I don't know who writes headlines for the Braves.com MLB.com site, but they need to start watching some Braves games. The headline today reads, "Braves need lift from Lowe in finale." Right, because it's been the starting pitchers who have been the problem lately. How about "Braves need lift from bats," or "Braves need Chipper to chip-in," if they're trying to be cute. "Braves need McCann to start McHitting!" Those are much better options than saying we need a "lift from Lowe."
Apparently the Braves' website thinks that everything will be solved in tonight's game if they just get a good outing from their starting pitcher -- completely overlooking the fact that they've gotten five consecutive quality starts from their starters, including Derek Lowe, while only winning one of those games and scoring a total of 7 runs.
As if the forces of fate are conspiring against us, the artlice does point out an interesting factoid about tonight's starter for the Astros, Roy Oswalt: "Atlanta is the only National League team Oswalt has never beaten in the regular season. He's 0-2 with a 6.18 ERA in six career starts against the Braves." ...and I still don't like our chances.

all they do is sugar coat everything and are too afraid to call anyone out. chipper and BMac have been pathetic the past month and no one has said anything about it over there.

Well, sure they do...
for the most part. It is their website, and it’s pretty bad for business to say, “hey, we suck”. Having said that, I have actually read some things that Bowman has written that have been somewhat critical at times, at least in his blog. Reading his story about last night’s managing fiasco, you don’t have to read too far between the lines to get that he thought Bobby was crazy.

i think it’s just an attempt at a clever headline — you know, because the braves are so low, and since the pitcher is named lowe, then it’s ironic that we need him to lift… yeah it stinks.

I'm ready for a new Manager
I think it’s time for a change in Atlanta. Wren made some great moves by getting rid of guys who we held on to for to long (Smoltz, Glavine) and now it’s time to get rid of Bobby. I think a new manager for next year would be a good thing and hopefully light a fire under the players and get them going. Bobby’s managing of the bullpen and the lineup has killed us this year. In my opinion we need a a young manager. A fredi G. or Joe Girardi TYPE. Its just frustrating since the last week of August we had high hopes, we were close to being 10 games above .500 and now we have gone in the opposite direction and i think a lot of it has to do with the terrible hitting by Jones and McCann, but it doesn’t help that Cox has managed terribly. It was refreshing to see him drop McCann in the order. Now he just needs to drop him one more spot to 6th and have escobar and LaRoche batting 4th and 5th. He’s to loyal to chipper to ever move him down in the order so i won’t even mention it. Really this is how the lineup should look with the way guys are hitting right now: McLouth, Prado, Escobar, LaRoche, Jones, Diaz, McCann, Infante

Why have 3 catchers if Mac still catches 4 out of 5 days?
Why not take Chipper out and stick in Kelly or Conrad somewhere?

I’m sure Clint Sammons is happy he was called up from Gwinnett to warm guys up in the bullpen, and that Brooks Conrad is having fun watching the worn-out regulars play. But hey, if one of the regulars gets hurt, they’re here…
The Braves aren’t going to make the playoffs. Who knows, the guys sitting on the bench might make it interesting.

Braves pitching has been the Bright spot in our line-up this year!
Bobby needs to replace the tired, struggling payers with the rested players on the bench!
