Refresh this post all night for an inning by inning recap of NLDS game two between the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants.
Top of the first
Tim Hudson and the Braves are in their Sunday red jerseys, and the Giants in their road gray. Andres Torres singles over the infield to center field to start the game. Torres off with the pitch might have shielded Brooks Conrad who bobbles the ground ball double play chance off the bat of Freddy Sanchez. Another error by Brooks, his sixth in the last seven games. Aubrey Huff swings and misses for the first out. With Buster Posey hitting, both runners try and steal, and Brian McCann guns down Torres at third for the second out. Buster Posey works a walk from Hudson, and on a very close pitch, Pat Burrell also works a walk to load the bases. Juan Uribe ground out to Omar Infante to end the threat, but Hudson threw 24 pitches this inning.
The rest of the game after the jump...

Bottom of the first
Infante fouls out behind first base for the first out against Giants' starter Jonathan Sanchez. Jason Heyward strikes out swinging. Derrek Lee works a walk, he has now walked all four times he has faced Sanchez in his career. Brian McCann works the count to 2-and-2, but strikes out looking on a nasty breaking pitch.
Top of the second
Mike Fontenot hits a high fly ball to right that kept carrying. Heyward drifted back battling the sun and got a glove on it near the top of the wall as he crashed into the wall. Fontenot ends up at third base with a triple, as Heyward stays on the ground for a while, then gets up and talks to the trainer and Bobby Cox for a long time before they finally deem him fit enough to continue. He may have hit his head against the wall, and in the heat and sunshine he may have been woozy. Cody Ross pops up to short right field, and with Heyward not at 100%, Conrad tries to make the over the shoulder catch and drops the ball for his second error in as many innings; Fontenot scores from third. Sanchez tries to lay down a sat bunt, but Hudson makes a diving catch for the first out. Torres ground to second, but with the runner going the Braves can only get one out at first. Sanchez walks to put runners at first and second, but Burrell grounds out sharply to Lee to end the threat. Hudson has already thrown 40 pitches through two innings. Giants 1, Braves 0
Bottom of the second
Matt Diaz works the count full, but flies out to right field. Alex Gonzalez strikes out swinging on a ball in the dirt, and Conrad flies out to right center field for the third out. Sanchez at 36 pitches.
Top of the third
Posey hits a come-backer that goes off of Hudson's glove for an infield single. Burrell strikes out swinging on a high and inside fastball. Uribe ends the threat by grounding into a 5-4-3 double play. Hudson needed that for an easy inning, he's now at 52 pitches -- a much more economical inning.
Bottom of the third
Rick Ankiel strikes out on a pitch low and outside. Hudson also waves wildly on a pitch in the dirt for another Braves strikeout. Infante grounds out to the third baseman to end the frame.
Top of the fourth
Fontenot grounds out to D-Lee unassisted. Gonzo makes a terrific sliding stop on a play up the middle, whirls and throws to first to retire Cody Ross. Sanchez strikes out swinging to end another easy frame for Huddy (61 pitches).
Bottom of the fourth
Heyward flies out to left field on the first pitch. D-Lee pops up to the shortstop, and McCann strikes out swinging on a ball in the dirt.
Top of the fifth
Torres grounds out to second, Sanchez flies out to the center fielder, and Hudson gets Huff at first unassisted. Hudson is cruising now, and has been economical with his pitches the last few innings, currently at 71 pitches.
Bottom of the fifth
Diaz drives a ball the opposite way just shy of the warning track for the first out. Gonzalez strikes out swinging on a high fastball, and home plate umpire Paul Emmel rings up Conrad on a check swing without appealing to first base. the eighth strikeout for Sanchez.
Top of the sixth
Posey slaps a single just past the glove of a diving Infante at third. Burrell flies out to Heyward in right, and Uribe flies out to Diaz in left. Lee knocks the ball down at first, and recovers in time to flip to Hudson for the final out. Hudson at 85 pitches.
Bottom of the sixth
Rick Ankiel flies out just shy of the warning track in right field. Hudson breaks up the no-hitter with an opposite field single just in front of the right fielder. Infante strikes out swinging; another Braves hitter to fan on a ball in the dirt. And just like that, Heyward swings at strike three ... in the dirt.
Top of the seventh
Ross gets jammed and pops up to Hudson just off the mound. Sanchez strikes out, but Hudson walks Torres after some questionable check swing calls while throwing his 102nd pitch. With Sanchez hitting, Hudson throws to first a half dozen times, but Torres still steals second on a close play. The stolen base doesn't matter as Hudson rallies to strike out Sanchez. At 106 pitches, this will likely be all for Hudson.
Bottom o f the seventh
D-Lee works a full count, but strikes out on a ball that was almost in the dirt. McCann also works a full count, but grounds out to second. Diaz grounds out to third on the 100th pitch from Sanchez.
Top of the eighth
Everyday Jonny Venters on to pitch for the Braves, he's appeared in every NLDS game. Huff singles up the middle just past a diving Conrad, foiling the lefty-lefty match-up. The Braves finally retire Posey in this game with a three-pitch strikeout. Nate Schierholtz, who took over defensively a couple of innings ago, allows another lefty hitter to single against him. Venters then strikes out another righty, Uribe, swing at a slider in the dirt. Venters finally gets the better of a lefty batter as Fontenot waves at a nasty slider with a full count.
Bottom of the eighth
Sanchez is back out there to start the eighth. Gonzalez leads off with a solid single the other way past the leaping try from the second baseman Sanchez. Conrad attempts to bunt the runner over, but on a high fastball he pops it up for the first out. The right-handed hitter Troy Glaus comes on to pinch hit for Ankiel, and that prompts Bruce Bochy to make a pitching change and bring in the left-handed reliever Sergio Romo. Bobby Cox counters that move with pinch hitter Eric HInske. That moves works to perfection as Hinske hits a go-ahead two-run home run. WOW! Melky Cabrera pinch-hits for the pitcher and slices one down the left field line, but Ross makes a nice running catch for the out. Infante fouls out to the catcher, but Hinske does the damage. Giants 1, Braves 2
Top of the ninth
Craig Kimbrel on to try and close it out for the Braves. Melky stays in to play left field, Nate McLouth takes over in center field. Conrad calls off D-Lee to get Ross on an infield pop-up. Travis Ishikawa pinch hits and works a walk. Kimbrel bounces back and gets Torres looking on a backup slider for strike three. Sanchez singles back up through the middle over the pitchers mound. Bobby makes another call to the bullpen to bring on Michael Dunn for the lefty - lefty match-up against Huff. Aubrey comes through with a one-strike single to right that scores the runner from second on a bad throw to the plate from Heyward, tying the game. McCann comes up the first base line to get the throw and trips over a bat. He was checked out by the trainers and stays in the game. Cox goes to the bullpen again for Peter Moylan. Posey hits a ground ball that goes through legs of Brooks Conrad and scores the runner from second to give the Giants the lead. Conrad's third error of the game. Cox makes another pitching change, bringing on Kyle Farnsworth, who strikes out Schierholtz to end the inning. Giants 3, Braves 2
Bottom of the ninth
Giants closer Brian Wilson on to close the game. Heyward strikes out looking at a pitch about six inches off the outside corner of the plate. That's the seventh strikeout for Heyward in this series. Lee pops up to shallow center field for the second out. McCann keeps the inning alive with a single off the glove of a diving Sanchez. David Ross comes on to pinch-run for McCann. McLouth grounds out to second to end the game.

Diory RIGHT NOW!!!
Nathan Lowery - October 10, 2010
pull conrad now
unbelievable
Stephen M - October 10, 2010
Left handed pitching
The Braves are in trouble today because they can’t hit left handers? maybe we might get lucky?
jayball - October 10, 2010
Braves may win this game, and maybe the series…but jebus, they suck. I’m trying to remain positive, but this is just painful to watch.
Drinky McDumbass - October 10, 2010
Brooks Conrad
Gold Glove second baseman?
Tacodude - October 10, 2010
Was this serious?
Russ - October 10, 2010
Lefties?
We can’t hit anyone. It is so hard to watch this team.
Spazio Elutherius - October 10, 2010
Holy Shit..
We’ve looked TERRIBLE this entire game / series.. thank god our pitching is good because our lineup is something to laugh at
maizebaseball10 - October 10, 2010
Bobby Cox
I would think Bobby would change some players to try to get hits from somebody if the giants don’t blow the game open?
jayball - October 10, 2010
This is the worst constructed post season team I have ever seen. Don’t we have some minor league second baseman we can bring in for some defense? Jesus F-ing Christ.
roberty - October 10, 2010
dumb ass moves
Between Bobby Cox and Brooks Conrad How can This team win?
jayball - October 10, 2010
Too bad we won game 2.
roberty - October 10, 2010
bobby cox sucks
good thing he’s retiring because he’s losing it.
BronxBraveFan - October 10, 2010
we have a 2nd baseman: INFANTE
helllo?
BronxBraveFan - October 10, 2010
WTF?
Why is Ross running with McLouth batting?
Jesus. right/lefty isn’t everything bobby.
Ross is our best hitter on the bench.
McLouth is a horrible batter, but at least he has some speed.
roberty - October 10, 2010
This is my least favorite Braves team of all time. Why even include McLouth on the roster?
roberty - October 10, 2010
Conrad and the home plate umpire sucked the whole game!
Diory has to start tomorrow instead of Conrad.
deewill23 - October 10, 2010
+1
Nathan Lowery - October 10, 2010
Fuck Brooks Conrad.
That will be all.
FlyYouFalcons - October 10, 2010
I say yess to Diory fuck it Conrad just fkn sucks!!!!
cali viking - October 10, 2010
Both my teams suck today
Terrible day… ugh
k2spitfire88 - October 10, 2010
just stop!
if Wagner didn’t strain his oblique, we would have won! so shut up about Cox and Conrad!
southman - October 10, 2010
REALLY?
You blame this on Wags? You must be a Mets fan to be that air headed
Okie Brave - October 10, 2010
no I'm not blaming him
I’m just saying it’s the closers behind him’s fault
southman - October 11, 2010
/anti-rec’d
TonyAlmeyda - October 10, 2010
Most retarded thing I've read
(on this thread)
schlagdawg - October 10, 2010
I welcome all of you on the 1 bandwagon for tomorrow’s postseason confidence poll. No more Conrad please, Bobby.
redwards95 - October 10, 2010
But what if your confidence is less than one?
roberty - October 10, 2010
My confidence is pretty high
The Cox era is almost over.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Hahaha good one.
roberty - October 10, 2010
I still can’t figure out why in the world Kimbrel wasn’t allowed to pitch more. Him being taken out, coupled with umps bad calls and errors cost the Braves the game, and perhaps the season.
Joseph_C - October 10, 2010
not sure what umpires bad calls had to do with hatchet job Conrad causing 2 unearned runs and a failed sac bunt that Hinske helped bail him out on. Kimbrel being taken out, who the F knows. Unbelieveable.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
The umps wide strikezone on Heyward, mighta made a difference, but Conrad and Bobby are what sunk the game.
Joseph_C - October 10, 2010
YAY STRIKEZONE
schlagdawg - October 10, 2010
That is a fucking joke.
This game will never be properly called until MLB gets serious about that situation.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
I’ve only seen two or three bad calls on pitches this entire post season, and those were on pretty close pitches. The ump today had no consistency at all.
roberty - October 10, 2010
Emmel
Called a really shitty game. He gave Sanchez a lot of extra room off the plate and rung Heyward up on a clear ball in the ninth. He managed to suck at second, first and home during this series. It’s almost impressive.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
damn it
HeyMikey - October 10, 2010
IS THIS A DREAM??!! PLEASE BE A DREAM
Now the haterz come out, good lord.
Yes Conrad sucks at D but the series isn’t over.
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
I wish it was over. I only hope we don’t win this series. I don’t want to watch this god awful Braves team lose four more games to the Phillies. Seriously. Get it the fuck over with.
roberty - October 10, 2010
For real. The thought of watching this team get crushed by the Phillies makes me want to vomit. Lose tomorrow and get busy with the remodeling please.
redwards95 - October 10, 2010
Ideally
Whenever this season ends, we’ll be able to concentrate on younger players and stop shoving every singe fiber of the team into yet another vain effort to win one last Series for Bobby Cox. That’s been the root of most of the personnel mistakes for the last several years.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Yeah, swap Ankiel for McOut, after last night’s game, and Ankiel’s earlier effort got close to going out. May be just me. Who cares.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Mike Dunn and Nate McLouth are my heroes.
McOut is the thorn in this team’s toe, that Bobby refuses to pull out, and will ultimately fuck us over, as I’ve said, all along.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
^^This is the reason I hate most Braves fans
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
You forgot “…because Pendleton won’t let him…”
Keep up your consistency, dude.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
truth hurts, muchachos.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
That doesn’t even begin to make sense.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
What doesn’t? Nate McLouth totally sucks, dude. And Bobby sucks for putting him in there in a crucial situation. Everyone already knew the outcome. You could see dozens of fans putting their hands on their heads as he came up to bat, all saying, “Oh no….”
what about this do you not understand?
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
You missed the point.
I was none too happy to see him or Melky in the outfield at the start of the inning. I was giving you a hard time because you’ve spent the biggest part of the year blaming everything, from the weather to the prices a Chik-Fill-A on Terry Pendleton.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
that’s not true. i just have a life and get off the computer. i don’t do game threads.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Neither do I
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
However, I still believe it would benefit the Braves to part ways with TP and McCout.
sure.
that’s just my opinion, tho.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Would love to know two things:
1) Why wouldn’t Bobby let Kimbrel save it or lose it – what a bunch of overmanagement BS. Kimbrel is the guy that gives you the best chance to win, and surely the book told you his career split is only 10 points RH vs LH.
2) How did this butcher Conrad ever make it to the majors?I don’t care how many f-ing pinch hit grand slams you might get lucky enough to hit, if you can’t field the ball in a basic manner then get the F out of the major leagues.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
his meaning Huff's*
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
He’s shoulda stayed on as a PH.
Joseph_C - October 10, 2010
maybe – debatable.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
worse Braves defense I've seen this year?
Brooks Conrad really sucked in this game and the offense when are the braves going to start hitting? Bobby Cox took that Kid out,at least let him pitch to another batter?
jayball - October 10, 2010
This is seriously the most poorly constructed roster in the history of the post season baseball. We have five outfielders who can’t hit, three first basemen, two shortstops and ZERO FUCKING SECOND BASEMEN. Jesus. Wren really fucked us on this one.
roberty - October 10, 2010
STFU and get out you bum
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
this guy doesn’t take kindly to any constructive critisicm, what-so-ever.
lmao.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
besides, it’s always boils down to McOut.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
If Kimbrel gets that last strike neither one of you are talkin crap. But since Kimbrel makes a mistake and Conrads error Braves lose and now blame WREN? If anything blame the injuries or just grow a pair and take it like a man.
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
It is Wrens fault. This team is not constructed to win. Our utility players have been forced into starting roles. OK, that’s fine. We can work around it. But failing to include backups for the defensively hapless Conrad and Infante, well, that’s just negligent. Coming into this series we knew how bad of a fielder Conrad is. Instead we have a bunch of big fat pinch hitters who don’t really play a position at all.
roberty - October 10, 2010
I’m right. Our pitching works so hard and this poor excuse for a team fucks it up every chance they get. This team was constructed with no thought given to defense at all. Why are there so many first basemen on this team???
roberty - October 10, 2010
You’re missing the big picture, man. If ownership wasn’t pushing as many pennies as they are right now, we would still have Kelly Johnson. Just saying.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Dont go to this shit again. Kelly sucked at D and you know it
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
KJ
Is the first guy I thought of when Conrad butchered that fly ball early in the game.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Do you two work as a team? I like it.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Like a wise man once said
Truth hurts.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Each quote is gonna cost you $3.75, from now on.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
I've given you
Two shout out/thumbs up type reactions elesewhere. We’re agreeing a lot, all things considered.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Come on MAN – have you watched one fucking game this year before October 1st? Two, TWO, regulars from the opening day starting lineup were there at the end of the season and this team made the playoffs. Conrad is a 4th or 5th infielder, much like Cabrera is a 4th OF. In general, at least Melky can catch the ball if it comes to him. Conrad, he may be lucky to start the season on the 25 man next year.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
Exactly, if you’re forced to start a bunch of utility grade bench rats for an entire post season you had better use some roster space for defensive replacements. Instead we have an extra outfielder who can’t field or hit, and a bunch of out of shape first basemen.
roberty - October 10, 2010
If any team lost two starting infielders they would find themselves in the same spot.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
If Conrad is playing tomorrow, there’s a good chance I won’t watch the game.
TonyAlmeyda - October 10, 2010
I am sick to my stomach thinking about ever seeing Brooks Conrad in a Braves uniform again.
NCBraves - October 10, 2010
Questionable Pitching Moves in 8th and 9th
How can Cox justify using 3 of his most inexperienced relievers in such a crucial game? Why didn’t he rely on his most experienced relievers in the 8th and 9th? The inexperienced guys should have been used in favorable situations (lefty vs. lefty, etc.).
technobrave - October 10, 2010
Cox fucked up.
We’ll have to win teh next two.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Nothing wrong with going to Kimbrel – the guy has dominated ML Hitting since the day he came up. The BS back and forth matchup crap just stings me to no end though.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
It's always a great sign
When the network color guy tells you that the lefthanded batter, who the lefty pitcher is brought in to get out, hits better against lefthanders. This is publicly available information. It would be really awesome if there was a manager who would, y’know, take such things into account.
Bobby and his Gut: ruining my octobers for two decades, now.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Yep. This year Huff is .296 vs .287 (better against LH) and for his entire career the split is only .10 (better against RH). It doesn’t make sense at all to play matchup in that situation. Especially if you are replacing your dominant rookie with a less than dominant rookie. The matchup BS is the biggest farce in the game unless you have a guy who is considered a show stopper from one side. Biggest bunch of CRAP and it makes me sick.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
All true.
Most managers have learned new ideas sometime after 1964, so it doesn’t happen that much with other teams.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
He’s had 40 strikeouts and 16 walks in 20 innings this season. When the walk totals come down, I’ll call him dominant.
technobrave - October 10, 2010
Craig Kimbrel
technobrave - October 10, 2010
What are his numbers
Since he came back after closing at Gwinett all year? He’s looked dramatically better.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
I’ll take 18 K/9 as dominant, we can agree to disagree.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
How has he done with inherited runners this year? I know his ERA is less than 1.00, but you can’t really draw any conclusions with 20 innings pitched
technobrave - October 10, 2010
well, RH hit sub .100 (yes, .100) and LH hit .176. He started the inning tonight, so I don’t know why you care about inherited runners that much (and I don’t know if bR has a split for it), but with 2 outs opponents hit .167. I’ll take that. And FWIW, Dunn was good in those situations, but not as good as Kimbrel.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
I literally couldn't believe it
When I saw Cox point to his left arm. I would have been far more confident if he had brought Moylan in.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
These stats look good, but the sample size is very small. I’m more concerned with runners that other pitchers inherit from Kimbrel. How many of his walks led to earned or unearned runs? What do his projected strikeout and walk totals look like for an entire season?
technobrave - October 10, 2010
We can debate Kimbrel’s dominance, but he did his job tonight. I just think most managers would go with their proven relievers in the 8th and 9th inning of a home playoff game.
technobrave - October 10, 2010
Fair, but I think Kimbrel earned and proved himself plenty. He shoudl have been in and he should have finished, win or lose.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
It’s almost like the ninth inning was scripted to point up our injury losses. No Wagner, so we got that farce from Cox after he pulled Craig, then we are forced to notice, again, how much we miss Martin by Conrad’s error.
I would ask what Hernandez ever did to make Cox hate him but it’s at least as likely that Bobby has simply forgotten he’s on the roster.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
This.
Why is Diory on the roster if we don’t put him in when we’re up in the 9th? Why? I am also tired of Bobby’s insistence on the lefty-lefty and righty-righty script. If you’re willing to burn 4 pitchers in an inning, why can’t you burn Diory? Horrible management.
Jman781 - October 10, 2010 via mobile
When we...
win the next two games all of these negative fucks should be banished for the NLCS. I’m sick of it. We had a devastating playoff loss tonight. It sucks. There are a lot of things to blame. I support this team no matter what happens or how bad the loss is. We regroup, go out tommorrow and try to force a 1 game series. LET’S GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ledge2 - October 10, 2010
I respect you thank you
Braves will win the next two and I wont stop giving shit to these negative piece of shit fans.
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
Hey, new guy....
chill. Some of us are negative because of the one guy that should have been cut 3 months ago…..
I have 0 confidence in McOut, offensively or defensively. And I will conitnue to voice my displeasure when he fails in the clutch. So deal.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
I can’t believe your putting this on McClouth. You realize he got a hit yesterday right dumb shit. He is not the reason, Bobby put Ross to PR and had no other options unless if your more confident with Diory who can’t hit at all
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
Ok, Mr Know It All “Dumb Shit”,
Diory can hit better than McOut. Thank you. Come again.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Thats why Diory hit.111 this year and .141 last year. And thats why he is the only player that never plays in the game. Thank you better luck next year
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
lmao. We still lost, you freaking astroturd. So you lose too, as do I. savvy? lol.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
You have to go to astroturd, really? Face it, you got powned
PhuckthePhillies - October 10, 2010
We all got pwned, you little phucker. Phuck off.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Pal, I am a Braves fan of very long standing. I’m not giving up on anything but I am also not going to come to a Braves fan board, with other fans who are as pissed and sick as I am and write only “GO BRAVES!! WE LUV BOBBY!!”
As the Chief said,
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Hey Brad Ledge, have you thought that maybe some of the people in here are just fucking frustrated. We’re not perpetually negative, but we just witnessed overmanagment and a butcher essentially ruin the game after Hinske came through with what could have been one of the biggest hits of the franchise history. We’re ALL for the Braves here.
CharlotteChop - October 10, 2010
FUCK BUCKNER CONRAD
Now we have our own Bill Buckner!!
This should have been the clinching game for the Braves tonight!!!!
We should be talking about playing the Phillies in the NLCS right now. I sit here in just disbelief. The Hinske HR might have been the #1 moment of the year for this team, but it is all for nothing. Unreal. FUCK CONRAD!!! He sucks so bad that we should be embarrassed that he is even on our team. GO BRAVES, the Comeback kids need to pull of the biggest come back of the season and some way some how, win the next 2!!!!
BravesFan22 - October 10, 2010
Bill Buckner was the first thing that pop in my head once Conrad CHOKED.
deewill23 - October 10, 2010
Maybe we will have our own Donnie Moore, too.
roberty - October 10, 2010
That idea
Is tempering a lot of my reaction here.
Sam Jethroe - October 10, 2010
Bobby just too old
Conrad should have been pulled from the game early on in the game when he made those 2 errors. Infante should have moved over to 2nd base and Troy Glaus should have played 3rd for the rest of the game. Instead, Cox leaves in Conrad and he blows the lead and any chance at a 2nd comeback.
BravesFan22 - October 10, 2010
Perhaps the third most annoying thing of the game (Second to Conrad, and Cox’s bullpen parade) was the Freak acting like…a freak. TBS showed it three or four times.
Joseph_C - October 10, 2010
I'm so pissed right now
…Its going to take me a while to get over this loss.
deewill23 - October 10, 2010
I’ll be over it by about Spring training.
Joseph_C - October 10, 2010
I’ll be over if after the World Series…
…next year.
TonyAlmeyda - October 10, 2010
i´ll be over when we would win the WS
joshant - October 10, 2010
If Heyward gets a hit tomorrow, we win. Otherwise……

Horrible Loss
Say what you will, I’m proud this team has done as well as it has. A bunch of utility bench players, 4th outfielders and re-treads got within a strike of leading the series 2-1. Conrad needs to be replaced by Doiry and Heyward needs to get a hit or two. For a patchwork roster to be this competitive is a miracle, to get so close is just cruel.

The only reason this series has been as close as it has is the Giants are nearly as hapless as the Braves. We both have great pitching and piss poor position players.

Rabble, rabble, rabble…….

Bobby should have just let Kimbrel finish. He probably would have gotten out of it.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Absolutely, could not agree more. I kind of understand Bobby being over cautious, but it sure looks like a mistake now.
bighop - October 10, 2010
And even if he ended up not getting out of it, it would have been the right decision.

I knew Dunn was going to get lit up. I just knew it.
I was thinking Bobby was going for Moylan, and I was fine with that, for the groundout.
But I said, “Fuck” aloud when I saw Dunn. I just knew. can’t explain other than that.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Exactly.
I should be used to it by now, but I never am.

You could almost hear Brenly sigh when he took Kimbrel out. He knew, as an ex-manager, Bobby was taking away the team’s “best” chance of saving that inning. Sanchez by all accounts got lucky on the hit. Kimbrel had already got one LH out. It’s easy to say shoulda, coulda, woulda in these type of situations, but that was a gross overmanagement and quite frankly was not all that surprising that Huff got a hit.

For that brief half inning, I was thinking we were going to end it in Atlanta, tomorrow.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - October 10, 2010
Yeah, boy, I haven’t had a swing of emotions in one inning like that in a long long long time. I have not even come close to getting over it yet. I love baseball, but it can be a real heartbreaker.

I saw the pic of Brooks on the bench, by himself, head down. And I feel the EXACT same way.
