Prado thinks to himself “I wonder how long fans will think I am better than KJ” while Chipper wonders “How long will Bobby continue to start that abominable RF?”
"We’re not out there trying to get shut out," Jones said. "We’re not out there trying to stay four or five games back. We’re busting our humps. We seem a little offensively challenged this season. … There’s nobody exempt from that."
Not Jones, the 2008 batting champion. He’s 10-for-60 (.167) with one RBI in his past 17 games, one of the worst stretches of his career.
It is getting painfull to watch these guys swing (or play defense for that matter). I see no relief in the near future for these budget minded Braves. They have worn out their caps tipping them to opposing pitchers. This year is lost even though we are just 5 games out. Just have to make the best of it until the next wave of prospects come along the next couple of years and hopefully produce. The current Braves do not have the heart or the talent to challenge.
THAT boys and girls IMO is one of the main reasons we can’t get or keep good players that produce.
Ever since they have been “corporate owned” it’s been going downhill.
We bring great player up through our farm systems only to be traded away and when we do get a player worth big bucks we refuse to do what it takes to keep them.
um…McCann, Chipper, Francoeur (even though he isn’t great), Derek Lowe, Kawakami, Vasquez and others all beg to differ. They all have really good contracts that the FO was willing to spend to either bring them to Atl or keep them there.
after being one of the worst position players in the majors? Yeah, I’d say he has a great contract – unless you think he deserves more than his 3.75M-ish.
For a super two player with his career numbers, it’s right on it. Arbitration isn’t really about what a player is worth. It’s about what other players with his service time and counting numbers get paid.
that he is lucky to have the contract he does – the fact that it is a MLB contract and not AAA is enough to support that statement. I think he SHOULD have tried to go to arbitration, because I am fairly confident that he would have lost.
That's a good shot. The scope and everything.

Shut it.
Prado is the best 2B in the NL, much less on the team!

to be putting up a line like this: .246 / .279 / .346 / .625
Seriously? a .279 OBP???
justincredubil02 - June 28, 2009
Can we afford to bring Ron Gant out of the booth and stick him in RF?
Hell the way things are going he could bat 5th tomorrow.

We’re the KMart of baseball and it sucks.

Francoeur has a really good contract?
Also, Vasquez had no choice in the matter.

nearly a $1M raise

It's exactly what you'd expect for a guy who's eligible for arbitration.
MichaelProcton - June 28, 2009
really?
the worst position player in baseball would get a raise in arbitration?
FYF isn’t worth much more than league minimum at this point.

Haha...would have been nice for us.
But they might not have wanted to hurt his already-shaky confidence any more with a hearing.
MichaelProcton - June 28, 2009
and what does Vazquez
have to do with the front office being willing to spend the money to take on his contract?

Get used to Chipper going 0-4? No thanks.
