How the heck does this game count. With all of the ceremonies and everything before the start, there is no way it is anything more than an exhibition. I hate that this supposedly matters, but yet the fans still vote for the starters. Its not like the manager can actually build the team he wants to put on the field. It ridiculous!
All the hype of Obama’s first pitch and I didn’t even get to see how good/bad it was. What the heck? Halladay’s interview going silent was hilarious. Maybe Obama should announce every year b/c the NL really rallied when he was in the booth. GO NL!!!!
So. These pitchers don’t have better numbers than JJ or Vazquez, except for the W/L count. Pretty pathetic on Manuel’s part, not to mention him adding an excess of Phillies… pretty selfish if you ask me.
we get to listen to talking heads talk about how “composed” the AL team was, and how they didn’t falter in the spotlight, while the NL team wasn’t “clutch.”
Analyzing the outcome of the all-star game after the fact kind of sucks.
I flipped back and forth – wondering if BMac would get a chance before the 9th. When I did see the NL bat, it was like watching the Braves this year with their impatience at the plate. I asked hubby if there is a rule in the NL that you must not work the opposing pitchers much.
I hate Heap popped up, but honestly I was surprised he even had a turn to bat. I noticed too the announcers talked about the pitcher and everything else besides Brian when he was at the plate. They eventually had to say who was batting, but it was brief and with no accolades. Even when he came in to catch the 9th, just a mention of his name and that’s all.
Only good thing with that game is it’s over, the Phillies lost (wink) and our guys and BP got some much needed rest.
Albert is not a Machine!!!!

Bud F'ing Idiot Selig
Cracker! - July 14, 2009
yeah. He was covering his @$$ for the year it ended in a tie. I guess NL homefield advantage 1 year and AL the next was too fair.
Walker Wallace - July 14, 2009
Oh, hey. I kinda hijacked the “All-Star Festivities” thread, but I’ll say it here: pitchers batting in the all-star game is garbage.
soup du jour - July 14, 2009

BullManUGA - July 14, 2009

if it makes it to 18 or so
was385 - July 14, 2009
Because Molina is so much better.
BigG1392 - July 14, 2009

Walker Wallace - July 14, 2009

drumzalicious - July 14, 2009
Remembering why I don't usually watch this game
The coverage sucks, and Tim McCarver takes everything he does bad and elevates it to a new level for this one.
Bronn - July 14, 2009
I have a horrible feeling that Jeff Bennett is going to come in and blow this game…oh wait…nevermind.
mvandonsel - July 14, 2009
You’re forgetting that he’s on the DL…oh wait…
Bronn - July 14, 2009
Yeah, my bad…I meant Moylan. :)
mvandonsel - July 14, 2009
I have a feeling Soriano will come in and get them 1-2-3 in the 9th…. oh wait.
BigG1392 - July 14, 2009
It’s a shame Javy or Soriano weren’t picked.
Walker Wallace - July 14, 2009
McCann not in the game yet.
BullManUGA - July 14, 2009
nope
Walker Wallace - July 14, 2009
Next year
If we can win games for our SPs, Javy, JJ, and Hanson will all be all-stars.
BigG1392 - July 14, 2009
What a terrible route by Upton
BigG1392 - July 14, 2009
That should have been Soriano pitching
That a boy - July 14, 2009

BigG1392 - July 14, 2009
Serves them right
For not picking Soriano
BigG1392 - July 14, 2009

Walker Wallace - July 14, 2009
Is it going to be like last year, when they brought Mac in the 9th?
or have I missed him?
HEYJUDE - July 14, 2009
He came on deck. And then some random Phillie struck out. And then they didn’t put him in.
BigG1392 - July 14, 2009
Werth, I believe it was
Walker Wallace - July 14, 2009
Thanks! I watch the entire came to see him, and he may not get in……That sucks!

HEYJUDE - July 14, 2009
The AL will win again!!
That a boy - July 14, 2009

HEYJUDE - July 14, 2009

Fielder was awesome!
HEYJUDE - July 14, 2009

Bronn - July 14, 2009
Another year, another AL victory, and another AL homefield advantage in the World Series
Walker Wallace - July 15, 2009
