2010
I have lost respect for turner field
they just played Tik Tok, heard it when they came back from commercial
MBL1 - October 11, 2010 via mobile
So it’s more or less irrelevant since, well, yeah, but why is Venters still in there?
Does Bobby want his last achievement to be making sure he can never pitch again?
Ivan the Great - October 11, 2010
And, we have 7 hits to their 4
NCChopper - October 11, 2010
and 2039 less lucky calls.
Creek Johnson - October 11, 2010
Except
They capitalize on their breaks, we just like eating LOBster.
Jman781 - October 11, 2010 via mobile
Cox
you really are a piece of sh*t manager. Thanks for ruining Venters. Enjoy retirement dickford
NorCalAtlFan - October 11, 2010
Slow down son
We weren’t even supposed to be in the playoffs this year. We’re two plays away from winning this series.
Londonjoe - October 11, 2010
We are?
Oooh you’re a giants fan. I get it.
roberty - October 11, 2010
No dude, braves fan since I could be one
met and played catch with Andruw Jones when he was in the Minor leagues, and that pretty much sealed it.
Londonjoe - October 11, 2010
No he is an actual Braves fan
which you seem to forget when we are down 1
Virginia9er - October 11, 2010
Look at this team
with all the injuries nobody would have blamed us if we didn’t even make it
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Venters nice to see you, I will see you again in 2012
Kobe:The Legend - October 11, 2010
actually bob
David ross can hit
MikeTrain - October 11, 2010
Just not like McCann
which was his point I think
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Classic case of Postseason chokeitis by Heyward
TheBraveDude - October 11, 2010
because he’s been to the postseason sooo many times before. He’s a kid. Look at the pressure on him. Who are you, I’ve never seen you before. Go away.
MBL1 - October 11, 2010 via mobile
LOL I was kidding about letting Venters finish the game…..Jesus Bobby you hate his arm.
bpk228480 - October 11, 2010
wowv venters is ruined for sure
MikeTrain - October 11, 2010
Believe!!
TurnerTheBurner - October 11, 2010
that really hurts you know.....
Hektor DiPaula - October 11, 2010
Bobby has LOST what's left of his mind -
WHY the HELL is Venters out there for a 3rd inning?
NCChopper - October 11, 2010
We have Kimbrel and Beachy
NCChopper - October 11, 2010
To get out one lefty.
Though he failed.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
Because, once again, Aubrey Huff hits lefties better than righties.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - October 11, 2010
I only said why, not that I agree with it.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
I know. My comment was more of a criticism against Bobby Cox. He doesn’t even bother looking at stats – ever.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - October 11, 2010
Yeah, old school to a fault.
But I still like him, and hope he has a great retirement (preferably later rather than sooner).
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
He’s not. Don’t you see the stat line? He recorded 0 outs that inning, so it doesn’t count as even 0.1 IP.
EricGreggWasPaidOff - October 11, 2010
I love baseball
sooo much… but I am saying it now… with all of the blown calls this offseason, I refuse to watch again if some form of expanded instant replay is not instituted.
knarf - October 11, 2010
Not watching anymore would take a lot of meaning out of my life—but I’m definitely not giving MLB any more money until they shape up and stop letting umpires ruin games.
Ivan the Great - October 11, 2010
Huff hits lefties better this season
how many times must you make the same mistake bobby
bpk228480 - October 11, 2010
He has hit lefties and righties essentially the same this season, and has hit righties much better in his career.
The Goche - October 11, 2010
Conrad better hope and pray the Braves don't lose this series. He would forever be mentioned with the likes of people esuch as Buckner. What a horrible legacy to leave behind.
BravesFan2010 - October 11, 2010
dont blame it on Brooks...
NO ONE showed up to hit in this series…….
Hektor DiPaula - October 11, 2010
Brian McCann says hello from the bench
leedawg - October 11, 2010
Omar Infante is holding on line one.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
everyone but braves and giants fans will forget about this series once it's done.
not as important as the WS
toppleprone - October 11, 2010
Yeah...
We can only hope that a bad call costs the Yankees the WS.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
I agree. This is not as big as the NLCS or World Series.
rubbles88 - October 11, 2010
Make a few routine plays and that stigma isn't attached to you.
TennesseeQuackAttack8 - October 11, 2010
Paul Emmel and Ed Hickox are just as much at fault.
Ivan the Great - October 11, 2010
In the Braves defense
the Giants staff is no joke.

When the Braves season is over….whenever that is
KJDH2154 - October 11, 2010
So he can finally put his arm in a sling, covered in icepacks, not moving it for 4-5 months, and praying it doesn’t fall off?
EricGreggWasPaidOff - October 11, 2010
Something like that
KJDH2154 - October 11, 2010
Ugh, this is awful.
Teheman - October 11, 2010

NCChopper - October 11, 2010
I don’t think the Braves or Giants can win a single game against this Phils team. They’re saving us all four games of misery.
roberty - October 11, 2010
You gotta feel good about Kimbrel taking on the closer's job next season.
Carlos Marmol in red and blue!
SS451 - October 11, 2010
I kinda think it's going to be a timeshare
with him and Venters
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Really?
Venters will be carrying his arm to work in a briefcase.
Creek Johnson - October 11, 2010
Venters has been lights out all year
and Kimbrel has some control problems. It should be at least at the start
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Maybe at first.
I think he’ll prove himself. Not that Jonny isn’t great, but he doesn’t quite have the high heat and strikeout stuff you like to see in your closer.
SS451 - October 11, 2010
Trevor Hoffman had a pretty good career...
With far less heat and strikeout stuff than Venters.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
True.
I think I’d be comfortable with closer by committee, too. Or with Venters taking it himself. Or Kimbrel alone. We’ve got lots of good options.
SS451 - October 11, 2010
Agreed on all counts.
Pitching looks great for next year.
Again.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
I hope not.
I think it is better to have one designated closer.
BravesFaninAZ - October 11, 2010
Agreed.
But then, who knows how the next guy will manage.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
Yes indeed.
NCChopper - October 11, 2010

I mean, what the hell good does it do a fan to say, “we’re through.”
Is it just so important to you to sound smart or to not be a homer that you just have to call it as soon as the situation gets rough?
In any case, when you say it’s over down 1 run you just sound like a moron.

We all do...
but we’re hurting right now. If no one here can see why that made him a great manager, then I personally don’t think you’re a fan of the Braves.

you will be miss. Thank you 2010 Braves for making the last few months go by with more ups than downs. It was amazing. Made me realize why I love the game of baseball.
romone_braves91 - October 11, 2010
We will miss you Bobby, you are irreplaceable
Jtpdolphins2009 - October 11, 2010
Wow, we'll miss you Bobby.
I cant explain my emotions after that game and wow, bobby’s gone
saipol - October 11, 2010
In the end though, the injuries were just too much for this team to overcome
That and the winning run in both games 1 and 4 for the Giants were scored by guys who should have been called out, but it is what it is
Jtpdolphins2009 - October 11, 2010
Excuses, Excuses. If we had DEPTH, then injuries wouldn't be such a big issue would it ?
BravesFan2010 - October 11, 2010
yo will u shut up already?
Albert K - October 11, 2010
Would you please give it a damn rest already
Virginia9er - October 11, 2010
GTFO
You suck at life
-InsertWittyNameHere- - October 11, 2010
We had depth
that’s why we made the playoffs. Nobodies 3rd team is good enough to win a series and we still were in every game
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Doesnt matter if we lost the game 20-0 or 2-1. A loss is a loss.
BravesFan2010 - October 11, 2010
shut the HELL up you useless twat
I WILL END YOU
NJoverNY - October 11, 2010
and you are still a jerk
Jtpdolphins2009 - October 11, 2010
Not true AT ALL
This was not an embarrassing way to go out. The rest of the world knows the Giants got EXTREMELY lucky to win this series.
DreamWithinADream - October 11, 2010
I don't know if I would say lucky
but they had to work their butt off for almost every run
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
both the winning run in game 1 and game 4 were scored by guys who were out with the proper call
but the umpire missed the call
Jtpdolphins2009 - October 11, 2010
Notice
almost every run
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Shouldn't you be playing in the freeway or something?
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
GET THE F OUT YOU PHONY BASTARD!
FitzFan - October 11, 2010

Sir Veza - October 11, 2010
Props for not missing an opportunity
jdmarine - October 11, 2010
Are you bi-polar? One minute you're for the Braves the next you hate.
We had depth, but it can only cover up for so long.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
Thank youfor everything, Bobby. It’s gonna take me a little while to get over this series.
Teheman - October 11, 2010
Braves have lost 8 straight postseason elimination games at Turner Field. The Braves have been unbelievably horrible in the playoffs every year since 1991, not including 1995.
BravesFan2010 - October 11, 2010
Please ban this classless piece of shit
Virginia9er - October 11, 2010
Done.
Scott Coleman - October 11, 2010
Appreciated, sir...
DolphinNation - October 11, 2010

Sir Veza - October 11, 2010
yay!
-1 - October 11, 2010
how old are you, seriously?
a hooter's baby - October 11, 2010
Im glad you're only a Braves fan for 2010
If even that….
JC29 - October 11, 2010
Seriously??
How old are you? I remember going to Braves games in the late 80s that were lucky to have 2,000 people there and we were lucky to win 50 games. To take offense at the fact that the Braves have made the postseason 15 of the last 20 years just shows your age and your lack of understanding of how difficult it is to get into the playoffs and how much of a crapshoot the playoffs are. Any team can win a best of 5/best of 7 series. Hell, even the Royals and Pirates will take on occasional series from a top team.
AuditDawg - October 11, 2010
You’re stupid.
MBL1 - October 11, 2010 via mobile
well
see you guys some in the off season…
UltimaParadox - October 11, 2010
well it was an up and down season
but i wouldnt have it any other way… its why baseball is the best sport in the world
ChitownBravos - October 11, 2010
aww man...
im so emotional right now…. not for how the series went… but because of how it would had went…. Damn i missed chipper and odarp…..
Hektor DiPaula - October 11, 2010
I hate it but
Lincecum v. Halladay is gonna be a good matchup
a hooter's baby - October 11, 2010
Yea it will
And I, personally, couldn’t give a shit. Haha
Virginia9er - October 11, 2010
anyone watching the rest of the playoffs....?
Hektor DiPaula - October 11, 2010
I will
read about it
-InsertWittyNameHere- - October 11, 2010
Yes I know
I am not a huge baseball fan outside of watching my team though. But i understand the appeal
Virginia9er - October 11, 2010
I'm rooting for the Rays. When they're out, i'm out.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
not me
Sir Veza - October 11, 2010
I might watch a game or two with some Gigantes fans I know out here, but otherwise, footbaw, volleyball, and school.
AllSaintsDay - October 11, 2010
what playoffs?
I’m officially in football mode now
B4TheFlop - October 11, 2010
Nope.
I’ll be rooting for the AL team.
TonyAlmeyda - October 11, 2010
No
I may read about it, a little.
BravesFaninAZ - October 12, 2010
im going to go punch something soft very hard now...
see you all in the spring
ChitownBravos - October 11, 2010
wow,
I can’t believe I’m crying this much
Hudson's Soul Patch - October 11, 2010
Too many errors
Its way too hard to win that way, Braves almost got it done, but It’s very very difficult to do so
KJDH2154 - October 11, 2010
Interesting to see what offseason moves Braves will make.
rubbles88 - October 11, 2010
hopefully significant ones
just a few additions will make us legit contenders
TheBraveDude - October 11, 2010
We need backups who can field better.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
I agree. OF is probably the priority.
rubbles88 - October 11, 2010
The Goche - October 11, 2010
We need a guy who can hit for power
whether it be at 1st base or outfield
Jtpdolphins2009 - October 11, 2010
Hell of a season Bravos! Can we announce Fredi as the new manager now? jk
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
YES!!!!
KJDH2154 - October 11, 2010
It was a hell of a run boys.
I haven’t been more proud of a Braves team since ’95.
It was a pleasure spending most nights with you folks in the GT. I know we don’t always agree, but that’s what makes this site and baseball so great.
Go Braves.
Scott Coleman - October 11, 2010
+googleplex
Albert K - October 11, 2010
It was a great run
and I know this is the start of something special for our beloved Braves.
DolphinNation - October 11, 2010
THIS!
NCChopper - October 11, 2010
Agreed
Most fun I’ve had following this team since the mid-90s. Thank everybody here at TC for making this one of my most enjoyable seasons.
AuditDawg - October 11, 2010
Damn good run.
A lot of fun. See you next year.
BravesFaninAZ - October 12, 2010
The Braves are going to have to make some HUGE moves in the offseason if they plan on competing with teams like the Phillies next year.
BravesFan2010 - October 11, 2010
insightful. thank you for that.
toppleprone - October 11, 2010
Have you seen our pitching
Not HUGE, a few key additions. Someone put this guy in the FO
Virginia9er - October 11, 2010
FO is fine without this jokester
fandave - October 11, 2010
we competed with the Phillies all season long, again down the stretch our injuries killed us
you say it is an excuse?
Look at the damn lead we built when the Phillies were injured
IF both teams are healthy in the playoffs, we are just as good as they are
Jtpdolphins2009 - October 11, 2010
shut your face
MBL1 - October 11, 2010 via mobile
He's been banned
No reason to pile on when he can’t read it…
DolphinNation - October 11, 2010
You know what?
I’m not even disappointed we lost. I hate we didn’t win these last 2 games.
But damn. We had a make-shift lineup for the last month or so of the season. We made it to the playoffs and had a shot.
Can’t ask for much more (winning being the “much” part).
Lets enjoy the fact that the Ted looks PACKED and nobody can say how spoiled Braves fans are anymore.
We’ll miss ya Bobby (In a crazy grandpa kind of way!)
<^> to the haters.
I’m out!
Sir Veza - October 11, 2010

NCChopper - October 11, 2010
Do we have a rosterbation thread we can go to? Like immediately?
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
tell gondee to get it up and running
Albert K - October 11, 2010
Not gonna lie
Didn’t think we would even win one game this series. We gave it our best with half of our bench starting. Great fucking season boys.
bpk228480 - October 11, 2010
Yup
and we won 1 and tied 2 so it was great.
Virginia9er - October 11, 2010
this
Our pitching got us this far. Offense needs to be the priority this offseason, for sure.
DolphinNation - October 11, 2010
That was a great season! we could be the best team in the NL next year!
We only have one really glaring hole at 3rd (if Chipper calls it)! I thought it was great, and way above expectations.
Londonjoe - October 11, 2010
Damn straight! We’re one hitter away from dominating the NL!
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
hopefully we can rob the rockies, who have too many good infielders and not enough money
Londonjoe - October 11, 2010
Who could we potentially rob from the Rox?
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
Where exactly would we put an IF?
The Goche - October 11, 2010
SS? 1B?
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
They won’t get a 1b with Freeman there unless he stinks in AFL.
I still think they honestly will pickup AGonz’s option. Right or wrong, I think they’ll do it for 2.5 mil. Shoot, even if they want to replace him I’d pick up his option.
The Goche - October 11, 2010
And honestly
I wouldn’t mind hanging on the Lee for one more year
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Me either. I like him
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
I love the idea of having him, but I don’t think he wants to be a backup, and generally if Freeman does anything in the AFL and in Spring, they’ll be wanting to get him lots of ABs.
I wish Lee could play 3b or something.
The Goche - October 11, 2010
Nor would I.
Though I wouldn’t be surprised to see him return to the Cubs.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
Didn’t complete that thought. For 2.5 mil, I’d have no problem with him as a backup. Plus no matter what Braves fans think, plenty of baseball guys think he’s a good defender which means he’s got trade value.
The Goche - October 11, 2010
Sorry, I spaced Freeman.
And I agree about Gonzo, but it’s not a done deal.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010
Yeah, I wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t pick up Gonzo’s, but as I argued the other day, I think that as much as we need to upgrade in LF and CF that the money it would take to replace a SS is needed to get a legit LF and CF.
The Goche - October 11, 2010
cargo and tulo....!!!!!!
Hektor DiPaula - October 11, 2010
Our biggest need is definitely in the OF
s.r.j - October 11, 2010
Wren will sign someone like Burrell or Guillen. I love Frank, but unless he pulls the deal of a lifetime, we’re gonna be stuck with ass clowns like that.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
I agree. We need a legit hitter(or two) to add to the OF
s.r.j - October 11, 2010
Not gonna happen
but Crawford would be perfect
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Gotta think we’re gonna trade a young pitcher: Beachy, Jurrjens, Minor, etc. if we want a decent return.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
Wouldn't be a bad thing
their future is not guaranteed. For all we know we’ve already seen JJ’s best year
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Gonzo on the rockies
but apparently they are super high on him now
Londonjoe - October 11, 2010
It’s been one helluva a ride. I’ll always have fantastic memories from the 2010 Braves (especially getting to be at opening day)
BraveSaluki - October 11, 2010
If/when Fredi comes on
you think the bench coaches remain the same? I love TP but we could maybe use a shake-up at hitting coach.
JayF - October 11, 2010
Hell no. TP has to go. Need some fresh blood. I like McDowell though.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
I do hope Roger stays
The Goche - October 11, 2010
this
so much… I gained a lot of respect for Roger this year, he really is a gret pitching coach
knarf - October 11, 2010
Couldn’t agree more. Roger has really made some awesome adjustments to our pitchers this season. Unlike our hitters who have not once changed their approach.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
Totally agree! We saw much growth in young Venters, Kimbrel & Dunn.
Plus Lowe is finally looking like himself again.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
So do I but
the offense has been a weakness for too long
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
i think you're the only one with a love for TP.
toppleprone - October 11, 2010
as a man
not as a coach
JayF - October 11, 2010
TP was a great player and a great Brave. But we desperately need a new hitting coach.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
I want Leo back!
Albert K - October 11, 2010
If Chipper can't play
He’d make a great hitting coach
-InsertWittyNameHere- - October 11, 2010
Player/(hitting) coach!!
DolphinNation - October 11, 2010
No way
He has to spend too much time on both his swings
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
+1
rubbles88 - October 11, 2010
Anyone know of any good hitting coaches looking for jobs?
NCBraves - October 11, 2010

“The Braves have now lost six straight series. What’s wrong with them?”……..Luckily, John Kruk of all people, put him in check
a hooter's baby - October 11, 2010
What did Kruk say?
s.r.j - October 11, 2010
He said that they’ve battled injuries all season and the fought til the last out. The new manager will have something to build on, like McCann
a hooter's baby - October 11, 2010
What happened?
DreamWithinADream - October 11, 2010
Nevermind this is not even the same team as last time.
I hate Ravech! He’s a stupid pot stirrer.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
I've always thought Ravech was a douche.
Tarkus - October 11, 2010

rubbles88 - October 11, 2010
Most thrilling postseason series I have ever seen
Braves were right there with a B-squad. Umps and bad luck fucked them. It’s okay.
I won’t be watching the rest of the postseason. It was great chatting with you guys. Loved that I found TC.
DreamWithinADream - October 11, 2010

Albert K - October 11, 2010
I think I would rather they got blown out .A few plays/calls the other way & the Braves boozing it up right now.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
Nope I like it like this.
Everyone knows the Braves deserved better.
DreamWithinADream - October 11, 2010
Yeah but it's beyond frustrating!

I’m amazingly not choked up. I think I came to peace with it. It was surprising but it’s gonna be weird not seeing him in the dugout.

BullManUGA - October 11, 2010
The best/worst part is
The Giants didn’t beat us. We beat ourselves (along with helps from the umpires).
BTW, This is Classy!
Sir Veza - October 11, 2010
What hurts the most was
that in every game we were one play away.
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Giants were very classy about saluting Bobby Cox
Kudos to you Giants, good luck in the NLCS
Jtpdolphins2009 - October 11, 2010

FitzFan - October 11, 2010
Agree 100%. Vazquez sucked major ass this year for the Yankees.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
He's gotta be hurt. His balls look dead while floating to the plate.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010
Oh well, we at least got Dunn and Vizcaino. they shafted us with Melky.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
-wins
JV or Melky? I think JV
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Oh, JV 100%!
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
from the beginning
I looked at this as a trade for Vizcaino and Dunn… and ya know what, we shafted them.
knarf - October 11, 2010
Yep. 3 good (1 great) prospect for possibly dead-armed Vazquez. Looks great now!
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
THAT’S. WHAT. SHE. SAID.
Sir Veza - October 11, 2010
Ha ha. That was to easy.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010

JayF - October 11, 2010

BravesFaninAZ - October 12, 2010
2nd biggest offseason priority
(After getting a good hitting OF and a good fielding CF)
Signing some of our young guys to long deals. We’re are in win now mode for sure, we’ve got the team for it, but I think we also need to be in win now AND later mode, b/c we’ve got the guys for a long run if we can hold em.
The Goche - October 11, 2010
Good thing for the young guys
They tasted it…now they’ll stop at nothing to get back!
Richie Grogan - October 11, 2010
Haha
Hopefully they’ll do better than the young guys in ’05. (They are better though, so that helps).
The Goche - October 11, 2010
less of a bridge, more of a rebuilding project bearing fruit.
Londonjoe - October 11, 2010
Charlie Manuel is such a douche bag.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
well, yeah
but why this time?
Londonjoe - October 11, 2010
Just saw an interview with him on TBS. Just made me think about his (and the rest of the Phillies) sheer douchiness.
NCBraves - October 11, 2010
Yeah, they are so arrogant! After 2 years they act as though they're the '27 Yanks.
FitzFan - October 11, 2010

Great Season
Going to try and control these tears and take the rest of the night off. Going to go out tomorrow night and have a few drinks to remember this great season, and most of all, reminisce about the great career that Bobby Cox had.
See you guys next year.
Go Braves!
B4TheFlop - October 11, 2010
Just think guys…..
Heyward with a full season of experience.
Hanson in his 3rd season.
Huddy, Lowe, Jurrjens, Minor, Beachy, etc. in the rotation.
Prado with another year of experience.

If it’s any consolation, at least it wasn’t the Phillies who ended Bobby’s career. We’d never hear the end of it from their fans.
I’d like nothing more than to watch the Phillies go down in flames.

this
The “classy” people at TGP are nothing but racists. It takes them .000001 seconds to bring up race in a blog about baseball.
Sir Veza - October 11, 2010
I absolutley HATE that website
Hudson's Soul Patch - October 11, 2010
Erm, how are they racist?
Perhaps ill-informed, or misguided you feel, but I do not see how it’s racist? What race are the folks at TGP hating on?
The reason why people outside of Atlanta have some… Distaste for, and find the Braves mildly racially charged is the name and the tomahawk chop. It’s sort of a P.R. disaster if you look at it from the outside.
Imagine if there was a team called the San Jose Japs, and when they were batting played http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8d/AsianRiff_koto.ogg while all their fans pulled the corners of their eyes up. You’d go “That’s pretty racist.”
You guys chased Chief Nocahomer outta town because it was basically a minstrel show, and rightly so. It’s time to retire the chop as being a relic of a differently, less enlightened time also.
JamesFromPhilly - October 12, 2010
I have to agree with this.
Surely there is something novel we can come up with to replace the chop.
BravesFaninAZ - October 12, 2010
agreed
i can only stomach cheering for the giants in the series against the phillies tho…then it’s for whichever al team gets thru…as much as i hate to say it
