Pretty much all Braves fans need to know about Madison Bumgarner is that no Braves player has ever faced him in the Major Leagues. That should immediately send 80% of TC readers into a sweaty panic. Oh, and he's a lefty, and we've had such good luck against left-handers in the past 24 hours.
Actually, every time I hear or read his last name, Bumgarner, I want to say it with that Jon Stewart "Droopy Dog" voice: Uoo, Buumm-garrner <as I readjust my tie>.
Here is how the Giants did against Derek Lowe in game one of the series:
| Batting | AB | R | H | RBI | BB | SO | BA | OPS | Pit | Str | Notes |
| Andres Torres CF | 4 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | .250 | .500 | 14 | 11 | |
| Freddy Sanchez 2B | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | .000 | .000 | 8 | 7 | GDP |
| Aubrey Huff 1B | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | .333 | .833 | 16 | 10 | CS |
| Buster Posey C | 4 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 1 | .500 | 1.250 | 18 | 10 | 2BSB |

| Nate Schierholtz RF | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |||||
| Juan Uribe SS | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | .000 | .333 | 16 | 8 | |

| Team Totals | 26 | 1 | 5 | 1 | 4 | 9 | .192 | .531 | 122 | 71 |
I'm guessing we'll see Mike Fontenot instead of the Panda, but other than that it will likely be the same lineup.

IS Derek Lowe a big-game pitcher? The verdict, tonight at 11.

Anyone see this line from Tim Brown's yahoo article on Brooks?
You know, “rapped” probably isn’t the best verb to use when “butt” is the noun.
/apologies if this has been brought talked about.
Gamecock'n'Balls - October 11, 2010
Ross at catcher, Diory at 3rd, Diaz in LF, load up on RH hitters and be ready to sub-in when Bumgarner gets pulled.

Time to rally for our Braves!!!
This series is not over! I have faith and please, no matter what, if you are at the game don’t boo our players. Each and everyone of them has done something that otherwise we would be watching the Padres playing. This qoute from Moylan sums up how unnaccetpable it is…
“That guy has done more for this club than anybody ever gives him credit for, and it pisses me off to hear the crowd boo, when throughout the whole year, if they just look back, he’s one of the main reasons why we are here,” Moylan said.
C’mon guys, let’s send this one back to the Wild West!!!
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
Like it or not, if the guy isn’t being booed while suffering a serious or even life threatening injury and he’s not dealing with some personal tragedy behind the scenes (ie. death of a family member), it’s just part of the game. Of course, then again you have a class of athletes in this particular sport who say things like how the fans “owe” it to the players to buy tickets and come to games. So no, I’m not surprised at all that Moylan reacts this way.
There are 2 ways to fix this issue.
1) Cox could keep him out of the lineup.
2) Conrad could get his crap together and stop choking on everything hit his way.
Either one would stop the booing. Or I guess he could just get so many hits that he overcomes his own fielding incompetence, but he has yet to do that in the series.
Zontar - October 11, 2010
I just don't see the point....
Possibly the last game of the season and it is a fact that we aren’t here without the contributions of Conrad. Booing does nobody any good right now.
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
BOooooOOOoo
Trek - October 11, 2010
Giants fan here
Gondeee,
I think seeing Fontenot at 3B again is all but assured. We might also see Renteria at SS instead of Uribe.
Cheers
Goofus - October 11, 2010
Let's do this.
We’ve been bouncing back all year just gotta do it again. I believe. Hope The Ted is packed and rocking again to support these guys. Go Braves!
MattyO - October 11, 2010 via mobile
Win today and Wednesday for Brooksy! Then his errors will be but a minor side note to what has otherwise been a great series.
I hope the crowd cheers him today; I think it would really help him.
TonyAlmeyda - October 11, 2010
I think it definetly would…let all the Braves know we believe in them. All three of these games could have gone either way to either team… we are still very much in this.
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
yea if im at the game tonight
even as pissed as i was that he made the errors, there aint a reason to bring the guy down even more, time to cheer him and get him playing alot better
bravesfan1047 - October 11, 2010
He needs to pinch hit...
And the place needs to go insane with support
And he needs to hit a walk off home run
SuperNewb - October 11, 2010
LET'S FUCKING DO THIS!!!
SuperNewb - October 11, 2010
I'm feeling the jittters already!
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
Is there really any reason for the braves to take the field, they should just forfeit. I mean listening to everyone comment and reading all the articles, the braves have already lost the series.
Can we get some positivity please? These guys have given us one heck of a fun year and we have a lot to be happy about no matter what happens. I am not one of those guys who say “winning ain’t everything”, but fact is we did win a lot of games this year and Conrad had a lot to do with a few of them. So let’s be fans and not critics, and let’s keep this great season going!!!
rookiefan - October 11, 2010
I have mixed feelings about the booing. I do understand the fans booing after the 8th error in the last 7 games. That is completly unacceptable. If one of us performed on our job like that we would be fired. And it is the fan that pays the bills. Do you think that baseball is played just for the fun of it? On the other hand it doesn’t help to boo and I actually feel bad for the guy. It obviously is in his head now.
SBURROUGHS - October 11, 2010
If it was the regular season I might boo, but just to get the point across that there are no free passes. But we are in the playoffs and Brooks and the Braves didn’t design for it to be this way. The fans knew going to the game last night that Brooks is a defensive liability. All booing does at that point is make a guy who feels like shit feel even shittier.
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
What's everyone's guesses at tonights lineup?
I got:
Infante
Heyward

Ankiel
Hernandez

Glaus

SBURROUGHS - October 11, 2010
I don’t know why I think this, but I think that Cox starts Conrad again. Well, I atleast bet that Cox has talked to Brooks, and if Brooks has no confidence in himself he won’t start him, but I bet if Brooks seems sure in himself he gets the start.
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
You don't know why you think that?
Hint: Could have something to do with Cox’s well known over-loyalty to his players.
SuperNewb - October 11, 2010
yeah, well….
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
I hope that he does start tonight. I also hope that the fans give him a nice round of applause and that lifts him up and then he lifts the braves up. He can do it!!
SBURROUGHS - October 11, 2010

Holy crapoli
Heyward’s back in the 6th spot. Unbeatable.
jbeachbum24 - October 11, 2010
agreed. I remember the damage he did there this season. Everyone talks about Posey’s rbi numbers but they forget that Heyward is hitting in the 2 hole while Posey is in a run producing spot. Very excited about this line-up. Go Troy Glaus
rcates - October 11, 2010
WOW. If that is it that is wild. Although I think it will do some damage
rcates - October 11, 2010
By the way....
If someone had told us that our season would now be on D Lowe’s back half a season ago, what would our reaction have been? And now?
