We take a moment out of the Braves day to day off-season rumblings to note that Talking Chop passed 3 million unique visits today. It's been 5 months since we passed 2 million, and eerily almost a year to the day since we passed 1 million.
I love writing and talking about the Braves and I hope all of you enjoy this little place on the web to hide out and do the same. While I would probably write about the Braves even if no one was reading, it's certainly more exciting to know that people are tuning in and not only reading but contributing.
Thanks to everyone who stops by on a daily basis and everyone who chimes in with their two cents. Thanks to Matt, Danny, and C.B. for all the help throughout the past year. We're about to take this blog thing to the next level with the Annual... finally a piece of Talking Chop you'll be able to touch and hold on to.

Congrats, Gondee! This is my #1 source for all things Braves. You do an outstanding job – and the growth and popularity of the site are direct results of the good job you do!
Looking forward to hitting that 5 million mark in the next few months!

Agreed entirely
This has been my year at Talking Chop and I have no idea how I ever made it through the off-season without it. Keep up the awesomeness.

Excellent.

although that is technically the wrong poster. The correct one pwns this one in awesomeness
GoBravesNY - January 20, 2010
Still majestic.
The Keith Lockhart Era - January 21, 2010
true, it is majestic

I tell everyone about Talking Chop
Even if my friends aren’t posting, this is where they come to get their info.
Thanks for everything you and your staff do to keep us entertained and informed.
Cracker! - January 20, 2010
I tell everyone about this site too
you do a very good job keeping us up on the news.
DrB - January 20, 2010
Same here
1st off congrats! I can’t believe how much this blog has grown even since I joined

Game Over...
CHEETAH!
I say throw a 3 milly party at the Spring Street Ballet. Just a thought.
MayorofPonce - January 20, 2010
Are you kidding?
gondeeee practically owns a bar somewhere in the sketchy seedy area of Edgewood/Auburn. If there were ever a TC ATL meetup, it would likely be there, and about four people would come out to smashed windshields.
royhobbs - January 20, 2010
I was just driving through Atl this past weekend (Stayed the night at the Indigo hotel – pet friendly, so I had no choice) and ate at the Brewery right there down the street (Peachtree St).
It was pretty nice, but I want to know where you locals go for my next trip through the city.
justincredubil02 - January 20, 2010
theres a couple bars right there on Edgewood (was at Noni’s last night, actually) but the only sports type bar is Corner Tavern?
And you don’t get yer windows busted in when you have street cred.
MayorofPonce - January 20, 2010
haha
Smoltz's Beard - January 20, 2010
I didn’t know Talking Chop existed until last summer. Happened to see it on Yahoo Sports and one of the posts got me interested.
Walker Wallace - January 20, 2010
Wow
Talk about growth … I have to agree the majority of the posters that TC is what it is because of the time and effort our fearless leader, er … uh … maybe just leader then, puts into it. Mad props to you Gondeee and much thanks for keeping the site fresh and inviting, content wise of course.
Now, if you could only get Velcro Vernacular to come back around with some more of those witty, made-up conversations she used to post. Man I miss those!
scstrato - January 20, 2010
Nice job
Keep up the good work Gondee.
playertobenamedlate - January 20, 2010
Joined about a year ago & have enjoyed it immensely. Well run, informative & the postings are shall we say quite “lively”. I have checked out other sites & they pale in comparison. Congrats on the growth & keep up the good work.

Smoltz's Beard - January 20, 2010
Thanks to all that keep this site going and growing,
since joining last Spring, very few days have passed without me checking in to get the latest, and best news concerning our Braves!
Let the games begin :)

Does this mean we passed Google?
bwellnjonesco - January 20, 2010
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, 3 million visitors and nobody can buy my book? Bastards.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010
You should have twittered it.
justincredubil02 - January 20, 2010
not like that’d make you buy it…

Its in my cart at amazon, I’m just waiting for 1 other item to push me over the free shipping mark, and then I’m gonna pull the trigger. Promise!
Rhyno18 - January 20, 2010
Have faith CB
Rhyno18 - January 20, 2010
Oh snap
Rhyno just compared your writing to Stephanie Meyer’s drivel. What are you going to do about it, cbtits?
royhobbs - January 20, 2010
Just laugh. Her writing is awful. Her plan of attack was genius however. I just loved it when Stephen King came out and attacked her. His writing is awful too. Who’s actually read a Stephen King novel? The only reason anybody knows who he is is because they made a bunch of movies based off his lousy books.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010
I've read and own quite a few
His older stuff is clearly better than the repetitive drivel he puts out now, but the stuff under his Richard Bachman pseudonym were awesome. But throughout the years, it devolved into the same old, New England setting, alien/demon/inter-dimensional being, with background people always wearing some Red Sox memorabilia. I think he completely lost his skill in relation to the 2004 Sox win, because now he has no more angst to feed off of.
royhobbs - January 20, 2010
King? Them's fightin words!
I’ve read every thing he’s written. The movies are crap. He’s actually quite funny.
TennKen - January 20, 2010
king is weird
his books suck but there have been some legitimately great movies made from them (Shawshank, Green Mile, The Shining, etc.)
Doghnut - January 20, 2010

Don’t act like you don’t love Twilight. It makes up 75% of your “game” whenever you go out to bars and hit on bartenders.

That might be why 100% of my game fails.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010

Smoltz's Beard - January 20, 2010
That and…you know, the complete lack of personality and sex appeal.

Also I don’t act like a total jerk, which is what the ladies seem to love.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010
I have a friend who recently committed himself to not being a total douche.
It wasn’t totally unappealing to me when he was, but the upshot of the whole situation is that he hasn’t gotten laid since we got back to school for the semester. Previously, he’d probably be about four deep in the last week and a half.
MichaelProcton - January 21, 2010
Maybe more snippets to drive up interest?
I’m planning on giving it to a friend as a gift once I get a little more income to have some of it become discretionary.
Mr. Sanchez - January 20, 2010
I could get another snippet up. Give me a little while to figure out something good.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010
actually that would be nice
i didnt realize there was a first snippet…I was thinking about buying it…a preview might be a good idea
Doghnut - January 20, 2010
Where is said first snippet?
The Keith Lockhart Era - January 21, 2010
Someday soon, CB, my baseball book nerdery will encompass your novel
And we shall both be better folks for it.
The Keith Lockhart Era - January 21, 2010
TalkingChop.com T-SHIRTS!!
My “It’s still 755” shirt is faded from so much wear.
We need new shirts!!
RehabReject - January 20, 2010
The Failcoeur shirts were pretty bangin'.
MichaelProcton - January 20, 2010
I'm sure there are hundreds
of lame jokes that would be worthy of turning into a shirt. But preferably one that won’t really have to worry about being (repeatedly) taken down for slander, copyright infringement or defamation of character, like the Failcoeur shirts.
royhobbs - January 20, 2010
I think a fatazfoot quote is the way to go.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010
I was thinking
Front side: NLDS MVP
Back side: GLAUS 25
royhobbs - January 20, 2010
damn copyright
how awesome would a Hewyard shirt be with the inscription “I am not left handed” be?
GoBravesNY - January 20, 2010
This is where I don’t get how copyrights work. I mean, I have a nice picture of Heyward from Myrtle Beach, that I took, which means it’s my property. So if I take the logos off in photoshop, it should legally be Ok to make that shirt. Unless I’m just completely wrong.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010
I think
That’s technically okay, more often than not, a guy like Heyward or those who represent him will want Heyward/Them to be getting a slice of the profits, so they’ll probably declare it as compromising to character, to have it removed, so that they can steal the idea, and do it themselves.
Or they could be Francoeur supporters/his wife and red-flag the Failcoeur shirt every time it pops up on Zazzle for being defamation of character.
royhobbs - January 20, 2010
I actually just watched an episode of Judge Judy all about this. (I was having dinner with my dad and grandma, I don’t just sit around and watch Judge Judy.) You can’t use someone’s image without their permission, even if you took the picture. So, even if we used a picture one of us took, along with a unique quote and design, we’d still be breaking the law unless we got permission from the person to use their image.
Now I’m really glad I got permission from Andy to use him for the cover of my book.
cbwilk - January 20, 2010
see I was thinking more towards the quote
your own pictures are yours, so there’s no reason to worry about copyright. A direct quote from a movie, on the other hand is an issue
GoBravesNY - January 20, 2010
Haha, yes, yes, a thousand times YES.
Smoltz's Beard - January 20, 2010
as good as our quotes are
we’ll never be able to top those found over at AA…or the mlbtr quote of the guy who said “Schnider/Mcccan – tie (schnider has better d)”
Doghnut - January 20, 2010
and that Joes Reyes >>> WHO?
(or something to that tune)
Scott Coleman - January 20, 2010

I still visit TC every day but too lazy to post.
yeah, I’ll do fantasy baseball

10-4 - January 20, 2010
haha, so true
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
It's posts like
This one that take me 15 minutes of company time instead of actually working
royhobbs - January 21, 2010
Ahh, the old 15 mins of research line. One of my favorites.
You know it’s an old post when you see Jug in there. Gotta love Bigjoe:
Classic.
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
Also, do you save all the hilarious threads to your computer or something? Completely forgot about that one.
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
I just have a good memory
Like of you talking about your Blink-182 piercing. I remembered mentioning David Wright in that comment, so I looked up “David Wright” in my user activity, and sure enough, it was there to pick from.
royhobbs - January 21, 2010
Well, keep it up. Old threads are always good for a laugh, and I’m certain that I’ve forgotten 95% of the funniest ones.
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
Amen.
Lizziebeth - January 22, 2010
Best Braves Site on the Web
I found this site after some ESPN writer (I forget who) did a piece on the two best blogs for every team in the MLB. I’m so glad I found that article and so glad I found this blog, and subsequently SBNation. This is the first place I look for Braves news and has what I think are the most well thought out and objectively subjective views about the Braves.
Thanks Gondee…this site rocks
foxrobe - January 20, 2010
insert obligatory complimentary remark here
but seriously great job
bpk228480 - January 21, 2010
I used to read MLBTR all the time
And would post over there. I got so tired of the dumbasses that I emailed Tim Dierkes about a good Braves blog (I found one called Bravesblast…which was updated once every 8 months or something and WhenSidSlid which was decent, but also rarely updated). He said “I hear great things about TalkingChop.” I’ve been here ever sense.
Scott Coleman - January 21, 2010
once mlbtr got really big, it became almost unbearable to read comments there
Doghnut - January 21, 2010
What ever happened to NCChopper?
She hasnt been on since late November. She was a machine in the game threads!
Scott Coleman - January 21, 2010
Good point...
Those JPEGs were the shiii.
MichaelProcton - January 21, 2010
haha
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
She said she would be back for the upcoming game threads but was taking the offseason off.
justincredubil02 - January 21, 2010
all part of grasshopper training :)
GoBravesNY - January 21, 2010
she’ll probably have 20 new pictures for every player
Scott Coleman - January 21, 2010
She is quite the talent with that stuff.
justincredubil02 - January 21, 2010
We better hit a grand slam this year
GoBravesNY - January 21, 2010
UID: 444
I think Im one of the few people left around here with a User ID #…I think SBN did away with those eventually
Doghnut - January 21, 2010
437
And for some reason, I have a really low UID at Federal Baseball despite the fact that I’ve never once posted there before.
royhobbs - January 21, 2010
I’m stupid…how do you find your UID?
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
Click your user profile
And when it shows all the blogs you’re subscribed to, if you have UID, it would say, right next to your “Member since:” spot. But I think all those disappeared for anyone who subscribed after 2007.
royhobbs - January 21, 2010
Hmm…very odd. I’ve been part of this blog before even Gondeee was running it, but I don’t have a UID. Oh well.
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
Probably
Because you took your dear sweet time re-registering after the SBN transition. Slacker.
royhobbs - January 21, 2010
Pretty sure I registered the day that the website moved. I demand to know where my UID is!
Smoltz's Beard - January 21, 2010
Oh, and by the way...
I’m not gonna be impressed until we get to three million bajillion.
