Javier Vazquez was THE MAN tonight. The Atlanta Braves rode his hot pitching to yet another win against a Nationals team that they should beat (and did). He walked just one batter and gave up only three hits, one of them a late homerun that ruined the shutout. In his last 4 starts he is 4-and-0 with a 0.72 ERA -- that's absolute dominance. I don't think we can trade this guy, no way, he's too valuable.
The Nationals gave us two runs in the first inning with some pretty shoddy (read: last place) defense. An error by our old buddy Pete Orr, a ball that was lost in the lights, and a ball that dropped in between two defenders. Those two runs were all that Vazquez needed to roll to a complete game 3-hitter.
The Braves added a run on a Matt Diaz single in the eighth, and another on a Martin Prado solo homerun leading off the ninth.
Man, Javier Vazquez was awesome. He struck out seven, two of them in the ninth inning when he looked better than he had the entire game... and that's saying something because he looked really good all game, but in the ninth he made the middle of the Nats order look like they were all Pete Orr.
...and the Braves keep on keeping their post-season hopes alive.

A Perfect Friday
A Fish, Rox and Phuckers loss, with a Braves win to wash it down.
kp.atl - September 25, 2009
truly perfect if Giants and Fish eat it
Chief Noc-A-Homa - September 25, 2009

My closet masochist side had to be satisfied today

one down
thanks Nat defense. We’ll take them any way we can get them. Of course that’s not to take away from Javy’s performance. This win should put him in top contention to be considered the ace of the team.
adc62 - September 25, 2009
He is at least
the de facto ace as of now
kp.atl - September 25, 2009
Javy is a fucking hero. I love that dude.
(Let’s not trade him.)
get swoll yunel - September 25, 2009
yeah. he’s hit a groove with a manager that isn’t going to put a hit on him.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - September 25, 2009
I was pleasantly surprised that Bobby left Javy in for the 9th. Sportsouth showed Soriano warming up in the pen & I thought for sure Bobby was going send him in. Again.
adc62 - September 25, 2009
WOW
Simply an awesome dominating pitching performance by the hottest pitcher in baseball as of late
Trek - September 25, 2009
Javy was amazing in his CG win!
Did it for Kano. (Thinking of you HeyJude)
NCChopper - September 25, 2009
Thank you, We are still up soaking up every last minute with him, our Vet will be here early in the a.m.
Hubby took a pic of him watching his final Braves game…..Peeps probably think we are crazy, to love a dog so much.
So happy we won tonight! We are going to get in the play offs one way or another!
We Can do this…..looking forward to another win tomorrow! Go Braves!
HEYJUDE - September 26, 2009

kp.atl - September 25, 2009
OMG
Rockies just pulled out a 9th inning win!
dammit
Trek - September 25, 2009
Marlins lose and Phillies lose.
Sure would have been nice if Albert and Co. would have helped with Colorado.
We’ll just have to keep helping ourselves.
NCChopper - September 25, 2009
Heck
Never mind catching the Rockos. Let’s get bacl on top of our division.
ahhh…one can dream
Trek - September 25, 2009
Vazquez – His trade value has never been higher…let’s trade him!
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2009
only if we can get a superstar hitter for him. if its anything less, hold on to him.
Scott Coleman - September 26, 2009 via mobile

justincredubil02 - September 26, 2009
i wasnt being sarcastic..
Scott Coleman - September 26, 2009 via mobile
I was.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2009
Keep Javy
Chief Noc-A-Homa - September 26, 2009
yes! (no sarcasm) He is THE BEST pitcher on our team. I have been saying all season long that it would be a BIG mistake to trade him.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2009
My only concern with keeping him is:
He has a tendency to have one really good year and then one not so good year after that.
Scott Coleman - September 26, 2009 via mobile
he’s also never had this good of a season, id say he’s thriving due to a new, calmer environment
McCann's the Man - September 26, 2009
agreed
he got away from the wizard of Oz
adc62 - September 26, 2009
that’s my feeling too…Cox tends to do that with players.
justincredubil02 - September 26, 2009
Or he's just having a crareer year he won't repeat.
MichaelProcton - September 26, 2009
Wow
there were some really good pitching matchups tonight. Anyone see Peavy dominate as well? Zambrano beat out Lincecum
good baseball all around
drumzalicious - September 26, 2009
I had Zambrano, Vasquez, Correia, and Nolasco on the hill today for my fantasy squad. Dominate. Championship. $$$
Mark Lempke - September 26, 2009
awesome vazquez pic
his hand is like a shrapnel shell, the remnants of a nasty change-up.
brndn - September 26, 2009
Still ALIVE!
The Braves are looking good and there pitching is looking awesome. JV gave the braves front office another reason why we shouldnt trade him. He’s been great down the strech when we needed him. He had everything working for him tonight.
Hanson, keep the momemtum going Go Cardinals!!
AlRoBraves95 - September 26, 2009
Another reason we shouldn't...
Or another reason we should. Every game he comes out and does this is that much more we can net in a trade.
MichaelProcton - September 26, 2009
It was so funny
There were a couple of very vocal Braves fans among a quieted crowd of Nats fans. Nothing vulgar, but very encouraging, Bobby Cox-ish. At one point, this disgruntled Nats fan screams, “Shut up!!!!” at the top of his lungs. This is followed from the Braves fan by, “No!” And then it was repeated several times…
Shut up!!!
No!
Shut up!!!
No!!!
Shut up!!!
Fuck you!
Fuck you!!! Shut the fuck up!!!
Nope!
etc.
It was hysterical. ~Go Braves. Stick with ’em.
